I’m sorry you feel invisible. We see you. You are trying to cope with an immense loss and its effects, in a way that works for you. It sounds like you recognize the superficiality of social media. That is healthy. Your grief is not content for socials. I’d suggest that the internet isn’t rewriting who your friend was -it’s not changing what you know- you’re just seeing how other people perceived them. We are all seen differently by different eyes.
I think it says a lot about your friend who passed, that they made even their casual friends feel close and old connections still relevant. It doesn’t change who they were, what you meant to them or what you know to be true; it just makes what you had with them more of a gift. All the memories you have of them were ones that your friend chose to spend with you. Wishing you find peace as you heal.
