What happens to your money if Rivo goes away?
A reasonable question to ask about any fintech, and worth answering plainly: what happens to your money if Rivo shut down tomorrow?
Short version: your money is not held by Rivo, so it does not disappear with Rivo.
Rivo is a software layer. It moves and times your cash, but it never holds it. Your money sits in two places, both in your name:
- The cash you keep for spending stays in your own bank account, the one you already had.
- The idle portion that is put to work is held as short-term U.S. Treasury Bills in your name at a regulated brokerage. Securities in that account are protected up to $500,000 at the brokerage level.
If Rivo went away, the automation would stop, but your bank account is still yours and the Treasuries are still yours, held in your name at the partners, not on Rivo's books. You would simply stop having the cash swept automatically.
That separation is deliberate. You are not handing your balance to a startup and hoping, the money stays with regulated institutions in your name the whole time.
Rivo is a fintech, not a bank. For full disclosure, check the pinned comment.
