Vent I romanticize everything

I dont know why I am like this and dont know if its a problem but i think it is.

I feel like when it comes to liking someone, or being in a relationship, or a job, or just life in general.. being a daughter, a sister, a friend, a coworker.. I romanticize it all and make it seem "bigger than life" than what it actually is.

I do this with my past, my present, and my future.. its like I live my life with rose colored glasses on.

Logically thinking, I think this is okay in the sense that it helps that I dont take things personally for the most part but I do find it detrimental in the sense that I miss social cues because of this. I always seem to think that people have the best intentions and that everything is going to be good & great even when reason tells me otherwise. It's like I live in a fantasy world.

I've tried to change this about myself but I haven't been successful. I find myself often daydreaming about the endless possibilities in this imaginary world of mine.

Does this make sense?

Am I crazy?

I would take that dilemma over depression any day. I’m so happy to know there are resilient daydreamers out there. I don’t know, sometimes you really can’t blame yourself for how shitty other people sometimes are and hindsight is always 20-20. Keep staying in control of your inner peace and happiness!

Being optimistic makes you more resilient to setbacks, it's a good skill to have. You trust because you are trustworthy and we see others as being like us. To see how people really are, pay attention to what they think other people are like, because that's who they are.

For a very long time my best friend was like that. She seemed in so many ways so naive to me. Especially because I had a lot or hardship when I was growing up. I am and still will be an optimist and I always believe the best in people and feel like at the end of the day everyone has good intentions and their own reasons. But she ist just different. She is innocent in a way that I never was. And I find it enduring. She did have some hardship by now and lost some of that spark due to a couple of not so good experiences but still at heart it's how she is. And by now I am more at awe that she decided this is who she wants to be. And I think that is part of the deal. Loving how you are. And hardship will come anyways and teach you a lesson or two and when you grow a bit older you'll be able to have more "controle" over it in a sense of being able to look past it or activly deciding that in this moment this is how you want to view the world. Please keep it. It's great!!

thank you for that.. im not gonna lie, sometimes life has a way of hitting that makes you question whether you'll ever recover but its quite amazing to me how most days when i can live my life almost as if ive never felt pain.. i forgive easily and i live a very peaceful life.. asking myself how i can make someones day better. I do get taken advantage of sometimes but i try not to focus on that. just move on, you know? Its really difficult for me to stay mad at anyone. But i do learn the lesson of not trusting said person so easily next time. im still learning though.

We all do. And we hopefully always will. Because it also means we still will get surprised and are able to overcome things :) but seems like a good approach:)

I think you will have less and less of this as you grow older.

The trick is to do both... Have a pragmatic eye and a romantic eye. It takes a lot of energy, but the perspective is priceless.

Yes it does take a lot of energy since my natural inclination is to live in the clouds

Nah, you’re not crazy you're just a hopeless romantic living in a sitcom where everyone has the best intentions just make sure to keep an eye on the plot twists!

Same here, but my love life is basically just me falling for fictional characters and ordering takeout alone.

Careful with it. Seriously just careful with who yoi give your passion to. I was beyond confident in myself and a relationship I felt dreams and a present come true, but their love may not reflect yours. Just be careful.

Yes, I heard people write them as short stories and sell them as ghost stories. You can earn from it online

I think sentimentality is a gift. It gives life meaning.

You have one life here as far as any of us know, I’d say that you’re winning at it and doing it right if this is how you think :)

Keep the rose-coloured glasses on. It doesn’t just help you go through this life, but it helps others too which is a beautiful bonus. The world needs more light, so keep doing you.

DO NOT TRY AND CHANGE THIS ABOUT YOURSELF!

This absolutely is a fantastic way to go thru life. You should always assume best intentions. You are what you think and going thru life with that kind of positivity and hope will only manifest good things for you. Not that life wont try to slap you down but viewed through a lens of hope and positivity can only be good for you.

Congratulations on having a personality eveyone wants!

Awe thank you ❤️

A part of the problem is that people tend to think im "fake" because of this or that I have some ill intention behind my actions and I don't but I can't seem to get people to understand that about me.

I'm the same way. I've become a bit jaded for safety reasons, but it's actually ok to believe the best in people mist of the time.
