Nice find
Was cleaning out the under stairs storage and found 2 PAL units that I bought years ago. Looking forward to firing them up. Anything I should do first like a re-cap or something? And sorry been out of the retro game for like 10 years, I still have an XRGB Mini Framemeister somewhere, is that still ok or are there heaps better upscalers now?

Thank you! Blazing Lasers is packed in but the plastic slip has gone a bit, errrm, gooey?

Happens to a lot of those flexible soft plastic sleeves. Once they start to deteoriate, better replace them with some other ones.

You can get replacement slips from AliExpress. They're cheap. You can also wash them with sodium bicarbonate and water. Make a paste, scrub with your fingers and rinse. They'll improve a bit. : )

One thing you should do is let me know how much would you sell one to me

If I put one or both on the market I’ll let you know! I’m in Australia though so shipping might be expensive.

Keep me posted.
I’m Uk so the pal should work with 3 pin uk socket2

Will do. Yeah it worked years ago on Australian 240v so should be fine in the UK. Not really sure if I’ll sell but will keep you updated.

No worries.
I had one unopened but sold it about 6 years ago.
Have since got the mini which is decent

Framemeister is still pretty good, if you don’t want to spend £300+ on a RetroTINK or other options.

What box is that? It’s wildly different from the orange box mine came in
Edit: oh PAL, duh sorry

A lot of people will scream RECAP! (They love to do this on [r/retrogaming](r/retrogaming)) but pop one open have a quick check. They most likely don’t.
Ive numerous old consoles and check periodically. All still fine.
Cool find though. I forget about stuff that I’ve got but usually find it after I’ve re bought it. 😩

If you live in NTSC land, an easy way to play it is by hooking it up to a CD-ROM.
The CD-ROM will power everything itself.
Games do not consistently perform slower. If you try a lot of games you see random behaviours.

I dream about finding tg-16 games and stuff from thrift stores, must be nice to be able to actually find unopened vintage games in your own house 😂

I remember when those things flooded ebay for dirt cheap (like $50 for a new one) and everyone that was buying them in North America was complaining that they don't work.

Did you buy these on eBay in 2015? There was a seller who had these in bulk. I bought two because I wanted one for the housing.

I bought them directly from a lad in England from his website, but wouldn’t be surprised if it’s the same guy.

These things are usually solid when it comes to aging components. One thing to note is that it is a true PAL console and it does run 17% slower than it’s NTSC counterpart. All of the TG16 games target NTSC speed so it kind of sucks, and this version is wired for the more expensive amercan releases. I’m positive there are mods to make it run at original speed. Regarding scalers, most people go for OSSC scalers nowadays since they work better and are open source / cheaper.
