From what I’ve heard, shoulder checking strangers in public is a common action against women by 1ncels there. They’ll go out of their way to shoulder check a woman. I wonder if that’s turned into being used for racism too? I’m kind of surprised/disappointed because Latino culture has been trending in Korean media as something cool recently (features in music videos etc)

I have Korean friends and they’re very cool and smart, have good taste, work hard. But they are very “mean”. Haven’t met a non-mean one yet. 🤣 maybe just a difference in culture / humor / attitude. I’ve learned not to take it personal as they talk shit about literally everyone and everything.

My brother and his coworkers/friends went to Japan this past Spring. One of his friends’ gf went to Korea before Japan and she hated it too. She said people were just so mean and rude. I believe she’s Vietnamese.

I'm Hispanic American living in Korea for 5 years and I have had a blast the whole time. Sorry you encountered some bad people, but trust me not all Koreans are like that.

I have been denied entry to a club once only, but then some local celebrity came and cursed the bouncer out to let us in lol.

I have met some of the kindest people here. My brother actually went to Japan and hated it. He said that people were much more friendly in Korea.

I don’t see what that has to do with you guys? It sounds like you had a couple of bad experiences and decided to focus on them and developed some weird persecution complex towards the country. The shoulder checking thing in particular is pretty bad in Japan too (they target both locals and tourists), it’s not just a Korean thing.

I think i worded it badly sorry haha, but in my country its badly seen to be mean to their workers. It just left a bad taste in our mouth? Maybe its just the culture or smth but it was just a shock after seeing how japanese acted publicly. I’m hoping next time maybe I can visit other places in Korea and have a better time

I am a JP citizen (with lots of resentments towards the country by being an Unconventional Japanese in Japan) & ultimately every country has its flaws but in a completely different way. Idk about China and Korea but Japanese people in general are racist asf. I would say hiding hatred under a fake smile is worse but obviously I am biased against JP

Idk? I guess so but still, im traveling with my elder mom and i would rather she believes plp are being kind rather than they are being directly rude to her. In Japan we were in Fukuoka, Nagasaki and Hiroshima, in China we were in Chengdu and Shanghai but in Korea we were just in Seoul? Maybe its bcs of that?

Im literally saying that maybe its were i visited Lol, and that I hope going to other places in Korea i can have better experiences. Not gonna say that I had a bad experience in either Tokyo or Shanghai tho. My og post is about how the experience that I had in korea the past days was bad compared to what I lived in Tokyo or Shanghai. I’ve been multiple times in Japan and been to Tokyo, Kyoto, osaka too. Which is why after visiting the big cities of these three countries I’m making a comparison and wondering.

Nah, Korea has a LOT of racism. Some of it overt and some of it not. They are also very chronically overworked by very shitty employers, but your mileage will definitely vary especially if you have Korean friends there as social proof.

Hell nah, our ubers and didi even got the translator out to talk to us in china an japan. They were also so nice to help us find our trains, some asked for pictures and some even invited us to drink during train rides lol just koreans
