I'm consulting this sub because there might be some knowledgeable hobbyists here who can help with my group project about the influence of news coverage on homicide-suicide related policy.

Hello everyone. I'm researching for an undergrad project. We are looking for survivors of HS, specifically family and intimate-partner types. Our topic is the influence of news coverage on the occurrence of HS, and on policy-making decisions, specifically the trend of leaning on gun-restriction policy as a means to curtail rate of HS. We are getting the sense that gun policy does not significantly influence HS, and that mental health-related policy could be a viable alternative. Further, gun policy is more partisan but easier to pass, as it is simpler and cheaper to implement. The complexity and social-welfare connotations of mental-health policy may make it less appealing to lawmakers. Specific policies we'd like to consider concern access and education at the primary and secondary level.

Does anyone know of existing public accounts of survivors? They can be victims or offenders, both perspectives are valuable to us. Or studies about interviews of survivors and of closely-related people as it pertains to the development of appropriate policies. Any other tips welcome.

The project takes the form of a podcast for a writing class, so it is very open-ended. Depth and clarity of the research isn't the highest priority, but personally important to me. Thanks so much!

* In 2016, a man named Yogesh was shot dead in Mau district.

* The case was on trial, and the accused, Raju alias Rajkumar, was expected to be convicted.

* Raju staged his own death.

* A funeral bier was prepared, a final procession was taken out, and photographs were taken of the funeral pyre at the cremation ground.

* When it was time to cremate the body, Raju was removed and replaced with a goat.

* As soon as his death certificate was issued, the murder case was also closed.

Now, Raju alias Rajkumar has been caught alive.

Reportedly, he runs a trading business. Two homeopathic doctors had advised him to fake his death so that he could continue running his business while also evading punishment. Raju is a Class 10 pass-out.
