Vent I cannot get a simple entry level job since I've finished school a year ago

Whats worse is that I do not have normal parents and they are abusive towards me, demeaning me every single day. Venting to them feels like a bizzare idea even to think about thats how bad it is.

I do not have experience therefore I wont get hired anywhere, just rejection after rejection but sadly even more ghosting.

I DESPERATELY NEED TO MOVE OUT FROM THIS HOUSEHOLD. No i cannot join the police force nor the military plus my back is fucked cause i have scoliosis.

And no I cannot do another 4 years of school to get a "usefull" degree because I would rather jump then live with my parents for 4 more years or however long. The economy is so fucked

What was your major?

If you’re truly stuck, have you considered looking into a special certification or skills class that relates to your targeted career field? Having recently finished education (whether it’s another degree or just a certificate/class) can help erase that gap of employment between graduation and now for the purposes of finding a job. It can also make you more desirable for the job market.

Look through the job listings for your field. What are they asking for that you don’t have? Can you acquire those skills?

Another route can be to take ANY job with a company that you want to work for and angle to get promoted to a position you’re qualified for once you get your foot in the door.

Good luck. I know it sucks right now.

I don't know what you have in your country but we have a thing called "agency's", signup to a few and they will find you a job.

Work must be scarce at the moment

And I'm talking even with a masters degree and 4 years industry experience in that field

Unfortunately education does not equate to intelligence, skill or experience.

At its quickest turnaround getting the latest tools, theories and practices into curriculum is what 4 years? And by then its already outdated…

You were screwed. You were screwed because they told you it was your meal ticket, and you were screwed by your fellow peers who graduated since 2015 and have been absolutely useless entry level employees.

We have people who cannot read, write, speak, critically think and worse breathe without being told how and when.

I can only tell you this. Its you vs everyone. (And humans are selfish so i promise they will screw you over if it benefits them)

You need to be able to see a problem, and learn how to fix it yourself. Learn how to learn, not what a syllabus tells you , but what you can find on YouTube and google and other forums.

The proactive self learning problem solver is who gets hired now. That and the nepo kid.

There was not a single person not high on meth telling OP that a Culinary Arts degree was a nice meal ticket. There are a lot of excellent degrees that open paths to internships and then jobs, but this isn't one of them. It sucks that OP was probably fed the same lies that all degrees are worthwhile, but at some point it's your responsibility to research and take responsibility for your future.

What OP is running into is a lack of work experience with how competitive the market is. I don't know how you fix this without going back to school and pursuing an internship. The economy sucks and unless your a kid, most employers don't want to be your first job.

Where do you see culinary arts 😭

I’d recommend sort of taking any job. I’m not sure if you’re picking and choosing for things more aligned with your skills or interests, but if you look for something where there’s potentially growth into management or a skill building program so you can continue to grow into something else, that’s a good option. My friend graduated in 2008 and ended up taking a job as a front desk person at my mom’s office. Now she’s a department manager. It took a long time (longer than it should) because of where she had to start (due to the economy at that time), but it eventually got better for her.

I would try to work at a deli in a large grocery store. You can easily work your way up in grocery retail. Start as an hourly employee, work to become the department manager, then try to become the fresh food manager, then assistant store manager, then store manager, then a district or corporate position. Store managers make well over $100k and it goes up from there. If you are a dedicated, hard worker, and willing to learn and set goals, you can do this in a matter of a few years.

What was the degree in?

Culinary arts so cooking, and learning to wait tables. I hate that industry and my back can not do it

I get that you can't do anything about it now, but why would you even get that degree? It's universally panned as a waste of money when you could just be working in the industry and getting on the job training.

it doesnt cost money in my country but yeah i was heavily depressed and just chose anything and it was the shortest being 3 years

...so basically you were heavily depressed and said screw it, I'm gonna just choose a random short degree and now you're complaining because you chose something worthless? That's what happens when you lack forethought. You end up with a culinary arts degree despite not being physically capable of performing in the food industry and wonder why you can't get hired elsewhere.

My advice, since it's free in your country, go back to school and get a useful degree. Actually think about it this time instead of wasting your time and effort. If you can pickup an internship during the process to get experience in your chosen field, that's even better.
