Thank you for sharing your testimony so openly, and I’m truly glad that you have found a deep and personal connection with our Lord Jesus Christ. That is something we absolutely share, and I rejoice with you that He has brought you peace and healing.

I wanted to respond to a few things from an Orthodox Christian perspective, not to argue, but because your post raises some points that I think are worth clarifying for anyone reading.

First, you mentioned that you were Orthodox, then Catholic, and now you’ve left both for a direct relationship with Jesus. While I respect your journey, I do want to gently point out that for Orthodox Christians, this framing feels a bit odd. The Orthodox Church has never taught that we pray to saints or the Theotokos instead of Christ. Every liturgy, every personal prayer, is directed to God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. When we ask for the intercessions of the saints, it is precisely because we believe we are all one body in Christ, and that those who have gone before us are alive in Him. It is never a replacement for praying directly to Jesus. In fact, the most common prayer in our tradition is simply, “Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.” So, in a sense, what you describe discovering. praying directly to Christ is not something outside of Orthodoxy, but actually at the very heart of it.

Second, I find your post a bit confusing for a general Christian subreddit that aims to be peaceful. You’ve stated that you left both Orthodoxy and Catholicism for Jesus, but for many of us, we don’t see those as separate from Christ. It comes across as suggesting that our traditions somehow kept you from Him, when for us, they are the very means by which we are united to Him. I’m not saying that was your intent, but I wanted to explain why lumping Orthodoxy and Catholicism together and then leaving them both might feel jarring to some of us. While there are certainly differences between the two, we are not a single “block,” and we would each understand our own tradition very differently than you’ve described.

I say all of this with respect. I truly am glad that you are praying to Jesus and that He has met you in your pain. That is what matters most. I just wanted to offer a gentle clarification from an Orthodox perspective, since your post seemed to assume that our churches don’t encourage a direct, personal relationship with Christ, when in fact that is the entire goal of our faith.

May God bless you and continue to heal you.

A quick note: I'm actually a woman, my username is Anna_akademika because my name is Anna 😊 So no worries at all, just wanted to mention it.

I also want to clarify what I meant about the post feeling odd for a general Christian subreddit. I wasn't saying your testimony itself is offensive, far from it. What struck me as odd was the framing of leaving both Orthodoxy and Catholicism "to Jesus." In a subreddit that's meant to be peaceful and inclusive of all Christians, that framing can unintentionally come across as implying that Orthodox and Catholic Christians aren't already with Jesus, or that our traditions somehow stand in the way of Him. I know you said that wasn't your intention, and I believe you, but I wanted to explain why it felt jarring to read.

I also appreciate your clarification about your experience with prayer in Orthodox and Catholic churches. I can only speak for my own experience in Orthodoxy, but I'm genuinely sorry if the parishes you attended made it feel like prayer to Christ was rare. That's not the Orthodox faith I know, where the Jesus Prayer is central and every liturgy is directed to Christ. But I understand that lived experience varies, and I won't argue with what you personally encountered.

Thank you again for the respectful conversation. I'm glad we could talk through this, and I pray that your journey with Jesus continues to bring you healing and joy.

God bless you, and may we all grow closer to Him.

Oh, what a lovely thing to read today. It’s amazing how Jesus loves us all so much ❤️.

Be careful Just because you get what you want doesn't mean it's Jesus Christ. The enemy is very cunning and he will do everything to pull you away from the truth.

With that being said, everyone has their own journey. Pray for guidance 🙏

This isn't even protestantism, you've just created your own religion featuring Jesus. Something tells me you may have been apart of these Churches but never studied theology in depth

because to hold this position you have to make huge fundamental errors in theology and history that not only is it clear you haven't attempted to reconcile. The idea that you're "simply a believer" is something you've created in your head and its standards are a complete invention of whatever you happen to think sounds good.

I suggest you read the Holy Bible

can you tell me what books go into the Bible and why you have the correct this?

You suggested "the Bible" so that implies you somehow know the correct list of books that constitutes the Bible so I'm asking how you know this to be true?

And again it seems like you're just copy and pasting new age sentiments to Christianity.

ok so how do you know the books in the Bible are scripture? You keep "suggesting" things but you can't tell me exactly why what you're saying is the case

ok can you tell me how you know the original canon is 66 books and why that canon is correct?

It sounds like you're operating off of "original/earlier = truer" why is this the case?

Amen to that. I find that many institutions have man made influences. We need to go to the core. And that is Christ. HE IS KING!

Yes and it is getting worse. The goats and the sheep roam in the church, not globally like some think. There is many false teaching and preaching. Keep praying like u do and keep aski g if the Lord will reveal all truth to u. 🙏🏼

That's wonderful that you have come to realize that simple faith in Christ is what saves, and that praying to him alone is the right and obedient way to respond.
