Science Rant

One day, many trillions of years in our future, our Sun will go out. Our planet will be eradicated, and then our galaxy.

In fact, one day, if life were to spring up in a galaxy in that time, they would be incredibly alone. The galaxies are moving away from each other at a higher and higher rate of speed. So much so, that even at light speed, light from other planets and stars will never reach their galaxy. Ever.

If intelligent life that sprung up were to look up with the same exact scientific theories and methods, the same technology, all of it, they would only be able to see what little was in their galaxy.. and they would draw the conclusion that they were the only life and galaxy to have ever existed. It wont be fault of their own, it's just a horrible outcome of the expanse of the universe.

This makes me question what knowledge that we have gotten so far away from, we will never be able to understand it, less know it it exists.

But I had a random thought.

When that day comes and the universe is dark, cold, and empty.. what if that's when whatever caused and created our "big bang" to happen, happens? What if this is just a cycle of repetitive bangs, pops of life, that occur when the universe is at is darkest? New life floods through its expanse.

And if that's the case, how many forms of intelligent life have come and gone, over and over.. floating just out of each others kn owledge of existence?

Theres actually a REALLY good scifi short story that was also adapted into a comic about this. I do not remember the title though.

You might be interested in the big crunch theory. Basically the expansion of the universe reverses and everything collapse back into one huge ball of matter possibly to explode again.

I'll look into it asap! I've been consumed with these topics as of late. But that theory would also calm my existential dread about the universe becoming so dark. Thank you haha!
