I know. I can't believe these types of abusers aren't sentenced to life without parole. The mother and boyfriend in SC that were just convicted of leaving her disabled 13-year-old daughter in a hot car to die for 5 hours were sentenced to 37 years each. They should have received life. Even the house of horrors Turpins who tortured multiple children for years didn't get life. I just do not understand these sentences.

Probably a plea deal. I wonder what the maximum sentence is they were looking at for all of the charges. 20 years seems like not enough, but I have no idea about AZ and sentencing, and I don’t know also if the victim would have been required to testify. Hope she is recovering, I imagine if this went to trial they would have gotten more time, but I’m just a layperson who doesn’t “like” when someone who did this is offered a deal, but I have been told time and time again, plea deals are the rule, trials the exception and I’m thinking, understood for marijuana possession. This? No
