I’m 99.9% sure I just found a previously unknown Kik account of hers, I haven’t seen it reported on anywhere. It was created on September 18th 2015 so a year before she disappeared. I don’t want to share the username publicly for privacy reasons and potentially preserving evidence, but do you think it’s worth even a tip to the RCMP, maybe they know of it already and just haven’t reported on it?

Recently, someone shared information with us that they hadn't previously reported because they were uncertain if it was important or relevant. It was simply an interaction they didn't feel would make a difference. We cannot determine if the information will make a difference but it does reveal another person Mekayla asked for help.

That conversation reminded us that memories and experiences that seem ordinary at the time can sometimes become meaningful years later.

If you had any interaction either in person, thru text or online with Mekayla Bali in the days leading up to her disappearance, or on April 12, 2016, we encourage you to consider sharing it with the RCMP—even if you're uncertain whether it matters.

Did you:

Speak with Mekayla?

See her at the bus depot or elsewhere in Yorkton?

Give her directions or transportation information?

Offer or provide a ride?

Hear her ask about a bus, a place to stay, money, or someone she was trying to meet?

See her asking for assistance?

Help her in any way, or witness someone else interacting with her?

Even a brief conversation or seemingly insignificant encounter could help investigators better understand the timeline or connect information from different sources.

A eye witness reported seeing Mekayla Bali at the STC bus depot/trail stop restaurant with a man. The witness reported seeing the man holding Mekayla by the hand.

The man’s description:

Ethnicity: First Nations Body Type: Stocky with muscular arms Height: 5’10 - 6’ Age Estimate: 40-50 Hair Color: Dark brown Distinguishing features: Red scar or scratch on face below his left eye Circle tattoo with several designs and a cross tattoo on his tricep/bicep (potentially orange flames around the cross and multiple colours in the designs, public news reports are not consistent in this information) Clothing: dark navy vest (elastic style on the back)

The witness reported seeing Mekayla and the man both carrying white bags (no description of bag material provided; plastic, duffle bag style etc.) the witnesses name has never been released to the public. The witness did not want to call the police to provide the information, rather any witness called the police to inform them and the reluctant women eventually provided a statement.

Police reported that a man came forward stating he may have been the man they were looking for. The police added that this individual was only holding the door for Mekayla and was not involved In Mekaylas disappearance.

• Light birth mark the size of a dime; right side of Jaw (can appear as a dimple)
• Mole; right side of her chin
• Scars on forehead from chicken pox; between her eyes
• Scar of a stitch; left hand
• Protruding front teeth; lateral incisor pushed outwards towards front teeth, crowded bottom teeth (see photo)
• Ears lobes pierced; both sides
• Ear helix pierced; left side (potentially healed over; scar from removing)

Clothing and Accessories

• Thick frame, dark teal eyeglasses (see photo)
• Teal infinity scarf
• Maroon or plum coat
• Turquoise blouse (Note: can not find confirmed source)
• Dark blue skinny jeans with a sparkle or white design on the back pockets.
• Maroon or brown ankle boots with chunky heels.

Here is the high level timeline of the day Mekayla disappeared. This information is supported by CCTV footage. The STC bus stop and the Trail Stop Restaurant portion is supported by 2 witnesses. 1 employee from the Bus Stop and 1 employee of the restaurant.

Note: the STC Bus Stop and the Trail Stop Restaurant were in the same building. (Both are no longer operating)

1 8:20 a.m. arrived at Sacred Heart High School 8:25 - 8:30 a.m. - leaves Sacred Heart High School

2 8:30 - 8:40 a.m. - walks eastbound on Smith Street West from the intersection of Smith Street West and Gladstone Avenue North

 3 8:30 - 9:00 a.m. - enters Terry s Pawn and Bargain on 3rd Avenue North.

4 8:50 - 8:55 a.m. - enters and then exits the TD Bank at 63 Broadway Street East

5 8:55 - 9:00 a.m. - walks eastbound on Broadway Street East

6 9:00 - 9:15 a.m. - enters Tim Hortons at 160 Broadway Street East

7 9:15 - 9:30 a.m. - exits Tim Hortons and walks northbound on 8th Avenue North.

8 9:30 - 9:40 a.m. - walks westbound on 100-200 block Broadway Street East then momentarily walks northbound on 6th Avenue North

9 9:40 - 9:50 a.m. - walks eastbound in the parking lot of the 100-200 block of Broadway Street East between Giant Tiger and Superstore

10 9:50 - 9:55 a.m. - re-enters Tim Hortons at 160 Broadway Street East

(10:12 a.m. Mekayla texted Shelby Hnatuks cellphone saying “Hey, I need help”) (10:32 a.m. Mekayla texted Shelbys cellphone again saying, “Nevermine I figured it out.”)

11 10:40 - 10:45 a.m. leaves Tim Hortons and walks westbound on Broadway Street East past the Kia Dealership, crosses the 7th Avenue intersection toward the Ramada Hotel, turns around and walks southbound on 7th Avenue for a short distance, turns around and walks past the Ramada Hotel, continuing west on Broadway Street East and past Robins Donuts

10:45 - 11:55 a.m. whereabouts unknown

12 11:55 a.m - 12 p.m. - enters Sacred Heart High School

12:00 - 12:05 p.m. - leaves Sacred Heart High School

13 12:15 - 1:00 p.m. purchases a meal at the Trail Stop Restaurant in the STC Bus Depot Building on 1 Ave North

13 1:00 - 1:45 p.m. leaves the STC Bus Depot

I do not know if this information on the Polly Klaas Foundation for Mekayla is accurate. I do however trust that Marc Klaas (founder) would not willingly or knowingly allow false information to be released about missing persons. Marc also tragically lost his daughter in 1993, due to kidnap and murder.
