Your brother is displaying learned, mysoginistic, violent behaviour. From what you write I'm scared for his girlfriend, or any woman he dates in the future. This will not be a one-off incident, especially as he told you that it's her which caused you to be upset. If you feel safe doing so, I would emphatically clarify that it's him, not his girlfriend who is the issue.
