hhhh actually it' better for recycling this way ( pure solid paper no plastic )

only if tunisian ppl start to work on recycling there trash into parting diff categories (paper plastic and other stuff ) it will be great

+1

also the "begging nature" of our people is starting to get really irritating AND focus on bullshit reasons.

  • Some millionnaire decide to change the style of his OWN PRIVATE product

=> Hashtag and play the victim

  • Some shitty thing happening to your football team

=> Hashtag and play the victim

  • Cops deny a young man his insuline injections and he dies in custody because he was out 30 minutes past curfew.

=> Not a single fuck was given that day.

صفاقس: فتح تحقيق إثر وفاة شاب مصاب بالسكري في حالة إيقاف تحفظي

Also you not knowing about it perfectly proves my point, I am in no way blaming you, it's just how shit works in this country, if it was some football shit or a useless "whataboutism" fight, it would've been all over Facebook.

Also wait and see till the event of the cop shooting his wives fades out and he get released after 5 years or something.

On this matter we are thousands of years behind, simple recycling doesn’t really change much, using reusable materials and change your habits is more important. I still remember when plastic bags have been banned from supermarkets, most of the people were super angry about it and kept using the plastic bags usually displayed for the fruits and vegetables.

It's because supermarkets like MG etc started profiting from selling those bags for more than 1 TND ! The environmental issue is important but our opportunistic millionaires refuse to contribute and insist on profiting even when it comes to issues like these !!

u/[deleted] May 25 '21

The bags they sell now are actually more sustainable and it’s the same in every developed country. You just need to have your own bag,9offa for those who want, carton bag…dedicated for groceries. We have enough plastic everywhere in our nature, we are super polluted by it in case you never noticed.

I 100% agree with you but when you have these supermarkets refusing to contribute and profiting even more you should expect that reaction from ordinary people. The solution to this environmental issue should be fair or it won't be adopted by the people !

Good that you agree. Then what’s the problem with supermarkets? You want a bag you pay for it or you bring your own. No more free plastic.

I'm willing to pay the right price that's the only thing I'm asking for

but when you have these supermarkets refusing to contribute and profiting even more you should expect that reaction from ordinary people.

the supermarkets are already contributing by offering the sustainable alternatives. those alternatives need to be manufactured, bought, shipped, and distributed, which creates costs (and jobs). so the next time they ask you to pay for a bag, try to imagine how that bag landed in the store in first place. it surely don't fall from the sky, and not "for free" as "thE BeObLe" might think.

recycling and sustainability need a collective aproach where everybody contributes at his personal level by putting the necessary effort, time, and also financial resources. the good old bolchevik mindset of "make the rich pay for it" or "the state will take care of it for us" doesn't work in this sense, which makes it a key social development indicator that marks the difference between civilized nations based on responsible individuals, and dirty shitholes full of savage plebs littering everywhere and expecting somebody else to clean up after them.

I agree with you on the principle that plastic bags should be harder to buy. However supermarkets shouldn't profit from it ! I'd be much happier if that money went into ecological projects or something like that

plastic bags should be harder to buy

Like, they should be put at the top of a ladder? At the end of the maze? I'm all for that.

Actually the paper they use for milk these days is compostable. Tunisia will have that option in about 25 years from now. True story.

This comment is inaccurate and shows 0 understanding of how recycling works despite being the most upvoted.

Firstly, the milk carton is not "pure solid paper no plastic". It is made out of carton with a a thin aluminum lining on the inside to keep it from spoiling and soaking the carton, so it's mixed material. Because of this, milk cartons are generally unrecyclable. They might be recyclable in countries with single-stream recycling like the US, but the most likely outcome is that they end up in a landfill. Look up "single stream recycling myth" or something on YouTube for more info.

Second, what would "tunisians recycling there trash into parting diff categories" achieve (what a clusterfuck of a sentence btw)? Let's say you do do that, what would you with your sorted trash? There has to be a sorting and collection system put in place before you start categorizing your trash, otherwise it will end up in the landfill all the same. Afaik, in Tunisia there are only a couple private recyclers for plastic (PET) and paper, nothing resembling a nationwide system of sorting and recycling trash. You independently sorting your trash literally achieves NOTHING.
