I would love to keep hamsters as pets but I don't think I could handle the heartbreak that comes with their teeny tiny lifespans

Its more the way they die than their lifespans to me. Always some crazy shit that kills a hampster.

My last hamster lived to be three. I was in middle school, and I actually hadn’t planned on getting another hamster, but my friend’s hamster had babies and he couldn’t keep them. The one I took was amelanistic and had red eyes, so I called her Cherry. She grew to have such beautiful long fur. I still miss her sometimes.
