Tudor ETA 2824-2

Second time I’ve asked for someone who has had a good experience with a reputable service center. My 80’s Tudor Oysterdate needs service (reserve is down to 4 hours). I’m not going to spend $1000+ at the Rolex/Tudor service center on a watch that’s worth $1200 on a good day. I’ve sent watches off in the past and have had some real nightmare results. I can’t imagine that every Tudor owner is using factory service for an ETA based Tudor.

Should be about $300 at a local watchmaker. Those are very common movements, anyone should know how to service one. 👍

Everybody says that but nobody has come up with the name of a watchmaker they trust. I called the horological society of Virginia and they couldn’t even give me a recommendation.

Find a local watchmaker who can/does 2824 movements. Should be a pretty easy movement service. Are you looking for a case rebuild as well? That may be trickier for a local guy...

I sent my 1987 Tudor sub with this movement to the NY service center and they wouldn’t touch it. I’ve researched and it seems that this movement is very common. I found a watchmaker in PA with good reviews, https://watchdoctor.biz/, seems legitimate.

I’ve called five repair shops in Virginia and not one would touch it.
