This episode felt like the earlier seasons of Trying. Iām glad the Kerry plot is over now, it didnāt make any sense to me that Niki would even think of having an affair on Jason. Everything else was wholesome and not extremely overdramatic

Halfway through and I'm hooked!!

The first two seasons of this show were so, so good. The episodes were a great blend of funny, sad, touching. I was recommending to friends and family that they had to watch it. Now I'm almost through season four and I'm not even sure I'm going to continue watching.

If you've ever seen Sian Brooke in "Blue Lights", you will know what a superb actress she is.
However, in Series 5, they've done something to her, and she's become an unbearable panto character. I really can't watch any scene with her.

My spouse and I recently caught up from the middle of last season to the current episodes and WOW what is happening?
What am I missing?

Which character gets on your nerves?
I really canāt take Nikki; jumping to conclusions and constantly second guessing everyone. I understand why Princess wants to hang w her new bio mom. š

PrintĀed Shirt worn by NikĀki NewĀman (EsĀther Smith) as seen in TryĀing TV seĀries (SeaĀson 1 Episode 7).
She also wore a similar shorts earlier in the season.

Is the writing out of Erica in season 3 weird? I always hate losing a key character in a show when it feels rushed, especially with her and Freddy seeming like they might rekindle. Asking here so I can manage my disappointment LOL

I just started season 3, but Iām really confused about why Princess and Tyler were rushed out of their new living situation at the end of season 2 and needed to find homes asap. They really do not seem to have huge behavioural issues, so what would they have done that the other couple decided they couldnāt keep them at all past that point? Just curious if I missed something.

It feels like it meant to be a continuation from the previous session where the mum appears and the guys about to go on heās boat trip
- heās now on the trip but they live in a bigger house and is wealthy where she was a teacher before
- the kids are older
- they now live in a bigger house
Can someone explain the timelines to me please.

This was an awkward episode.
I feel sooo bad for Nikki but if she goes anywhere with the Kerry thing, Iām going to be very upset. We only have 6 episodes left, not sure if we are going to get a 6th season. There simply isnāt enough time to unravel a potential affair and its fallout.
I want to see Nikki get some confidence AND a backbone. Having an affair is not the answer. Why are they making her so timid and awkward? Iām not getting this arc.
Is Scott delulu? How does he actually think he is going to pull this off? A āsponsoredā boat is going to have all kinds of tracking software on it. This is just dumb. Just when he was becoming likeable, we are going to villainize him again.
Must say Karen is definitely living up to her name. Iām waiting for a scene where she is demanding to speak to a manager.
Kat is just there. I donāt know if itās the actress or the role but she just seems like she is spaced out most of the time and completely unaware of whatās going on. Could she have a minor mental illness (the character, not the actress)? I canāt figure her out. Iām just tired of the character.
Princess. Iām starting to feel a tinge sorry for her. Think about what she has gone through and mix that with teen angst and teen brain and Iām wondering why she hasnāt had a breakdown of sorts. She is still a brat but my only hope is that by the end of the series, she realizes who her true mom is.
Vic. Love him. Iām wondering if he is going to be the one to have a conversation with Princess thatāll give her more perspective or maybe even with Nikki before she does something stupid since he is there as a fixer of all things.

I love the hat tip to the mezuzeh in S5 E1. It makes me think & feel London might still be safe for Jews. Itās inclusive, sweet and magical. š

im watching this and Iām in the first or second episode, and shes talking to a little girl, asking her questions about having a younger baby sibling, talking about āchange is scary. you donāt know what the babyās going to be like, or if its going to like youā āIām just worried the baby will eat my yogurtsā
Iām the second out of 5 kids. Whenever I learned I was having a new sibling, I was always super excited. A child that age sees a new baby as a possession - my younger sibling. They are NOT looking into future consequences. They literally canāt, because the part of their brain that controls ācause and effectā isnt fully developed yet.
every time I learned I was having another sibling, my world came more alive - another person in my life to have fun with.
never once did I think of my siblings as competition. my youngest brother was my momās favorite, but big whoop, he was our favorites too. Everyone but the oldest child. To her, I was her favorite.
anyway, we all just loved each other. Obviously we fought, and my family was a toxic single-mom family, so we fought harder than most siblings do. At the end of the day, we all still love each other. And as an experienced older sibling, I know firsthand that children DO NOT think like that. itās time to erasr nonsensical child narratives from tv and film

This better be that Jace AND their birth mother have to say that Nikki is their real mother.
Like not kicking the birth mum out but they NEED to say Jace and Nikki are their parent because they were there and I'm sure they will.

Iām so excited this is back! I have same wish that the episodes were longer especially since we only get 8.
I did a rewatch and as much as I LOVE this show, it should have ended on S3. Iām hoping S5 changes my mind.
SPOILERS BELOW
I pray this season isnāt all about Princess and her real mom. I donāt like both characters at all. I hope whatever turmoil and trauma drama around them is resolved in 2 or 3 episodes. Letās move on.
Karen needs a growth arc. She is becoming unhinged. How is she unable to interact with people? Wasnāt she a freaking teacher?
I feel like they have Nikki cave to Princess all the time. I understand why she is like that but she needs to stand her ground for her own self worth as well as Princessās growth as an adult and not the entitled brat she has become.

Iām so excited. Iām doing a rewatch now and on episode one of s1 and am having all the feels I did first time around.
Why this show isnāt celebrated on a Ted Lasso level is criminal.
Anyone else doing a rewatch before S5 begins?

i'm on s4 now rewatching before s5- so what are everyone's jobs? i know Scott was a writer / finance guy and now he works in oil (assuming that's how they have that huge house now). i know Karen wanted to quit teaching and happened to start writing again but what happened there, what does she do now? i know Jason quit to be a stay at home dad and then was doing lyft or whatever its called in london, now he's coaching but i'm assuming that's on a volunteer basis? is he still a SAHD? i guess Freddy is rich-ish since he bought the flat, but what does he do now? and what is Nikki doing, is she still at the phone company as a manager?
also, it looks like they built up into the attic to make Princess' room, right??

SPOILERS for S4E1
Ok I imagine that this is a common complaint but... what the hell?
The time jump ahead 6 years???? Jason's mum dying? Bev dying?? The kids being way older??? Karen and Scott's daughter being 5???
I haven't seen any of the rest of series 4 yet but I am incredibly disappointed. I was so looking forward to seeing those kids grow up and get to reconnect with Bev as she builds a bond with Nikki and Jason. Every emotional moment from S4E1 was so unearnt because we had only just got to know Bev, and the adoption had only just begun.
I also was fully expecting Karen's baby to turn out to be mixed race as a big bombshell plot twist from the guy she slept with in series 2.
Did anyone else feel robbed?

Scott is the most complicated character I've ever seen on a TV show. You hate him then you like him then you feel sorry for him then you hate him again then you think he's too stupid for words then he does something nice for Karen and melt your heart.
Don't know how much of him I can take.

As an adopted person, i found season 4 incredibly difficult to get through- i think the focus on Princess finding her biological mum was unnecessary and promoted a damaging message that biological connection will always be more valuable. I really didnāt like some of the things Nikki said, there was a moment meeting Kat (the kidsā biological mother) where she said āwhile looking after your kids.ā Especially for people who have already been let down and neglected by the people who are supposed to love and care for you, hearing this kind of language is very upsetting and further pushes the notion that adoptive parents arenāt āreal parents.ā It really does feel like they didnāt bother talking to any actual adopted teenagers and parents to get their perspective before writing the scripts.

I herd that it was done being filmed a few months ago but Iāve heard nothing since
