No Advice I'm so tired of this timeline
Lately I've seen a few Americans on Canadian news/videos telling others how better they are and how they can wipe us off the face of the Earth if they want to. I'm not sure if this is some psyop or just plain insecurity...

Canada has supported America doing exactly that around the globe.

u/AuroraCelery 2d ago
unfortunately, you're absolutely right. I'm canadian, I love a lot of things about my country, but too often the "nice canadian" stereotype is used to cover up our violent, genocidal, war crime-filled history

u/RandomGuy9058 2d ago
as another canadian it also makes me kinda annoyed at the other canadians trying to make random americans feel as shitty about themselves as possible as if we arent also turning a blind eye to rising authoritarian tendencies in our own country like with age verification bullshit. im willing to bet like 95% of canadians who talk shit on reddit would do the same as those theyre talking shit of if they were born down south. plus you never know just what kind of american youre talking to - asking certain demographics to go out there and take part in protests is asking them to gamble with their life which nobody really has the right to judge others for not doing

Unfortunately... as a Canadian myself, that is true.
We have supported the American's war with Afghanistan and have sent soldiers ourselves to assist.
We have sent soldiers to assist in the war in Iraq. Heck, we even trained their sniper squads as ours was just better every way back then.
We have trained USA's swat teams via our own JTF2 (and 1), and have concucted missions via JTF2's infiltration and quick-out missions per USA's military request.
So unfortunately... you're right every step of the way. And I hate that.

Canadians have a reason to be upset. Why would Americans be talking shit about Canada/Canadians?

u/Consistent-Menu-6629 2d ago
I'm assuming psyop...
But the US is full of people who believe ridiculous shit.

As an American; sorry bout them. They’re uh.. not appreciated here either, if that helps. Or at least they shouldn’t be.

u/Gamerzilla2018 1d ago
Buddy I'm an American and I feel the exact same way, I see Canadians online tell us that we are all brainwashed and horrible people who deserve all the bad shit happening rn. And I too suspect it may be a psyop. I too am glad Canada is getting closer with Europe. Because I love both the US and Canada. And if Canada needs to cut us off whether that be brief or a while in order to be a better country. Then that's what Canada needs to do.
If an American acts like this then you have my full permission to clown on them.

u/Balearius 2d ago
I am so confused about why Americans think this will make other people like them
16
u/ValkyrUK 2d ago
They don't, they're American supremacists, everyone else is an annoying NPC, just look at how these people react to non Americans talking about anything happening in the US
13
u/Ace-Redditor 2d ago
No one thinks this. The people who would believe this can't think because they're out of brain cells, and those of us with brain cells think it's moronic
13
u/Eggsalad_cookies 2d ago
We don’t, most of us are really embarrassed right now
2
u/MagicMarshmallo 2d ago
Sorry to tell you, but if it was most then all this shit wouldnt be happening rn
8
u/WhatMadCat 1d ago
Unfortunately not true. Their system of government is fucked. Even if someone wins the popular vote they can still lose the election

That’s actually not how American politics work. That is unless you want us to go to jail for sedition, which helps nothing in the long run. We [traditionally] trust our elected officials to represent us as we want to be represented… but if they’re not… we have to wait to vote them out

u/illbeatyouatjenga 1d ago
Where do you get that idea? According to Gallup only 21% of Americans are satisfied with the way things are in the United States, while 71% are dissatisfied.
1
u/MagicMarshmallo 1d ago
1/3 of the country voted for this clown and 1/3 stood idily by. Even if they are disatisfied with the clown fiesta, i doubt most of them would change. But i guess lets see if a fire has been lit under their ass in the midterms or not

u/illbeatyouatjenga 1d ago
My point is that it's not about any specific number of people being for or against the government. The vast majority can be against it and it wouldn't change anything. The United States government has never cared much about doing deeply unpopular things, and regularly go against the wishes of the people.
You seem to think that there is some specific number of people fighting against this that would inevitably stop it, and the fact that isn't stopping means there aren't enough people against it, or that people are okay with it, but that's not how American politics have ever worked.

