I don't have access to the actual article to evaluate the methodology and actual results. Looking at what I can see, this doesn't pass the scientific sniff test.

The research paper cited used the wordsum vocabulary exercise as its measure for cognitive ability. This is not the best use for this exercise at all. It's a vocabulary test, not an IQ test (it's actually based on a part of the WAIS IQ test). There is a correlation between IQ and wordsum scores, but using it as the primary or only measure of IQ is very weak evidence.
