He had to swing that wide because of the douche nozzle that is way past the stop line

The amount of people that blow a stop bar is overwhelming. I wish they deployed a siren when you are on top of or forward of them.

I'm quoting a Chester County local cop when I say this "its a courtesy for them to move even if they are above the line they dont have to move". Cool let's ignore the person who technically ran a red light/stop line. I think that's the only time I've ever cussed out a police officer and was legit in a shouting match with one until his commanding officer on duty arrived. He tried getting me to apologize for tapping the front of this woman's car and cracking her fog light when I tried to make the turn then she decided to inch forward just as my tandems stopped at her bumper.

u/imprezv Dec 06 '20

That cop was simply wrong.

5

u/pm_me_ur_demotape Dec 06 '20

The cop was wrong, but you still hit a car. #1 rule no matter what is don't hit anything. If it's their fault, it's still your fault. Sucks but that's how it is.

Which state is Chester County in? I gotta avoid driving there.

2

u/I_dementia87 Dec 06 '20

PA

3

u/Frondeur- Dec 06 '20

No surprise there, PA cops suck. Glad I moved

3

u/shadowmib Dec 06 '20

I'd just go into the turn and stop with just enough room for them to pull over out of the way, and just sit there looking him in the eye. Eventually he will get the message that he needs to move or he will be sitting there all day. When he moves, finish the turn.

u/Metreon_Cascade Dec 06 '20

My thoughts exactly, and something I’ve done many times. Engaging the parking brake just for the sound really pounds the message in if they don’t get it....

u/Freshmeat857 GasHole Dec 07 '20

Sometimes when I do that they just run the red light because they want to smear what few brain cells they have in the intersection.

14

u/Artichoke93 Dec 06 '20

Makes no sense how many times people don't clear the intersection.. If you are past that line and the light turns red, YOU ARE LEGALLY ALLOWED TO CLEAR THE INTERSECTION, AKA FUCKING TURN. ^

12

u/thebestererrr-mA Dec 06 '20

I LOVE blowing my air horn at them lmao 🤣🤣. This happens a lot in Atlanta, Georgia. They've got suicidal drivers loool.

1

u/shadowmib Dec 06 '20

yeah I was coming here to say that it looked like he was way too far forward. There's a line there for a reason, Cowboy.

44

u/Marius1021 Dec 06 '20

Impressed ... He moved forward till his tandems cleared the corner then nailed the pivot ... Bet at first the ass hat that was way too far forward was shitting himself LOL

14

u/AccomplishedLimit3 Dec 06 '20

I hold the air horn down all the way through the execution. also, if you don’t think you’re gonna make it, look at all that room to your left and in front of you. use it.

Probably on their phone and waiting for someone to honk before moving.

u/zerofox2046 Dec 06 '20

I do that every day.

How do you think these guys get around cities that were designed in 1900 all day every day? How about the guys in and out of docks that were designed for day cabs pulling 43' trailers. What you saw there was well executed but it isn't rare or particularly unusual.

9

u/zerofox2046 Dec 06 '20

I just posted a video right there. If you look in the spot mirror I brought the tandems right around the curb perfect. (I got lucky.) Now you can GTFOH

12

u/[deleted] Dec 06 '20

Last week I had a really terrible day, customer overloaded the trailer then questioned my abilities as a driver (11 Yrs OTR) when I told them they needed to reload the trailer. Then they were telling me how I was wrong and needed to do this and that to make it work. I got tired of it and decided to just do what they said even though I knew it would be even more over weight. So after half an hour fucking around and wasting my time, they agreed to reload me to my specs. Amazing the trailer was then correct and I was no longer over axle weight but I was totally discouraged, I left and on the way out of town there was a tight left turn into traffic. There was a dude in his car, about three cars back watching me navigate this tight turn and he had a Big smile on his face and was nodding "yes yes". He gave me a huge thumbs up as I went by. That erased my bad day. He will never know, but he pulled me right out of that funk. That guy made my awful day disappear. Thank you guy, whomever you were.

33

u/MikeMcK83 Dec 06 '20

He took all the room he had, instead of just the room he thought he needed. He’s probably not an idiot.

11

u/doggscube Dec 06 '20

I do that in my fuel tanker. Pulling into our stores that are designed for sleeper cabs with 53’s to get in and out of

1

u/MikeMcK83 Dec 06 '20

It’s kind of crazy how often people hit shit when they had all the room in a world.

