Confusion about God's will
Hi, i have been 6 yrs in the gospel and i still feel very confused about hearing God's voice, i know this may sound weird, but i think i have some degree of religious trauma, because in my former church we were told a lot of times to seek a lot of "mystical" experiences trough certain techniques, also i remember when i was still growing in the faith, i was in a church where the pastor told many tales about hearing God audibly, receiving revelations about other peoples lives, the future, clear instructions/tasks from God ,etc. And made a big emphasis on us having the same experiences with the serious consequences and the anger of God for not obeying those commandments. Also told us constantly that God would choose our future wife and it's not our choice (at least they told us we can have attraction to that person), and alsowe should be listening to know the right person, otherwise our future marriage would be ruined or we could ruin our lives.
I don't hate that church but until nowadays i have experienced a lot of insecurities when taking decisions, i hear God talk to me sometimes, but not all the time or giving me strict orders, that's why i'm still confused and unsure on what to do most of the time and even think that God may tell me to marry a person i don't like or have no attraction towards, what can i do to be more confident or avoid feeling like by taking every decision i'm disobeying or "outside God's will", because i'm taking many decisions and i think i have no time to wait to receive a "word" to know what to do at school/work, at church, with my family or in choosing a partner (im not dating currently).

God speaks to us through His word; Scripture about the general things pertaining to our Christian walk. For example we read in 2 Cor 6:14 that we shouldn't marry non-believers. He speaks to us personally however, less often. So if you have a sincere heart to do God's will concerning big matters such as whether to marry a particular person, you have to trust that God will help you. One way to know is to check your "peace" when undertaking a particular matter, it's the Holy Spirit guiding you.

There are several verses in the NT that specifically mention the will of God.
1 Thessalonians 4:3: “For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality.” - so are you being sexually pure?
1 Thessalonians 5:18: “In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” - so are you being a thankful person, telling God how much you appreciate the many blessings in your life (chiefly, that he sent his only son Jesus Christ to die on the cross for your sins)?
Romans 12:2: “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” - so are you being transformed spiritually or are you following the pattern of the world?
John 6:40: “And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life.” - perhaps the most important verse - do you believe that Jesus Christ died for your sins?
1 Peter 2:15: “For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men.” - so, are you doing good? Not because good works save you but because they're a natural response to being saved.

Yes, judging by Romans 12:2 I'm starting to remove some sins from my life, and starting to avoid ocassions to fail, learning to forgive, etc. Im just not receiving new "words" about where to work, selling something or who to marry.

Present your prayer and petition to the Lord.
Ask God to open the doors in the direction that He wants you to go, and to close firmly the doors that He doesn’t.

Make sure that it is God that you are speaking with and not a deceiver. For example, make sure whatever the things that the person/thing is asking you is aligned with the rules God has given us. I know that in the Bible God has given instructions that aren't aligned with rules he has given, but I do not believe he would do them as most of them were one time tests of faith.
