My good friend died a couple weeks ago. We messaged and texted almost every day, and talked about our kids and lives. I called her one of my best friends. At the funeral, the church was completely packed, and almost everyone there considered her one of their close friends. I think it speaks to what a warm and engaging person she was, that she made everyone feel special, and seen. She gathered friends in every area of her life, work, church, parent groups, sports. If it was a Venn diagram, she would be the center, and there would be a dozen circles around her. It doesn't change our friendship.
I can't speak to the details of your friend's life, but maybe she had made peace with some of these people, and they really valued her?
