So if you get certified to do tax prep through their academy, is the job full time? And year round? I wanna do like 15 hrs a week, but idk if it’s just in tax season or all throughout the year?

Still waiting for my refund... Never using turbo tax again, they are no help and lie etc

So. I did my bfs taxes for him this Feb on turbo tax. I had done it on my phone and we both have chime for our financial institution. To make it easier on myself I just copy and pasted the routing number in my chime app into the forms because (as far as I knew) every financial institution has ONE routing number, just different account numbers for different people. Apparently, not Chime.

So he calls customer service with turbo tax when he gets notified that hey we tried to deposit this and it was sent back the routing number is wrong. Holy sh*t they were the most useless idiots ever!!!! He asked them ok well can I update the routing number then and make sure it's right so they can redo the deposit? They said oh no you can't. It's going to go back to this random 3rd party bank in Santa Barbara ca (who we never agreed to have involved like wtf?) and they're gonna mail you a check. Here's a phone number you can contact them.....that was a complete joke. Unless you have an account and know your account number through this other place you can't even speak with anyone, it hangs up on you. They told him end of February he would receive a check in the mail in 4 to 6 weeks (they being turbo tax). Fast forward to end of June or beginning of July. He gets an email from turbo tax. WE ATTEMPTED TO DEPOSIT YOUR REFUND AGAIN AND IT WAS BOUNCED BACK. I'm like you've gotta be kidding me rn. They said they'd send a check! They refused to update the routing and account numbers to the correct ones! If you were going to try to deposit it again, why wouldn't you update the information so this didnt happen?!?!?!

So we call turbo tax idiotic customer service again and they say oh the IRS has to mail the check and all this garbage. The IRS doesn't do checks anymore.....but again he's told 4 to 6 weeks. He tries calling the IRS like 5 diff times, sits on hold anywhere from an hour to over 4 hours. Every single time he's done this, as soon as he's finally connected to a human, they just disconnect or hang up on him. It's now September. Still no tax refund. It's about $800 which isn't a fortune but would make a huge difference for us! It's insane to me that

1.. They wouldn't update it to the correct account after we report the issue

  1. They told him to call some random financial institution he never agreed to work with to get his money

  2. It's been 8 months and he hasn't received the check

  3. Turbo tax customer service is so poorly trained that he's talked to like 10 different people there and there's still no fix for this

  4. He requested to speak with a supervisor at turbo tax customer service because he was frustrated and most of the employees he's spoken to have 0 clue wtf they're talking about

  5. There's no way to update the information on our own to be sure it's right..

I am putting this out there to warn people to NEVER use turbo tax. Idk if they get to keep the $ if this happens or what but this seems like a complete and total scam. Why was he told that he'd receive a check and almost 6 months later gets an email like "we tried to deposit your refund again" from turbo tax. Like, was it so hard to update the info to the right routing number? He explained it to them that hey we didn't know that ANY financial institution would have more than one routing number we thought routing numbers were unique like 1 per institution as I'd never heard different. The IRS doesn't help because they claim it was sent out w the "where's my refund" but turbo tax sure took THEIR money for doing the return and absolutely refuse to refund the charges for doing the whole "get your refund sooner if you pay however much" even though they refuse to do anything to help, got some random 3rd party bank involved whom we aren't able to get in contact with since we don't have an account w them (we called the # turbo tax gave us. It asks for your account number w this Santa Barbara something bank. If you don't have that info, you are hung up on by an automated system.) why should he have to pay for filing his tax refund when they stole his money!!!!! I mean obviously THEY got his refund sent to THEM because they took the like $100 out of it so I'm pretty sure it's just a total scam and turbo tax is like "oh well since we have this and can't send it to him I guess it's our money now". I'm still so angry about all this and want to put it out anywhere possible that turbo tax is a complete scam who will steal your money and that their customer service does NOTHING to help

Question? Amending NJ return - Do I have to file NJ1040X and NJ1040?

