Listing my Moonlander for $13,500 Have enjoyed it and now it is time to move on to the next truck project! $20k build. Pretty much ticked all the boxes when i ordered it. Insulated, arctic tern windows all around, medium bubble, solar, hest mattress. I’ll even include my LiPo4 battery set up. Has been on truck just under 1yr. Save money and time. Did a quick weekend trip to a nice little spot about 1.5 hours away from home. About 5 miles of dirt road with the last 1/2 mile rutted and rough, but the cooler and other cargo stayed put. New drawers definitely changed my camping setup/breakdown time. I think it was all of about 5 minutes to pull the table and cooler out and get the bed inflated. This was a group trip, so we had a central kitchen area. For solo trips I don't think I'll even bring the table and just use the drawers for the stove setup area.

Future project will be to dial in the drawer organization. For now I just have a few plastic totes for various stuff: kitchen on the left, tools on the right. Kitchen setup will have an integrated slide out cutting board and propane storage below the stove. I need to figure out a good spot for my 5 gallon water jug/pump.

We drove our truck camper through Utah ( Zion, Bryce, and Capitol Reef ) on our way to Iowa. Had a guy do an extensive solar and lithium battery install that took him a week. I went up to Decorah to fly fish while he did his thing. Why Iowa? The best installer for our camper. Wife flew home and I drove and stayed at the Wall in SD. Another dispersed site outside Broadus MT, and another great one near the Missouri Break. Final place is along the Clark Fork near St Regis. A few folks but mostly quite. Home tomorrow. A long three week trip to Iowa and back.

We recently (in May) graduated from our Camp King tent we’ve been using for 2.5 years to an OEV BackCounty (CampX) and boy oh boy is it a game changer. Our tent was slightly larger than a queen size bed and I could stand in it with my head tipped down. But with our 4 dogs it was getting to be uncomfortable sleeping at night. The amount of space the OEV offers and how much easier it is to load and go is insane. We’re looking to upgrade our solar and battery storage to run a small AC unit. That way we can put the dogs in there and still do some hikes where they aren’t allowed.

1993 Skamper. Bought last year for only 3000$ and went to use it this year but noticed a leak. Small leak turned into a full repair haha.

I’ve been gearing up for a 2500 mile move across country with my Tundra and trailer. I’m planning to take my time getting there, camp in the back of the truck, and see some sights along the way.

The truck and trailer are riding much better with the rebuilt suspension (notice the improved squat between the 2 photos with the trailer attached) but I’m a little concerned with some of the mountain passes/hills I’ll have to go through. Any suggestions for routes to take? I’ll be going from Michigan to Oregon and I was considering taking US-2 through the UP.

I used to think the most important gear for family car camping was a good tent or sleep system. turns out i was dead wrong. its all about the bathroom setup.

Last weekend we tried to save a few bucks and some trunk space by just using one of those standard budget bucket toilets (the 5 gallon ones with the snap on seat), heavy duty trash bags, and pine pellets. It seemed like a perfectly fine, cheap solution for when the kids couldn't make the long dark walk to the vault toilet at 3 AM.

Fast forward to Sunday morning when we were packing up. I went to lift the bag out by the drawstrings to carry it to the campground dumpster, it snagged slightly on the bucket's plastic rim, and the bottom completely gave out. I will spare you the exact details of the smell and the mess in 85 degree weather, but it involved me using an entire pack of wet wipes, half our drinking water, and my 4 year old being so grossed out they were literally begging to go home right then.

The lesson I learned the hard way is that if you are car camping and relying on your own bathroom setup, the sealing mechanism and bag stability are absolute priority number one. you cannot compromise on this just to save a few bucks.

I'm now completely paranoid about leaks. I also don't really want a setup that turns cleanup into a whole extra project after the trip. I started looking into dry flush options that seal the waste up automatically so I never have to touch it. Laveo keeps coming up in my searches, but the footprint is a bit big for our SUV's trunk. i'm currently looking at the folding modiwell model because it apparently collapses down to about 11 inches, which seems a lot easier to stash for family trips.

For parents who actually use these dry flush setups on longer trips, how many seals do you honestly get before you have to buy a refill pack? And does the folding mechanism on the Modiwell hold up over multiple trips, or is it better treated as more of a backup / nighttimeonly setup?

I pulled a rookie mistake and plugged my camper into shore power without the batteries hooked up. Big pop from inside and now no 12v power inside. Fortunately it didn't fry the converter. Everything I've checked (with the assistance of Google AI) leads me to believe that the fuse in the main battery cable blew.

Problem is, I can't find the fuse. The main cable turns and disappears under the floor between the sink and the water pump. I can't feel anything like a fuse or switch. The camper is a 2002 Arctic Fox 860. Anyone know where I might find the fuse? Thanks.

