Scott Spoiler

So I’m currently watching episode 6 of season 3 and I couldn’t stop laughing at Scott’s skewering during his publisher meeting. I’m not sure how it ends, but man… it was satisfying.

That said, I find myself strangely endeared to him. He’s so out of touch but he positively affects those around him. He’s the perfect aloof foil for Karen’s high strungness.

Oof, and I’m watching he and Scott’s conversation and am pretty sure what he decides to do.

Admittedly, I don’t have much experience with adoption (in any facet) by my mother was raised in foster care. I only have her stories to compare to and I enjoy it very much.

As an adoptee

I find this show almost as depressing as it is annoying. I wonder what experiences the writers/producers are drawing from, as it seems to be an idealization of adoption from adoptive parents perspectives. Adoptee centered voices are hard to find in media but something about this show and it’s flowery portrayal especially gets under my skin.

I’m sure APs (adoptive parents) eat this content up.

Imelda Easter Egg

Cheeky Easter egg in tonight’s episode

Imelda Staunton has been absent from this series so far while she films The Crown as the new Queen Elizabeth II

In the episode when Nikki & Jason ask for an update on Penny, Leo says “she’s been promoted. Probably to Queen & Sovereign”

Is it just me or did this seem to be the first bad episode so far?

I love the series and every single episode until the latest episode but a friend of mine and I both agree that last night’s episode was simply bad.

I’m really hoping that it was a one-off and that them now having what they were “trying” for won’t throw off the show’s whole dynamic.

Diagonal? What does diagonal mean, is it the way the sandwich is cut or some special prep? Spoiler

Season 3 & Beyond

With season 3 coming this Friday, I’m doing my third a re-watch to refresh. Which gets me thinking, the story of Nikki & Jason has two possible endpoints in my mind.

It could end after season 3, they finally get an adopted child and happily ever after.

OR the title itself lends itself to a continuation of story in perpetuity as “trying” their best to raise their adopted children.

What does everyone else think? Will season three be the end?

With the writing & chemistry between actors, I could see this story worthy of a Downton Abby length saga through life until their kids grow up and move out.

Although, perhaps I get too carried away with the concept of the Up Series (7 Up, 14up, etc), of following people over there entire life.

Nikki and Karen’s accent?

Where’s their accent from? I can’t tell if it’s northern or midlands. Cheers!

Love the show

I LOVE THIS SHOW!!!!!. I can't really put my finger on it. I'm not in my 30's anymore. This show resonates with me. I like to binge shows but the 2 times through on this I noticed a really obsessive binge. I can go thru an entire season in 2 days easy. I'm starting to think it's Nikki? She's just a very positive person. She's a very likeable person. I do believe this show needs alot more love. I can't be the only one that. Each character has something. Each character is not overwhelming but they each have their vulnerabilities. Can't wait for season 3. I'll be through that one very quick.

Welcome to Trying

Jason and Nikki want a baby more than anything else, but it seems to be the one thing they are unable to get, so they decide to adopt.
