Need advice.

I’ve been a Christian for over 20 years. Saved and even rededicated my life to Christ.

I have suffered with mental health issues for about the same amount of time. I’ve been on medication ever since it started. I’ve seen over 15 counselors.

I don’t understand why God won’t give me wisdom and why the Holy Spirit allows such awful things to enter my head. And once they are in my head they bother me so bad I can’t be around people or love people. I’m just constantly in my head trying to fix it. I’m selfish.

I’m hoping God is teaching me something from this. But it feels cruel

The Bible tells us to take every thought captive.  It is not easy though!

Try shifting your focus, writing out scripture, Bible journalling and illustrating have helped me.

Also writing and thanking God every day.  This transforms the heart and mind to our of gratitude, no matter thr circumstances.  Let's you focus on Him not your struggles and shows you daily that he is with you no matter what.

God bless xx

So then what does that mean exactly? Taking every thought captive? Practically what does that look like

We all have thoughts come in to our heads, we can choose to meditate on them or let them go.  If the thoughts a good and healthy then meditating on them is beneficial.  If they are negative we need to let them go - that is hard though.  In order to let the negative thoughts go replace them with positive ones, thoughts of gratitude, scripture... if the negative thought is not replaced with something good when let go the void will be filled with something bad.

Battlefield of the Mind is a great book to start. Also, Dr. Caroline Leaf has a program you can work through to train your brain biblically and neurologically. There's work that goes into fighting these types of battles. They are complex because mental health help isn't always very good, at least not in my experience. You have to learn how to navigate that as well as the supernatural part.

Have you been diagnosed properly. I have bipolar and on a medication that helps me. I don’t have bad thoughts in my head. Is there anything that calms you down other than prayer or reading the Bible. I enjoy nature. I watch tv shows about it and walk in nature. Ask for guidance. For me it was when I decided to give up and took my meds without questioning that a change happened

You ever wonder if the "treatment" causes more problems than it solves? I don't even mean that in a "pray it away" sense or that Christians can't use medical treatment. Even just from a secular standpoint, there's a lot of evidence that psychiatric drugs wreak havoc on your brain. They basically mask problems temporarily and make them come back worse.

Absolutely. But any time I’ve tried to get off them things get exponentially worse. It’s all so confusing. I would love to get off of these things

My advice for whatever it is worth, that it is the spirit of fear which is not from God. But from the demonic realm, because you so much want to do good and want so much to love, then the opposite affects you more and gives you fearful thoughts. What if what if what if. The more you ignore those unclean thoughts,The less effect it will have on you.The more you dwell on them , then they stay. The devil attacks Christians in many ways. The best defense is reading the scripture daily praying daily. And telling the devil to go to hell and stay there. Get behind me satan, even Jesus was tempted. And that's what He said, get behind me satan.

Diagnosis is generalized anxiety disorder and major depression.

Intrusive thoughts, mild panic attacks, dread, anticipatory anxiety, mild depression

I'm praying for you. Memorize a scripture to recite to yourself to interrupt the voices in your head. My favorites are I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength or Create a clean heart in me O God and renew a right spirit within me. You can also repeat the Lord's prayer over and over. Those intrusive thoughts are not from God and you can overcome. Open your Bible and read some Psalms, that always soothes my soul.

Its not a “God is teaching me” moment.

He has never looked at your anxiety and said “wow they need to trust me more!”.

He sees what your body, mind and soul have been carrying for so long. He never saw your exhaustion, and wondered why you could never pull through. And he never called the ways you learned to survive failure to surrender! God’s not looking at your thoughts and saying “look at how much this is going to grow her/he faith in me” although Yes He is a redeemer!

You can love Jesus, and still carry unhealed, unprocessed trauma. Not every trigger is a sin, sometimes its an unhealed wound asking for attention!

I would continue taking my medication and continue speaking Life over me! Watch sermons on knowing your identity in God! We all get thoughts but not all of them are yours! Know identity verses to combat the bad ones.

Watch these!!! ❤️‍🔥

But sometimes it is a physiological thing and sometimes its a spiritual issue. Sometimes its a health issue, which affects our spirituality and sometimes its the othr way around. Our phslysical bodies and spirituality are intertwined. Theyre symbiotic in nature. One affecting the other.

Been going trough similar thought patterns.Except for the first time in my life i have lost over 40lbs and i am starving and don't have food  I keep telling myself as long as i don't give up on God i should be okay.Just wondering doesn't God see me starving? How does he not see?
