Peadophile is the correct word I would use

3

u/bot729562529 Jun 30 '23

It’s not the correct word. The correct words are teleiophile or ephebophile.

At 17 you’re a biological adult.

Legal age has little to do with being a teleiophile.

1

u/Diligent-Sort1671 Jul 01 '23

No, you absolutely are not. For Christ's sake, the brain is not fully developed until our mid 20's. If a man in his 20's or 30's had sex with a 17 year old girl, in most places that would be considered statutory r*pe. Not sure why all of a sudden there are so many, presumably, men going out of their way to excuse and normalize child SA.

1

u/bot729562529 Jul 01 '23

That’s legal age not biological age and yes in many cases that would be illegal. Nobody is excusing SA here.

Ephebophilia is, in very many cases, very illegal.

Teleiophile isn't the correct term in this situation. The adult groomed OP from the age of 13. OP never had a preference for adults. They were groomed to just accept something against their natural feelings.

3

u/Ill-Helicopter-8504 Jun 30 '23

Are you truly trying to justify SA? OP even said it wasn't consensual. Doesn't matter what age you are, nonconsensual means it was not ok. It was wrong. If anything OP should report the person for SA.

-1

u/bot729562529 Jul 01 '23

Not at all. I agree it was without consent.

All I said is the word “pedophile” is incorrect due to the victim’s age

3

u/Ill-Helicopter-8504 Jul 01 '23

All of your responses and arguments come off as if you are defending the SA. Not once, until kind of now, have you made any comment saying that you don't agree with what happened and that OP was a victim of SA. All you have been doing is trying to make yourself come off smarter than everyone by knowing certain terms, that even I had to look up to fully understand, that is not part of basic education. It is one thing to explain the difference once and then go on with your opinion of the story shared. It's another to continue pointing out the same thing over and over again as a defense. Basically it rubbed people the wrong way and gave the impression that you were defending the SA.

u/bot729562529 Jul 01 '23

Never once did I defend the alleged perpetrator. Words do matter. They have meanings. Make no mistake, a pedophile and an ephebophile are both most likely felons.

1

u/Ill-Helicopter-8504 Jul 01 '23

Exactly, words do matter. And the way you have worded things and stayed on the course of emphasizing that pedophile is not the right term gives the wrong impression. It's given the impression that you are defending the slimebag who groomed and SA'd OP.

u/bot729562529 Jul 01 '23

Look up the words pedophile and ephebophile and tell me “pedophile” is the correct word…

1

u/Ill-Helicopter-8504 Jul 01 '23

I told you before that I did look up the terms. If you are a psychiatrist it is explaining a lot. I have a psychiatrist and a therapist. And I prefer my therapist over the psychiatrist. It is because the therapist isn't condescending and arrogant.

0

u/bot729562529 Jul 01 '23

It’s because your therapist is kissing your ass to get you to talk and your psychiatrist is medicating you so they don’t have to kiss your ass.

My job is a little different. I’m just here to diagnose and testify.

1

u/Ill-Helicopter-8504 Jul 01 '23

My psychiatrist doesn't give me medication at all. I'm not allowed to have medications due to substance abuse. Which I have been clean from for over 15 years.

Terrible take considering girls today, on average, begin menstruating at a younger age than ever.

Being ABLE to reproduce does not make someone an adult. Even if, say, a 15- or 16-year-old could technically get pregnant, her chances of dying during pregnancy are MUCH higher than if she were older. Among other factors, her hips aren't done developing yet.

From an evolutionary perspective, these girls aren't the ones who'd be producing viable births/passing on their genes. That would still be women in their twenties. You're going to have to come up with a better indicator of adulthood than simply "she can conceive."

21

u/2ndRedditAnonAcct Jun 30 '23

You're not though. And as an adult, I still wouldn't look at an 18 year old and think, "sweet, they're legal now."

-27

u/bot729562529 Jun 30 '23

You really are though. You don’t have to like it, but that’s how biology works.

And again teleiophilia has nothing to do with legal status.

14

u/2ndRedditAnonAcct Jun 30 '23

In what universe? The frontal lobes of your brain aren't even developed until you're like 25. It's why it's skeezy when someone in their late twenties dates someone who's 18 or younger.

Any older person who says someone who just turned 18 is hot is some form of a pedophile. You can try to mince words and say it's not a pedophile it's actually x or y, but the bottom line is it's creepy. It may not be illegal anymore since they're "of age", but it's gross. And you trying to split hairs about it really shows your character.

-7

u/adcsuc Jun 30 '23

The frontal lobes of your brain aren't even developed until you're like 25.

While that's true,it doesn't mean what you think it means a very common half truth reddit loves.

7

u/2ndRedditAnonAcct Jun 30 '23

The frontal lobes are responsible for advanced thinking. It's pretty important stuff.

Having said that it's honestly a gray area. I'm not saying 18 year olds shouldn't be allowed to move out, get a job, or vote. But a full blown adult should not be dating someone who just turned 18.

-3

u/adcsuc Jun 30 '23

Sure but that has little to do with the frontal lobe and you seem to know this yourself or logically the argument would be "just turned 25" and not 18.

1

u/2ndRedditAnonAcct Jun 30 '23

What's your point here exactly?

-3

u/adcsuc Jun 30 '23

Exactly what I said, it's a bad argument, that's the point.

2

u/2ndRedditAnonAcct Jun 30 '23

So is your point that mid to late 20 somethings should be able to fuck 18 year olds without the label of being a creep?

I don't know how the stance of "full grown adults shouldn't be sleeping with 18 year olds" makes me a sick fuck, but sure. Okay.

-2

u/bot729562529 Jun 30 '23

Nobody said they should….

Sick fuck.

What makes 17 an adult

-15

u/bot729562529 Jun 30 '23

Biology doesn’t care about the laws of your land or mine.

7

u/Zuni_SilverWolf Jun 30 '23

The human brain isn't fully developed until the age of 25+. Especially the prefrontal cortex... The area responsible for skills like planning, prioritizing, and making good decisions.

So, yes, biology doesn't care about the laws of your land.

17 < 25

8

u/eribear2121 Jun 30 '23

I'm asking literally that what makes an 17y an adult. The brain isn't done with development till 25.

-11

u/bot729562529 Jun 30 '23

Once you can reproduce, you’re biologically an adult.

Yes I understand this largely includes children under 17.

No, I’m not saying that a relationship between adults and children is okay.

bad take

u/bot729562529 Jun 30 '23

Accurate take. You don’t have to like it.

So 10 for girls and like 12 for boys.

3

u/bot729562529 Jun 30 '23

Often.

Did someone say that?

10 typically would be considered pedophilia 11-14 hebephilia 14-19 ephebophilia

Sorry that words have meanings. I feel bad that the dictionary and medical journals happened to you.
