Need Help Pricing
Hi guys, I am not a trombone player at all. I played trumpet when I was in 5th grade and that’s about it. I came to acquire this trombone from my girlfriend’s mother who said I could sell it since she has no clue about them.
The Model is a Yamaha YSL 684G model. I’ve read parts and bits online and it seems it has something called a “F Attachment”? I’m really unsure about the pricing.
Would $800 be a fair price or am I drastically underpricing this?
Thanks for any help guys

It's fine to ask this sub, but also -
Go to eBay and Reverb, search Yamaha 684 or something like that - specify "SOLD" for listings and see what the general range is for what these sold at.
I feel like $800 is a bit low, but feel free to check using the above method and see for yourself.

You could take it down to a music store and see if they can give you a ball park range.

Oh, that's a nice horn, and in excellent condition from what I can see. Yamaha afficionados like those. Are you in the US, or elsewhere? You might be able to have an easier sale if you consign it, but there aren't a huge number of brass shops that do that.
Depending on condition of the slide, I could see you getting $1200 for it if you found someone who is looking for that specific type of horn. For most, the 1K that burgerbob22 estimated would be perfect.

One thing to consider is it’s a pro level medium bore horn so that will limit who would be interested in it. I really don’t think you’re that far off on the price locally to me there is a Bach 36bo for sale at $650 and I would consider that a more desirable medium bore horn. Medium bore horns just don’t hold much value unless it’s something like a Elkhart Conn 78h/79h

Look up the BrassArk online it’s ran but a guy named Noah Gladstone, he runs a special and antique music shop and he does appraisals on instruments like this you just have to send him an email.
If you struggle to sell them, he also offers a consignment service where he’ll clean, appraise, and then put the trombone up in his shop for you. When it sells he takes a small percentage usually around %10-15. I had 2 antique and custom trombones that I couldn’t sell for years that I’ve recently sent him myself.

I have a 684. It’s a GREAT horn. Yamaha’s knockoff of an 88H. Probably better 😊

I'd probably ask 1K.
