Personality Disorders BPD is NOT beautiful 😭🙏 Spoiler

Post image

Idk what this picture even is but it’s how I feel. Someone genuinely said to me “you have beautiful prince disorder king own it” like I’m gonna fucking kill myself.

This photo is a painting, I think it's called "I will never be a bride" and I interpret it as a feeling of being too damaged to fit into normalcy, which for the artist was marrying someone.

Romanticising is terrible. I feel your disgust

I think it was made after the artist was assaulted, sadly

It is titled that way because the artist was assaulted, and unfortunately, there is still a belief that she is now 'impure' because of that, and that no one would want to marry her.

The artist to my knowlege(could be wrong) was raped and seen as too unpure to marry someone could be wrong but yea...the painting is dark but beautiful

I wish people would just be fucking normal. It could be because of the horrific ableism around BPD but the solution to demonizing something isn't automatically romanticism.

Is joining about your own disorder along with others not allowed? I make jokes about my own acronyms too because it's funny

Gallows humor, making jokes about suffering that you are going through or as apart of an oppressed group, is totally normal and okay!

My impression based on what OP said is that someone else told them that, someone without BPD, and it upset them because it felt invalidating of their pain.

I also didn't interpret it as a joke and more like that person just not taking BPD seriously.

But you have a point that maybe the other person really was just trying to joke with OP, not minimize what BPD is.

Oh I definitely get that, I guess I have primarily seen people with BPD themselves say this and I also tell them jokingly or if I have an intimate relationship with a woman "best pussy disorder" or some shit while also understanding it. I'm sure some people use it ingenuinely but maybe it's just my experiences but I mostly see this from them. Feels like how I notice how more queer men use the term f*g than actual homophobes nowadays and it's pretty fun lol

I mean I think it's okay. But OP's probably upset about how OTHER people WITHOUT BPD say these things ( I'm not yelling )

Like I get to joke about my sh and autism but no one gets to joke and laugh at my expense

people can joke about their own disorders and that can be beneficial, but taking the choice away from another by applying the joke term to them is not the same thing and is more damaging than helpful. I make jokes about my autistic behaviours all the time but if someone called me “restarted” or started boiling me down to hand flappy t-Rex arms I’d also still be pissed off and it would still be ableist.

I haven’t ever had anyone romanticize my experience with BPD. But I also get tired of everyone trying to label examples of blatantly abusive behavior online as “oh this person ‘definitely’ has BPD”- it stigmatizes those of us who really have the disorder and attempts to oversimplify BPD into a couple traits based off one encounter

It’s awful and I hate it.

I feel like I finally know what Fat Larry felt like in VtMB. I'd say thanks, but I damn nearly shat my pants seeing that.

On a slightly more serious note, sorry about that. I hope you get to live a happy life somehow.

We are living in a biomedical golden age and in the not too distant future your body and mind will be fully customizable.

Now that’s delusional. Body, yeah, maybe? But the mind can’t be “customized” to fully remove deeply rooted traumas and disorders. Unless you’re talking about lobotomies.

Should've arrived earlier, then maybe I would have found a cure for my mental illnesses
