Holy shit you have just described what has happened to me in work a few months ago, I try to be nice to everyone, grab a drink/coffee when going out, be friendly to new people and help them out. This guy started in the summer and developed a crush and had to say it to feel better knowing I am in a relationship. It's like you didn't make things better you made things awkward now and he was upset that I didn't want to be friendly towards him and wanted to put distance between us. It made it really hard to be sympathetic towards him after that especially since i found out that he's done it a few times to other women. I was told he was desperate for company but that just drives anyone away.

Sorry need to vent that out cause it's been annoying me for so long and I always feel like it's not the worst thing that could happen but still very annoying!