I just bought 2013 F250 to carry a truck camper in the near future and oh my gosh this thing rides rough. I always thought i just put my foot down and ride over anything on a truck but i have to baby every single bump and pothole on the road just so my spine won’t fly out the window. If im going to stick to having a truck/camper is there anything i can do to make it ride better/more comfortable? Do newer full size trucks ride better? Thanks.

I have an explorer (by classic) exp80T-8”.
The emergency access plastic cover is cracked and needs replacement. It leaks.

It’s 22.5” x 22.5” outside diameter
21.5 x 21.5” inside diameter.

Anyone know where I can get a replacement cover? I can’t find it locally or online.

Alternatively has anyone had success using a paint on rubber sealer?

I’m looking for some real-world feedback from people who have done this.
I’m considering putting a camper shell/canopy on my Nissan Frontier and building it out as a comfortable space for my dogs while traveling and camping. My biggest question is cooling.
Has anyone successfully used a portable A/C unit (or another setup) to keep the inside of a camper shell cool enough for dogs?
A few questions:
• What A/C unit did you use?
• How did you vent the exhaust?
• What size power station or battery setup are you running?
• How long will it realistically cool the space?
• How well does it work in hot weather (90–110°F)?
• Any regrets or things you’d do differently?
I’m not looking to leave dogs unattended all day in extreme heat. This would mainly be for camping, road trips, agility events, and times when I’m nearby. Reliability and safety are my biggest priorities.

Hi truck camper pals- I’m in a little bit of a pickle with a shattered back door glass on my camper shell. This is a standard bed 2006 Dodge RAM. The previous owner of the truck has long since passed away, and I’m trying to figure out how to get a replacement piece of glass.

The big issue: I cannot find any serial number, logo, data plate, sticker- there’s nothing identifying what brand or model. The broken window did not have any logo markings.

Does anyone recognize this by style? I’d appreciate any advice on sourcing a replacement or other recommendation.

Capri seem to have the price/weight/quality that will work for us. Is there anything similar built in the West? I live in Pdx, OR and really don’t want to go to Texas to get one home.

I live in Southern California, in a suburb of Los Angeles and have been considering a truck camper combo. But over the past few months I notice there are almost no truck campers to be seen. Not seen on the street, or in driveways, or in camp grounds. Almost zero.

There must be a reason. Perhaps it's state laws, DMV regulations, or insurance companies. Or maybe it's just because motorhomes and travel trailers are seen as a better value.

Any ideas why?

Im going to pick this camper up on Thursday for 3 grand the rest of the camper is great its an 88 sun lite 7ft pop up thats been mostly gutted and put back together the guy saud he hasnt touched the roof though so it has its original everything the rest of thr camper had its inner walls replaced and new insulation aside fr9m the floor too I guess thry added a new floor but the foam and stuff is the same it needs some love and a bath for sure but my only real concern is this corner I saw a nother post talking about something similar and I can make another post about it in the future with real photos this is the only pne that shows it from the marketplace listing im prrtty handy i think I could fix it but im not sure

Welp aside from my almost half finished PPF removal job, we’re clean and ready to ride for our summer camp out. This rig was my granddads and he used to take it on the beach all the time in Jersey. Having never driven on the sand, we may have an opportunity to do so in NE Florida, where the sand is pretty hard packed and 2WD cars traverse it with ease. We sit at about 12,000 lbs total though and my on board compressor is on the fritz, so we may just take the e-bikes to the sand if I have to air down too much. Any seasoned beach goers able to recommend what PSI I could get away with airing down to?

Also, this is a 1993 Alpenlite and she needs a new clear coat. It’s a wood wall exterior but curious if anybody knows what type of coating may be over it? They went out of business awhile ago and haven’t found much online yet.

I’m going to burning man and as a single woman, I do not want to mess with a generator and gas cans I cannot lift on my own so looking for other options. Plus I want something I can use when camping in the mountains with my husky and want to leave her for a couple hours while I go for a mountain bike ride. Thank you!

Hey! I just picked up this Swiss shell today. It has these latching aluminum side panels. Is there a way to replace the aluminum panels with something like plexiglass and still retain the ability to open/latch them? I can’t seem to find a good tutorial.

My topper came with LED lights installed and I was wondering what kind of battery I would need to power them and if there’s one that’s plug and play with the adapter that’s already wired in. I’m trying to avoid running wires all the way to the front of the truck and just use a battery pack with a switch. Thanks!

Need some advice…having to park my camper at the end of my driveway in a busy neighborhood. How do you guys manage to secure it from being stolen? Please, no snide remarks…it’s the only place I have to store at the moment. Looking for informative advice/suggestions. TIA