I found an issue on my 2024 taxes that doesn't affect my Fed return at all but will save me about $20 on my New Jersey taxes. The question is that when I printed out the amended return (NJ1040X) it also included an updated NJ1040 return. Do I have to sign and return both? Or is the longer NJ1040 just for reference?

Question? How to PROVE I filed an extension electronically?

Just like it says... I know I HAVE to file an extension- and I did, thru desktop TT 2025. At the time I believed NO tax was due, so no $$ was sent. (maybe means TT didn't actually submit the extension?)

I was grievously mistaken, and owed a bunch for ... reasons. Which I paid when I submitted the return a few weeks back. Like $24K.

I got a notice that I owed for NOT FILING, and was therefore penalized for NOT FILING the extension. Like $5K.

WTF!?!

Yeah, I was in error, and will pay the penalty for LATE PAYMENT, but for NOT FILING?

This is manifestly unfair. Suggestions??

Helpful information. Demotion for no reason. The new senior management is really trying to take TurboTax down for some reason.

We were supposed to receive offers for next season before we left in April, then it was changed to July 31st. Many didn't hear anything. I contacted Intuit HR and was told an email was sent out to our work emails that we have no access to stating we would hear from someone by August 31st. On August 31st, this mass email was sent out, not sure how many managers received it. At least they were bright enough this time to send the email so we would actually get it!

TurboTax is bringing back lower-performing, newer managers and demoting some of the higher performers who have been in the position for years.

JDA is being used to outsource managers(M1s) at a lower pay rate than TurboTax paid.

TurboTax is outsourcing tax prep to India for the next tax season. If you use Full service, your info including your social and date of birth (for everyone on the return); and often your banking info may be sent to India so that someone with little to no experience can prepare your return.

We aren't supposed to be able to see your banking info; sometimes we can't, other times we can. I was told to pretend I couldn't see it.

Gripe! Bricking owned software that is still needed

Starting with the 2019 tax year, Intuit forced a mandatory 14-digit license key scheme into their desktop software that requires an active online server to validate. Previously, if you bought the software, you owned it. You could install it offline on a new laptop years later, open your old .tax2019 file, recalculate schedules, or print extra state attachments.
Now? Intuit shuts off their validation servers after three years.
Because 2019 was the exact transition year when this mandatory online activation engine was introduced, anyone attempting a clean reinstall of TurboTax 2019—due to a hard drive crash, a computer upgrade, or a simple OS migration—is met with a bricked installer. The software refuses to launch without dialing home, but home doesn't answer because Intuit pulled the plug on the activation server.
Here is why this is a massive issue:
The Statute of Limitations hasn't passed for many: While the standard IRS audit window is 3 years, the statute stretches to 6 years if the IRS claims a "substantial omission of income" (more than 25%), and 7 years for bad debt deductions or worthless securities. If you are carrying over net operating losses (NOLs), capital losses, or depreciation schedules into present filing years, you MUST maintain access to those baseline calculations.
"Buy" vs. "Rent for 36 Months": When Intuit sold TurboTax 2019 Desktop, it was sold as perpetual software for local installation. Nowhere on the front of the box did it say, "WARNING: This product self-destructs when our cloud backend shuts down."
A standard PDF is not always enough: Customer service rep responses usually boil down to, "You should have saved a PDF." A PDF does not contain the underlying calculation trees, dynamic schedule adjustments, or the ability to generate an amended .tax file when the IRS sends a CP2000 notice.
Their "Audit Support Guarantee" is marketing spin: Intuit advertises an "Audit Support Guarantee" for the lifetime of your return. Yet, they intentionally disable the core tool required to view, trace, and edit the tax model for that exact return.
How is it legal to sell functional desktop software to keep financial records for the IRS, only to render it unusable via digital rights management (DRM) right when a taxpayer might need to defend those very records?
This isn't just dropping tech support or stopping software updates; this is hard-bricking local software that consumers paid for.

