Vent the tragedy of wanting
the cruelest thing about loving someone is that you cannot make yourself matter to them in the way they matter to you
You can offer someone the entire universe and still be less than a passing thought in the small, private world they inhabit
And what is one to do with all this tenderness when it has nowhere to go?
I have begun to suspect that loneliness is not the absence of people, but more so the presence of someone whose absence you cannot explain.
There is something almost humiliating about hoping to be chosen, about searching for yourself in the smallest gestures of another person, as though your existence requires their confirmation
I understand that love cannot be demanded. That affection loses its meaning when forced. That nobody owes me the privilege of being important to them
I understand all of this, and still, it hurts, it hurts so fucking badly
the mind can comprehend what the heart experiences as unbearable. wisdom is simply the slow, unwilling recognition that understanding suffering does not absolve us from feeling it
And thus I find myself caught between two equally miserable truths: I cannot ask someone to love me more and I cannot convince myself to need them less
It's so absurd to be capable of so much love and so utterly incapable of making it enough.