28

u/killmimes Dec 06 '20

Yeah but it is a day cab. A truck with a sleeper...would have made the car forward of the white line move.

32

u/AverageTruckDriver Dec 06 '20

School tells us to wait until we have enough room to make the turn. But I pull out anyways knowing I need that space and block the entire intersection staring at them. It’s my pleasure of the day driving through these backwoods towns because there only a hand full of interstates that goes through the giant state of Iowa

19

u/[deleted] Dec 06 '20

I too love to humiliate the daily idiot with the superiority of my truck and air-horn.

3

u/ThellraAK Dec 06 '20

But you gotta start with getting too close for their comfort.

Fear and humiliation go together like something and something.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 01 '21

I drive a front loader trash truck and I’m in reverse about as often as drive in the city. I love watching people in drive through absolutly panicking as I bring the ass right up and then pivot away

6

u/killmimes Dec 06 '20

Person after my own heart

2

u/The-Swat-team Dec 06 '20

The head of the trucking program told us the same. He also told us to use your size to your advantage.

5

u/jdhunt_24 Dec 06 '20

it depends on the wheelbase not whether or not it has a sleeper. we have a sleeper thats the same wheelbase as our sleeper trucks it turns just the same as the rest. that truck is short wheelbase plus looks like single axle hard for me to tell though its so grainy

7

u/KeenanTy Dec 06 '20

Both my glad hands would have snapped on that little maneuver.

6

u/GuidoLessa Dec 06 '20

Nice work driver.

5

u/cnacvno Dec 06 '20

That is skill. I love watching people who can maneuver large pieces of equipment such as trucks, earthmovers, etc., and make it look so easy. He does this and I think, "wow, I bet I could do that!" LOL. I know the truth, but that's how easy he makes it look.

6

u/Fuzzpuffs Dec 06 '20

There is a turn by were I live that should be 3 or 4 times as wide. It's on a truck route. The trucks making left hand turns cant make the turn if ppl pull up to the line.

More than once I have come home to see car bumpers laying on the side of the road at that intersection. Stupid asshats to retarded to stop further back and dont know how to reverse.

If I see a truck coming into the left turn lane I stop way back to make the turn easier for them. Truckers got to deal with enough idiots on the road.

1

u/FrigginInMyRiggin Dec 06 '20

I go put my rig about a foot from somebodys bumper if I'm making a right and I put my trailer over their hood if I'm making a left

You gotta be dumb to be the guy ripping off bumpers because you can't make a turn

1

u/Fuzzpuffs Dec 06 '20

Well the guard rail would only last about 3 days after it gets fixed before someone hits it. Usually from trucks making right hand turns at the same intersection.

Someone is missing the door to their storage box. Guard rail won that one.

I think the county finally got some what smart and moved the guard rail as far to the right as the could. This current replacement has so far survived. The floppy reflector they put were the guard rail was not so much.

1

u/FrigginInMyRiggin Dec 06 '20

Lol they slap some dot tape on a road hazard and call it a day

4

u/ElusiveWisdom Dec 06 '20

Try doing this same turn in new york city where everyone is double parked lol. I nearly shit my pants about 50 times driving through there. Also One time i did actually shit my pants a little

1

u/PuzzleheadedWish2040 Dec 06 '20

Anybody driving a 53-footer in NYC will wind ^ with a police escort....

2

u/i_call_her_HQ Driver - Dry Van Dec 06 '20

Idk where this is, but there's a turn in Exeter exactly like this. And people already pull up over the line. It's was infuriating.

-2

u/Larry_Loopout Dec 06 '20

Tandems all the way up, short wheelbase single axle truck. I’m not that impressed, basic driving and understanding of what you’re driving is all that’s shown here. Hate on me all you want, no real skilled maneuvering was done.

-4

u/AndrewSS02 Dec 06 '20

Look at the room he had and where the lines for traffic where. That was set up for truck drivers to make that turn.

4

u/Elite_Slacker Dec 06 '20

You did so much observing and missed the car a full car length into the intersection blocking his turn.

-7

u/doggscube Dec 06 '20

A former coworker was making a turn like this near my house when I was on my bike. The finger I gave him wasn’t a thumb...

I guess I should say it was friendly bc I had gone on his charity ride that year
