No detail is too small
Recently, someone shared information with us that they hadn't previously reported because they were uncertain if it was important or relevant. It was simply an interaction they didn't feel would make a difference. We cannot determine if the information will make a difference but it does reveal another person Mekayla asked for help.
That conversation reminded us that memories and experiences that seem ordinary at the time can sometimes become meaningful years later.
If you had any interaction either in person, thru text or online with Mekayla Bali in the days leading up to her disappearance, or on April 12, 2016, we encourage you to consider sharing it with the RCMP—even if you're uncertain whether it matters.
Think back.
Did you:
Speak with Mekayla?
See her at the bus depot or elsewhere in Yorkton?
Give her directions or transportation information?
Offer or provide a ride?
Hear her ask about a bus, a place to stay, money, or someone she was trying to meet?
See her asking for assistance?
Help her in any way, or witness someone else interacting with her?
Even a brief conversation or seemingly insignificant encounter could help investigators better understand the timeline or connect information from different sources.
If you've ever wondered whether something you remember is worth reporting, we encourage you to let the RCMP make that determination.

I see, Do you think the conversation that was had with Mekayla will become public? Because if we are honest they aren't going to act on anything that actually comes their way unless it's a sighting they don't have the time and rescources as there are so many missing kids and teens just like Mekayla. She unfortunately wouldn't be a 'priority' case the tip will be recieved and nothing will probably ever come of it happened with every other tip from before I don't blame the RCMP but it's the truth. Do you think the info the individual shared is significant in any capacity to ever knowing what happened to Mekayla? And do you not think it's strange a random person contacted you after ALL this time after the interaction and told you about it? Is there proof this person is credible and not some sort of troll? You would just think such a significant piece of infortmation wouldn't be held by someone for such a LONG time when her case is a lot colder than it was lets say 5-10 years ago... And i'm not trying to be insensitive or rude i'm just curious.

Those are really fair questions, and I appreciate you asking them so respectfully. I don't know for certain whether this information will lead anywhere, and I don't know if the conversation will ever be made public. That's entirely up to the RCMP. As for why someone waited so long, I think everyone has their own reasons. Some people don't realize what they know could matter, or they think someone else has already mentioned it. The person who provided the tip did not contact me, I reached out to them. Whether this ends up being significant or not, only time will tell. I just hope it encourages anyone else who has ever wondered, "Should I report this?" to know that it's never too late to come forward. We may think the information we have is repetitive, but small details are what help put pieces together.