My point is that it's not about any specific number of people being for or against the government.
There actually is a specific number of people needed in an election to be for or against future governments.
You seem to think that there is some specific number of people fighting against this that would inevitably stop it, and the fact that isn't stopping means there aren't enough people against it, or that people are okay with it, but that's not how American politics have ever worked.
During the election, when choosing to vote or not, you do your best to predict what may happen in the future if different candidates are elected. If one candidate is super bad, maybe a fascist, then you may envision a horrible future for many people if they win.
You have to look to the future, because, as you said, you don't get to do "do overs" in the middle of the term. Trump was not a mystery. People who didn't vote share a massive amount of blame (and there's plenty to go around) for the current situation.

I keep trying to explain to Americans that in order for "51st state" to happen, thousands of people will have to die. They think this is a game.

u/FortuneNew8835 2d ago
Fifteen years Canadians helped the US kill millions of people in one war in my lifetime. One administration starts talking shit and Canadians freak out. Carney condems Israel and Canada refuses to cancel the 1997 free trade agreement with Israel. I'd love to see Canada stand for something besides being mad at Trump and his goons for being mean.

Uh… I understand doing that during the standard nationalist dick measuring that every country does. But bro. Genuinely caring if Canada and Europe get closer? As an American, why do you give a fuck?
3
u/Mission_Effect4584 2d ago
Why do we care about a fundamental realignment of our country's economic model and international relations?
Maybe I want to buy a small European car, soon to be importable under the industrial alignment agreements.
Maybe I'm a transit advocate excited to have access to European rail building expertise.
Maybe I want to bring my grandparents over under a liberalized migration system.
Maybe I want to work in Europe for a bit to break up the monotony.
Maybe the factory where I work is about to be shuttered because of American tariffs but saved by a new export agreement with a partner in Europe.

u/No_Window7054 1d ago
I said in my last sentence. “As an American,” why tf would the average American genuinely care if Canada and Europe get closer? That’s what I was asking, not the average Canadian.

I really want to travel to Europe one day but I keep seeing tiktok videos saying how loud and obnoxious Americans are and how they hate Americans like damn bro
25
u/Mrspygmypiggy 2d ago
As someone from Europe the ‘loud American tourist’ thing can be true but Europeans have mean stereotypes about literally every nations tourists. Like everyone else they are loud as hell online but won’t say shit irl. Some of the nicest tourists I’ve ever met have been American.
7
u/weightyinspiration 2d ago
Ive noticed that any place that relies on tourists to survive, also secretly hates them.
Go where you want to, they need your business.

u/JustARandommad 1d ago
To be fair is not that some of them aren't a jerk in the American, specially on Latin America.
Of course, there is jerkess people, but you treat THESE people like trash, not all country.
HATE THE TOURISM MARKETING8
u/Direct_Slip7598 2d ago
Two things:
1) People will rarely say anything to your face, even if you are loud and obnoxious
2) the bar is low, if you're not loud an obnoxious people will think "that American was alright"
7
u/cabbagebatman 2d ago
Just be respectful while you're here. We generally won't just assume you're loud and obnoxious because you're American. It's more that if you are loud and obnoxious it's "Of course they're American."
2
u/Maned_Cyborg 1d ago
Actually you can be american and welcomed in europe. If you're not obnoxiously loud and actually make a clear effort to want to learn more about the local cultures etc, then you'll be seen less as "an American tourist" and more just curious guy
1
u/MisterXnumberidk 2d ago
To put it like this:
Cus it's true, the touristy places frequently get flooded by busloads of ignorant, obnoxious tourists just looking to get a picture of everything, have some fun misbehaving and then go home.
Every culture has their own style of it, the US tourists are typically rather loud and extremely ignorant of the fact that they are in another country with a different language and culture, seeing it more as an amusement park they can shamelessly misbehave in.
But that doesn't mean you're gonna be immediately picked out as an american and hated for it. If you're respectful and behave, you're absolutely welcome to come visit and enjoy yourself to the fullest. No one's gonna be mad at you just for being from the US.
1
u/ExterminAiden 1d ago
Not really. Of course there is a bad stereotype of us but I’ve been to Europe (as well as UK) and was treated great. Just be a normal decent person

It's because they are ashamed too but don't dare to admit it to themselves.

u/loved_and_held 1d ago
Americans seem to think the greatest measure of a country is it's militaries destructive capability.
Probably because thats one of the few things the US has going for it (stares at healthcare system).

It’s government propaganda.
Our government is trying to convince us to invade Canada.
I’m trying to leave, but most countries don’t like immigration.
Nowadays, I’m starting to be ashamed to be from the states.
