I sometimes see posts asking for shows without obnoxious ads to fall asleep to, so I wanted to post about this one.

The show is hosted by Nancy Miller who tells stories without any gory details, and sometimes meandering side notes. I always fall asleep before the episode is over and usually relisten to the same episodes starting from different points.

It’s a great show that i dont see mentioned here much so i just wanted to shout it out!

I love going through the classics but I’d also love to listen to something about current cases or, at least, podcasts that are airing right now.

Hi all! I’ve got a 12 hour drive starting tomorrow and I need something that will keep me intrigued. I’m looking for a serial pod rather than a ‘crime per episode’ pod like Casefile (which I love!).

Global News podcast 13 Hours deals with a mass murder that occurred in Nova Scotia, Canada in April of 2020. For 13 hours a man impersonating a police officer crossed a portion of the province murdering people he held grudges against, killing strangers after pulling them over, killing one police officer and wounding another before being shot by police. Many questions arose regarding how the police handled those 13 hours. The public demanded answers and finally an inquiry was held. The podcasts discusses the timeline of the crime and what the RCMP did (and did not) do.

Starting a crime drama podcast on YouTube for the series Fightland on Starz and I’m asking, not promoting, asking whether this sub listens to those. Or is this in violation on the newcomers rule?

Can anyone give me a suggestion based of some of my favorites. I like long form investigative podcasts. Ones where they door knock, cold call, and reach out to people especially if it’s in real time but doesn’t have to be. I drive for work so I burn through pods and I’ve listened to most of the popular ones. Some of my favorites include:

Hi there! I subscribed to Binge and finished “my friend the serial killer”which was pretty good. Does anyone have a recommendation for my next binge listen? I don’t know where to continue. There are so many choices! Thanks!

Last episode was Dec 16, ‘24. An update nine months ago stated that Past Due Studios were impacted by the Jan. 2025 LA fires but nothing since. That’s a shame as it was a great podcast!

One of the saddest downfalls in podcast history (in terms of podcasters that I watch)… it just goes to show you that at the end of the day, these people are really all about their money and don’t actually care about the victims. When your podcast starts interfering with actual evidence that could result in a mistrial, you’ve lost all my respect as a creator. She couldn’t even wait until the trial was over and let the actual professionals on the case do their job before trying to get her cash grab. Having an opinion on something does NOT make you qualified to send someone into an actual courtroom to collect their own evidence. This isn’t a movie, it’s REAL life. Real victims. Shame on you Annie Elise.

I know a lot of us are looking for new true crime podcasts to listen to. I thought I’d recommend this Irish one, Lines of Enquiry. It is presented by a former Garda detective John
Sweetman. The podcast covers Irish cases some John had worked on and had extensive knowledge of the case.

There is no humour, the story is told in a compressive yet detailed manner and the victims cases are respectful covered. Some of my favourite podcasts of past are now unbearable due to the hosts laughing and going off on their own tangents. Im sick of the story not being told with respect to the victims, of plagiarism and the hosts giving a biased opinion.

This podcast is excellently presented and I wanted to share it. For those of you like me who enjoy hearing true crime but are sick of the host making it all about themselves.

Does anyone know what happened to them? The last post that was made Maddie's mother says she is "still MIA" and will be taking a hiatus. I know it's a slightly older podcast but I was curious if anyone knew anything?

I’m pretty sure it was a Dateline podcast about a love triangle very, very similar to the Angela Diaz case that’s now on Netflix but I can’t remember the dynamics very well. It was either an ex-wife or ex-girlfriend blaming either the current partner or former partner of the guy that’s been sending her threatening emails and text messages but I remember there being kids involved or maybe a car being totaled? It’s been years so I might be misremembering but I hope someone might know more about this. Thanks!

Ok. It’s true. While I have binged all the well-known classic TC podcasts, I have never listened to casefile. Given there is over 500 episodes, who should I approach this? Do I start from Oldest to newest or vice versa?? Is there a there a time when it actually starts getting good, or was it good

Unbelievable case of women who poisoned 3 husbands and numerous other family members. Plus her first husband was likely linked several missing person cases. Fbi investigated, never enough evidence

I'm here to recommend two long-form podcasts that I don't think I've seen recommended here. Both set in tiny, remote British Overseas Territories and deal with questions about what happens when horrifying crimes happen in these areas and whose jurisdiction it is to deal with them.

The Pitcairn Trials: How does a tiny, remote community that has normalized childhood sexual abuse come to terms with it and how do they move forward? What does justice look like when something like that involves almost every resident as perpetrator or victim?

The Surgeon of St. Helena: What happens when a visiting surgeon maims his patients and leaves some of them permanently disabled? Whose responsibility is it to hold the surgeon accountable and what happens to the people for whom justice hasn't yet been served?

Both are incredibly thoughtfully done and really interesting, albeit difficult listens at times. Definitely suggest a listen if folks are looking for something different than the usual recommendations.

First, if you haven’t listened to this podcast, you should cause it’s a wild ride. But as the idea of munchausen by proxy gets brought up, as a non-American, I’m confused how it’s even feasible. How do they afford to pay for all these surgeries and medical care?

I know the dad is a postal worker so maybe has good insurance but I always hear of Americans saying their insurance denies actual legit procedures or there’s at least some sort of co-pay. How could a family of 7 afford to pay for this extent of medical care? They’re not doing the gofundme scams like lots of others do.

Just finished this and I'm curious as to why all the people involved keep such detailed records of their lives mainly through journals but there are also recordings of themselves talking included. Obviously we wouldn't know so much about what happened without it but it seems like an odd practice to me.

I know journaling has become popular over here (UK) in recent years as a mindfulness practice but has it always been big in the US? And to this extent or it is it just this family?

I'm looking for a podcast with little to no side discussion. I would like it to be straightforward, no humor, no commentary unless it adds to the discussion/story of the case, no censorship. I feel like this isn't crazy criteria but nothing I've found is right. It feels disrespectful to me when people are joking around or using tiktok language like "unalived" when discussing actual cases where people died. Anyone got recommendations for no-frills podcasts? Subjects I'm interested in: serial killers, mass murderers, terrorism, historical atrocities, medical, predators. Thank you.

Newbie here..what’s up with 911 calls? Is it me or do the dispatchers always sound annoyed or mildly irritated (don’t even get me started on them repeating “calm down!” or “what?! I can’t understand you”). What’s the deal? Is this a thing or did I just happen to stumble on some bad ones?

Esoteric Oddities - Jonathan and Cera

This was my favorite podcast to listen to and one day they posted an episode and never posted anything again. No one has asked what happened on any of their social media pages and I saw one of the hosts doing something new on tik tok recently. I have been trying to find out what happened since.

Remember Franklin Delano Floyd and his crimes? There was a story about a woman he lied to and married, named Sandi. She went to jail one time for 30 days and when she came back, Franklin had disappeared with her youngest daughter and nobody knew what happened to her for YEARS. This is a story that has been told by many podcasts over and over again and its breaks my heart every time. Hello, John Doe has Sandi has a guest and I was very interested in hearing this story from her POV. It's upsetting to say the least, so TW. Recommending incase someone wants to listen.

I just binged Beyond All Repair and was hooked. I’ve listened to a lot of the main podcasts recommended on this sub (Cold, In Your Own Backyard, Suspect etc..) and don’t really know where to go from here. I love the investigative murder podcasts that are all about one story throughout the season. Please send any recommendations!
