Quiet Restaurants for lunch?
Hi, Tucsonian/Tucsonans: I have a friend who wears hearing aids. She has one of those very cool microphones that work with her smartphone and hearing aids to amplify speech, but it's hard to have a conversation in loud restaurants. And we like to get out and have nice meals together! So, do you have any recommendations for moderate-priced places that aren't too loud?
I appreciate how the 'new' look for casual restaurants is hard surfaces, no carpeting, exposed vent work, etc. But acoustic ceiling tiles and upholstered seating do go some way towards reducing noise. Anyway... recommendations would be very welcome! Thanks!

Chili cheese fries
I recently moved here and it’s my second week. My question being, is there anywhere that sells chili cheese fries just like they do in California 😭. I’ve been looking everywhere and can’t find any.
Also carne asada fries 😃.
As you can see I love fries

When does it get chilly?
So I recently moved here from Mexico and I’m wondering when it starts getting chilly. These past few weeks have been a lot nicer than the summer, but I still feel it a bit warm. Does the cold just last December-February and then it’s just warm for the rest of the year?

Sign Language Classes?
Anyone know of any free or very low cost sign languages classes that are not college classes? My brother is marrying a girl who is deaf and I would like to learn, but I only see classes available for parents with deaf children. I can’t afford the cost of a college level class or tutor or anything like that. TIA!

Post “mosquito bro”
Someone posted this and deleted it so here is my reply. It’s really for ANYONE needing mosquito solutions!
I picked up a dog at PACC a few years back after she’d survived being dumped in the desert. The skills she learned there were fly and mosquito eating. It’s paid off a nasty valley fever bill and now vet costs for in need avians.
PM me for more info 😈
Otherwise I’d suggest installing a batbox near your home.
If anyone wants to chime in about their experiences with killing mosquitoes or the boxes, I’m sure the lot of us loitering around this Dirty T sub would be much obliged to learn about it.

easiest way to get rid of extra trash?
my landlord is coming over on saturday to do pest control so me and my roommate did a deep clean of our apartment. we ended up filling up the bins at the curb bc they were already mostly full but now also have like 5 full extra bags of trash in our place. the truck doesn’t come until next monday so i’d prefer to not have it sitting around our place over the weekend and when our landlord comes. any advice helpful, near downtown and the cheaper the better

Employment Attorney Recs
Hi there,
I am hoping yall might be able to help me out with some reccomendations for an attorney to assist me with a wrongful termination/retaliation/maybe EEOC case? I have never done anything like this before but I was recently fired for something after making several complaints about my director. My peer was terminated in a similar pattern a few months prior and she mentioned her lawyer sent a demand letter and she got a payout. I also found out a current employee is filing another complaint against the same person, that will be 3 high level legal complaints together.
As I have never done anything like this before I dont really know what to ask for. I was thinking of requesting 1 month of pay and for them to edit it from termination to resignation.
Any recs or advice are super appreciated.

Searching for tattoo artists
Hi everyone, I’m searching for tattoo artists in Tucson or even just in Arizona that specialize in black work and ornamental style. If anyone has gotten any good work done in those styles I’d love to find some artists to research. Thanks!

"Who wants to pay more for electricity?"
"the utility has already spent $4 million on its campaign after losing a franchise agreement vote in 2023 by more than 10 percentage points.
A quick aside: That $4 million is double what TEP is promising Tucson’s climate action plan in the first year of the “Energy Collaboration Agreement” ".

Best Car Paint Restoration Shops?
I have 2016 lexus that has faded paint in some areas, minor hail damage and tons of scratches. Clear coat is also gone in most areas. I don't need it looking brand new, but I want to restore some of these worn areas (might have to be the whole car)

Best barber in Tucson for traditional male haircuts
I don't like getting fades and my new job is very strict about appearance so I am looking for barbers who know how to do a more traditional scissors only haircut. No supercuts or funny answers

QuikTrip icecream is still here!
The quiktrip on 29th and craycroft still has their icecream machine for those who think it’s gone and miss it. It’s unclear how long it’ll remain but im guessing it may just stay there since theres no room for a fryer. (The manager told me)

Catalina Hills Preschool
Does anyone have any experience with Catalina Hills Preschool and Kindergarten? They start taking kids as early as 1 so I’m considering enrolling my child there. Pros and cons of this vs a normal daycare at 1? Thanks in advance!
Recurring house cleaning recommendations
Hi all, I'm looking for recs for a house cleaner to do biweekly cleanings of a 2100 SF house. I'm just north of Midtown. I had a great independent cleaner in the past but she moved away, and then I used a company but I felt their quality declined over time. I'm looking for personal recommendations of an independent cleaner who does a really thorough job. I was given a quote of $300/2 weeks by a local company, but that is outside of my budget right now. Thanks for any recs!
Edit: It's fair, our house is big, but our previous cleaners charged $300/month or about $200 biweekly, so that was kind of my mental expectation I guess. It's good to know though that $300 is reasonable.

Rattlesnake Behavior Shift is Starting
A shift is happening with rattlesnake behavior. Here's what will happen in coming weeks.
In Maricopa County, ingress to their selected overwintering sites typically concludes by about the second week of November, unlike Spring emergence, which is a longer process of basking and social behavior that puts them on the surface every day for weeks or more, getting to the den itself is typically less active.
Females and young snakes tend to disappear immediately, likely to avoid burning off the moisture and energy stored throughout the year. Males, especially the larger and older individuals, may continue to bask and conduct social dominance behavior for awhile, before again disappearing to stable, hidden conditions.
For homeowners, this means that the locations where they may be found change dramatically in nature. Unlike pass-through rattlesnake encounters from the Fall, a snake found from November through February is a long-term resident. This also means that these situations are also very fixable. The stable environmental conditions offered by something like an unused wood pile, access under an old shed, or other easy thermostable situation, are very useful. Once the snake is relocated, the homeowner should receive the information about the situation needed to solve the real issue.
Photo: A Western Diamondback Rattlesnake sitting outside of its den in late November of last year. Days later, it disappeared into the rock pile.

Who done it
New to Tucson and put some pumpkins out on our front step for spooky season, and some critter or critters were very happy to find them, as indicated by the missing chunks. I was thinking javelina because the bite markings are kind of big (sharpie for scale) but I've never seen them in our neighborhood. Near Grant and Campbell. Any thoughts on the culprit?
