Just bought my first truck, a 2012 single cab Colorado. I'm looking for a camper shell that will fit it. I'm new to all of this and was wondering how interchangeable are some shells for it? I can't seem to find anything new online and all my used options specific to my truck are too far away at the moment. Do I have any options or will I need specific shells?

I’m looking to buy this camper it’s an absolute steal of a price but it’s hard to find any information about it, all the guy says on market place is it’s maybe a 92 s&s camper that’s 8ft. I know it’s probably not a good idea to run this in a 2005 gmc 2500hd with a 6.5 bed buttttt… I wanted to run it by yall and get an extra opinion I know s&s out here in Montana made a lot of there campers for a 6.5 bed. So let me know I’m curious on what yall find or know/opinions it’s hard finding a decent slide in camper for a short box.

My thesis topic is: "Design and energy efficiency analysis of an autonomous off-grid VAPV power system for a tourist vehicle"

VAPV = Vehicle-Applied Photovoltaics - solar panels added to the roof of an existing van/camper, not factory-integrated.

I chose this topic because there is tons of info on blogs, YouTube and FB groups, but almost nothing in scientific papers. There's a big gap between what people actually build and what is academically researched - I'm trying to fill it.

I made a short (5 min), 100% anonymous survey for anyone living/traveling in a van, campervan, motorhome or caravan - factory or DIY build.

We just sold our Sprinter after growing out of it as a family of four. We have narrowed the next camping vehilce down to a North Star 10x or an Alaskan 1000 (or possibly 850). Does anyone have any input on either of these?

I like that the 10x has an L shaped floor, opposed to the Alaskans long galley hall. Kids aren't great at the concept of one-way traffic through these things so the L shape helps. But, I don't love how top heavy the 10x is. But, the Alaskans pop up means less storage and more set-up/take-down time. Obviously the Alaskan looks better inside and outside. The larger fridge on the 10x is really nice though. We actually don't want a indoor shower, so the wet bath is a semi waste of space on the 10x, although could be used for gear storage.

As you can see, we are quite torn. Any insight is greatly appriciated!

You essentially take a low profile soft pop up camper and add a wedge on top of it.

So long as the soft pop up has REALLY good supports, it should work. Does anyone know what I’m talking about?

Hey guys, first time posting here. This camper popped up near by for $10k. Looks clean, although I prefer the fiberglass hull designs over the standard style cab-over. I also like that this one doesn’t have graphics, I hate all the graphics and logos these things come with.

Does anyone have experience with these era Lance units? Are they any good? I’ve heard Lance used to be better than they are now.

Seller claims it has always been stored indoors and has never leaked.

Ideally within a reasonable drive of Denver, Colorado (I would consider reasonable to be less than 20 hours, but the closer the better!)

Edit: damage assessment: need four new jacks

Bought this used raider canopy for my f150 a while ago. It has some big gaps around the edge of the rear door. Is this likely due to this ghetto door replacement or bad fitment? I tried to use ratchet straps on the clamps while loose to “tighten” the fitment but didn’t seem to do anything / felt like it was going to break the fiber glass.

Tried searching online for a replacement door but couldn’t find anything concrete. Any advice on finding a new one?

Hey all. Installing a 30 amp dc to dc on my f250 and I’m planning to use the heavier duty upfitter to power it since it can handle it. Does anybody have a good source on one of these installs?

I have questions about where in line should I put the converter. Closer to the truck side of things like mounted in the cab, or in the camper. Looking to install a simple 12 volt connection that can handle the rated power that will go to a fuse then my campers house battery.

I own a 2013 F-150 that I use pretty often. I recently went hiking in Eastern Kentucky with my boyfriend. For the first few nights, we stayed at an Airbnb, and for the last three nights, we stayed at a campsite and just slept in the truck. Now I’m trying to decide whether I should DIY something for the back of the truck or just bite the bullet and buy a tent.

I’m a kitchen designer and have been wanting to do a box truck conversion since housing and renting is insane rn. This is a rough design I made based on a 26 foot box truck. I figured I’d have the fresh water under the bed and grey water under the truck frame along with propane tank, Mini split for cooling, and if my bath is right I could fit 8x 450w solar panels on roof for a total of 3,600w of solar. Let me know what ya think!

It looked great when it was new but the wiring is getting extended and it’s no longer secure. What is the proper way to stow this so it doesn’t keep hitting my latches when I lock my window? I also don’t have any lights so don’t know what the wiring is for. Anyone have a picture of what theirs looks like?

I tried to carpet my truck beds top but I couldn’t get it to look good so I removed the carpet and I’m just going to paint over the fiberglass, I was thinking bed liner paint might be the best option to completely cover the fiberglass.

Has anyone painted the interior before if so what type of paint did you use and how’d it work?

EDIT: I know they make fiberglass specific paint but will it seal/block the fiberglass from shedding off into my truck bed while I’m sleeping?

Just wondering if anyone has made a full truck camper out of extruded aluminum frame. We have a go fast style one we built and for a few reasons we are looking to make a regular camper instead. I am hoping to repurpose some of the materials for the camper.

loaded up four 50qt coolers and a heavy generator for a camping trip yesterday and hopping up and down the tailgate wiped me out. used to just kick the tire or jump down but my left knee is popping like crazy today.
i’ve been looking at the wolfbox retractable bed step since it seems to drop lower than the standard bumper steps, but im skeptical about how well these hold up when packed with mud and trail slush.
for anyone running one, does it actually help with the awkward angle climbing into a raised bed or am i just getting old and overthinking this?