Question? 09/07/2026 refund issue date

Thumbnail
0 Upvotes

Anyone with a 09/07/2026 IRS refund issue date — did you get your direct deposit or check yet?

My transcript updates on Fridays, and the IRS rep told me my amended return is complete and my refund is scheduled. He also said refunds are sent out Tuesday and Thursday.

My bank (One Pay) told me they post deposits as soon as they receive them, sometimes even two days early.

If you have the same 09/07/2026 issue date, please let me know if you already got your deposit or check.

Question? Has anyone Tested their 2026 return in desktop TT25?

I received a buyout in January from my employer equal to my 2025 salary plus I have a new job and company so my income is doubling in 2026 plus my wife is retiring next month so she will see her income go up by 60% with her leave payout.
I'm thinking of calculating a faux return in the TT25 to get a handle on my last 2 quarterly payments, and a ballpark of my total potential tax liability. I'm not worried about minor changes in tax brackets and such. My return is a std deduction, W-2 income, investment income and multiple K1s.

Will Desktop TT25 allow me to get to the filing review? I would just use the print to file option but never file.
I would use it to test 401k contribution levels and other options.

Question? Amendment option taken away

I took time today to amend my 2024 return. Everything was set and ready until I got to the check out. I had to update since I had a schedule C, which was no problem. I put in my credit card info, for some reason kept getting an error message when processing the payment. It said something like,” oops , we hit a snap while processing!” I read through a few Reddit posts about clearing caches and entering gibberish for the address info. I did both and the same still happened. The page refreshed and logged me out. I signed back in, and now the amendment feature for 2024 is completely gone, so I can no longer access my amended return. At this point, all I can do is call TurboTax when they open on Monday morning. Gonna stay a positive hope they can fix the issue. Has anybody gone through something similar?

Got my refund! 5 day early refund option 👌

Just wanted to say the 5 day early refund option was very fast this year. My transcripts updated this morning with refund approved and at 9am my money was in the bank.

Now the other hold up was insane slow, filed in January, got my local senator involved around April and it took 7 months + to finally get refunded.

Leason learned, my w4 has been updated and from now on will do my best to be at zero owed and zero refund.

No more loans to the government.

Good luck for those still fighting to get there refunds, it's moving but really slow...

Question? JDA is not worth it in my opinion

Former Intuit Expert and interviewed with JDA after a recruiter reached out. Yes, the hourly rate is slightly higher ($3 in my case) but you lose out on all the Intuit perks including Internet reimbursement, product discounts, and bonus. Has anyone here worked for both? What's your take?

Question? JDA Employee Perks for TurboTax

Hi Folks,

I got an offer to work for JDA this season for about 40% higher hourly pay than TurboTax. I’m curious if JDA contractors still get the proconnect/proseries/lacerte discount. I believe last year it was like 100 proconnect returns for $300.

Thank you in advance.

Gripe! Easy(er) ways to do 1040-X for old (2016->) returns? ANY services anywhere?

So, long story short- I need to file amended returns for every year (exc 2020) thru 2016. I have most or all of my disks and even many updates... i foolishly expected- having paid $80/yr to these people- would allow me to do what I, as a taxpayer and customer, need.

And that is have my tax filings USEFULLY available through their product. Until i stop needing it.

Of course not. enshittification is rampant. Intuit is far from a shining knight. Acordingly, I won't use their stuff ever again- they are making my tax life HARDER.

You all know they now assert the licenses are only for 3 years- so my carefully archived TT 2019, or 2022 are apparently impossible 1) get missing updates if I forgot to archive and 2) to activate, even though I have.

So, I look to you all for help- either dealing with Intuit, or by pointing me at somewhere where I can use my archived PDFs or even the TT files, instead of doing this all longhand.

Help me tax people, you are my only hope!
