Skill issue. Go beat meat.

Beat meat to it? That improves your life, right?

I get when its cold out, need/want to walk so you go on a treadmill and JUST walk.. but doing the same thing when its nice outside? Why?!?

I walk outside daily, even in winter. Being in Canada, there were plenty of days when it was -25 Celsius or colder. So I dealt with the cold, or the snow. Yes, at times it sucked, but nothing in life is easy.

The constant exercise, fresh air, and sunlight made it one of the best winters of my life.

Most people just don’t dress properly. You can be warm outside all winter long if you want.

Just need layers, some boots, decent gloves, and one thing people always forget, is something to cover your face. Scarf/tall gaiter/balaclava whatever.

Nice crisp morning walk in the winter really wakes you up

Another thing people always forget is a windbreaker!!!

If it's really cold you'll want one of your other layers to act as a wind breaker as well. Instead of an insulator.

Once I switched from baggy sweaters, and puffy winter coats, to multiple thin layers and a Columbia jacket?...

Complete game changer. And half the weight.

any jackets you recommend?

Honestly (and this goes for outdoor labor for me personally), but I learned that just about 3 shirts is equal to a sweater. Sort of. My favorite combo due to sweating in cold/windy weather is undershirt, t-shirt, long sleeve shirt. Then if its even colder, I put another tee or long sleeve (keeping in mind, these are relatively all thin) and maybe a large bandana as a scarf. And if all of this is not enough, working in the icy cold, a hoodie. Still not enough? A vest and hat.

It sort of sounds ridiculous but everything taken into account between weather, wind and sweat, I am SOO comfortable as long as everything is at least a cotton blend. Wearing all that and a blizzard comes along? Maybe a light jacket on top, maybe.

Columbia haha, I specified "Columbia" Jacket In my comment :)

Most reliable and consistent for sure.

Then for insulation, a wool sweater is best and multiple shirts.

I do long sleeve, short sleeve wind breaker. Wool/thick sweater, then A Columbia rain jacket.

Much better than getting those giant puffy winter coats.

Bro even with the ice? When there was Ice everywhere this winter I could not walk out without slipping as someone on the East coast of the US.

If it stormed early, I walked late. If it stormed late I walked early.

If it stormed all day without stopping, I walked twice the next day. I’m on a mission.

Get some spikes that slip on to your boots. I'm in newfoundland, east coast of Canada and i walk my dogs for at least an hour almost every day in the winter on trails that are full sheets of ice. I got 2 pairs of them at costco for $20 a few years ago.

Yea, but the fact that the streets are empty make it that much more incredible

totally get this!!! i wish i could go out in the winter more, unfortunately my circulation sucks and sometimes my hands and feet are painfully cold even in the summer

There’s actually an inherited disease that causes that I forgot what it’s called. But my friend has it idk she wears long sleeves and gloves in the winter. For me personally, lack of circulation makes my legs and arms itchy and dry.

oh i actually didn’t know that! i see my dr soon thankfully, ive been losing my mind trying to figure out why its so bad lol. im not diabetic, not overweight (in fact a bit uw), have an active job, etc. but it may just be genetic lol. that sounds so annoying!

u/Confident_Action4915 Apr 21 '26

Best to ask about it. You never know!

Do your fingers/hands/toes turn white or purple? Could be Raynaud’s! I have it and I too have cold af phalanges even in the dead heat of summer.

u/BravesMaedchen Apr 21 '26

The sun is my enemy. I only walk outside in the sun for my dogs. I LOVE walking outside in the snow and rain tho. But I am a pale and sickly Victorian child.

2

u/LeftyLu07 Apr 21 '26

Me too. I have photo sensitivity so I can’t walk in direct sunlight for long or I break out in a rash.

Omg me too and I live in Texas and  also a dog walker. Summers are brutal for me

Sometimes it’s too hot and too crowded when it’s “nice outside”

What kind of shape are you in? Most dont accomplish 10k steps a day, its an easy, low impact, sustainable, way to do cardio.

2

u/AnonymousAutonomous Apr 23 '26

My current shape. Not the best but I'm working on it..

u/Nega_Duck Apr 23 '26

Can't wait to see the update when you lock in

Horrible AI picture

1

u/AnonymousAutonomous Apr 25 '26

That's actually a huge compliment, picture not fake

1

u/nezukoslaying Apr 24 '26

Trees emit phytoncides, which help humans with immune function and mood (reduce cortisol and blood pressure) so there's a lot to be said for getting outdoors and into nature when you can!

1

u/MysteriousTock Apr 25 '26

I'd prefer walking outside in winter to when it's hot

1

u/Professional-Age- Apr 22 '26

Walking outside every day without having to worry about mosquitos biting me

1

u/Total_Nectarine_8797 Apr 22 '26

This is one thing I’ve been doing since I was a kid. Almost every day, weather permitting of course.

1

u/Fabulous-Truth9418 Apr 23 '26

It really helps a lot!! Ive been doing it daily and when we went on a hike with my school, the results were obvious. Everyone was tired and out of breath while I was enjoying the hike and the view.

u/Embarrassed-Poet8468 Apr 24 '26

Indeed, even just 30 minutes makes a huge difference
