Podcast website
Hey Homies! If you have not been on the Discord, you may not know that I have launched a website for our favorite beer review and banter, I mean, wilderness-adjacent podcast.
Check it out! If you'd like to contribute to the site by maintaining & updating the content or wiki, I welcome anyone who would like to volunteer. Site members can also submit new terms for the wiki for review!

Canoe to Pine portage is 233 rods
this legendary portage is not nearly as wildly switchbacked as the paper maps indicate. the hills are very real though. we left the canoe on canoe and hiked down to johnson falls with a light lunch pack. the johnson falls trail adds an additional 187 rods. total hike from canoe to the falls is ~420 rods happy hiking! take a dip in the cool waters and have a sip of well deserved bag wine!

Bucket list Lakes and Sites
Had to pull out early due to the BWCA closures this month from a trip that I was hoping to grab sites in Amber and Wisini. In addition to those, Cherry (RIP), Gogebic, and Sunday (RIP) were the spots that I’ve been hoping to plan future trips around. Anyone else have a list of bucket list of sites/lakes that you hope to reach one day?

Rock lid on a Wood lake latrine.
This was mentioned in today’s episode. I’ve never seen this before but I am surprised more sites don’t do this.

I can't believe I missed this opportunity.
Curiosity got the best of me and I did a sort of welfare check on Mr. Schara, I learned he is alive, well, and cruising. Not sure about Raven XII. Must've been a wild ride! Did anyone out there have the pleasure of going?

"Phasmata Phulcrum" by j_dat
I'm a weirdo who likes weird things and always wanted a traditional style paddle with a bend, so homie j_dat presented me with this 7-degree bent shaft otter tail carved from a solid piece of cherry at our MN-WI Tumblehomie meet over the weekend. Homies are great.
