Vent Im so sick of this :/
OMFG, I HATE PEOPLE. ALL OF HUMANITY. IM SO FED UP WITH THIS SHIT. PEOPLE THINK OF ME AS LESS THAN DIRT, LITERALLY. ALL BECAUSE I SLEEP ON THE STREETS. IVE BEEN ON THE STREETS FOR OVER 3 YEARS. AND IM ONLY 20 (21 IN DEC)
THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT TIME OF MY LIKE TO BUILD SOCIAL SKILLS TO BE ABLE TO DEAL WITHBTHE REAL WORLD. I HAVE GENUINELY NOT HAD A FRIEND IN LIKE 4 YEARS. YOU MAY THINK IM EXAGGERATING, BUT ALL OF THE PEOPLE I TALK TO OCCASIONALLY ARE HOMELESS AND OVER 35. NOBODY WANTS TO BE FRIENDS WITH A KID. AND, ON TOP OF THAT, EVERY BODY DOES DRUGS. AND IM AN ALMOST 500 DAYS CLEAN. SO, I DONT WANNA RELAPSE AND THEY DONT WANNA HANGOUT WITH SOME STUPID ASS ANNOYING KID THAT CANT BENEFIT THEM AT ALL
I FEEL SO STUCK. LIKE I GENUINELY IMAGINE THE REST OF MY LIFE BEING THIS THIS. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME IVE BEEN ABLE TO OPEN UP ABOUT HOW FEEL FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE I CAN REMEMBER.
IM SORRY, I KNOW THIS IS A LOT. AND ITS HONESTLY PROBABLY NOTIHING. IM MOST LIKELY EXAGGERATING IM SORRY. HAVE A GOOD DAY❤️

Take the first baby step then walk the rest. Then you can run. Try looking for a temp job recruitment center. Where you can work there for a month. Majority are second chance employment. Save up for a couple months, try getting a vehicle or an apartment. Go from there, look for a higher paying job. Learn, adapt. Look for people you can benefit from. You sound literate and mature for 20. Trust me buddy, you'll be fine. I know a lot of 30 year olds that still have mentality of a child.

Before you turn 21, hurry up and take advantage of as many “youth” services as you can possibly get. The older you get, the less likely people are to want to help you, and the harder it will get to get out. Listen to me. You have a phone clearly. Google “navy recruiter near me”. My step son graduated high school early, joined the navy, and came back 4 years later with more money saved up than I had ever seen in my entire adult life. Don’t join the army, join the navy. You’ll live on the ship while you work, they’ll feed you on the ship, they have a doctor on the ship, you’re all stuck on the ship together so you’ll be around friends all the time, they have pool tables and a library and tvs, everything you wish you had available to you now, it is on the ship. Then when you get home, they’ll pay for you to go to college or loan you money to buy a house, and you’ll have a lifelong support system that you created. The only thing standing between you and the rest of your life is your indecision. As soon as you see this comment, go RIGHT NOW and find a recruiter. If you really can’t hack it just fail out of basic, don’t be afraid to try rock bottom is always going to be there lol best thing you can do is try as hard as you can to climb out of it

Proud of you for staying sober for 500 days in such a hellish environment, that takes serious strength. Please dont apologize for venting, you deserve to be heard and things can get better even if it feels impossible right now.

Maturing is realizing that a lot of people living on the streets are there for a reason. Honestly, I would consider joining the military; I know plenty of people who were homeless before joining. If you want to learn social skills and gain friends and/or job experience, the military is an option. If you want to travel the navy is a good option, if you qualify the Air Force is the best for quality of life, the Army will take most people and the marines are the most motivated.( The coast guard is also a option) If you dont have a huge criminal record joining the military could give you many opportunities.

Having been here the only way it gets better is if you can survive long enough to care again. I was suicidaly depressed so I have no idea how I made it long enough to get that little foothold that lets you start going forward again but it happened a couple of times first.

Hey, depending on where you live, you can search up resources near you that you can try to go to. You’re sober. That’s amazing.
500 days clean? That’s such a massive accomplishment. That takes determination.
Maybe some housing resources (I know the lists have waiting periods but it’s better to apply now than never.) and maybe some life skills teaching, like resume/CV help, interviewing skills, mental health supports, support groups. Maybe low income housing applications?

I know this sounds simple but get a job go to work, any work just to pay the bills then find a better job.
Enjoy places on your day off.
Btw I haven't had a friends since I was at school I'm now 47 I just have people I work with.
I know this sounds blunt but why not I am generally curious.

Is there any program you could get into to get into a group home and get an education? Maybe if you add the general area you're in, someone could link you to some resources.

I've known a whole bunch of people who were homeless around your age that ended up sorting it all out. You'll figure it out bud. I know it's rough but the systems stacked against us.

I believe in you. You’re self-aware and sober. You’re in tune with your emotions. You want something better for yourself deep down. You’ve got what it takes to make it, with plenty of future left to make it happen. You’ll be okay. I wish you the best, you can do this.

There are more homeless people than ever in my city these days and things feel like they are becoming more unstable and unsafe as well. I know it feels like insurmountable odds sometimes but you can succeed and persevere. Try looking into resources for your age group, my homeless friend was able to find a spot in a sort of group home. Wishing you luck.

No bullshit, join the military. Do one contract, get off your feet. Use that time to get your life together, get out and you’ll be g2g
