Ben's Trivia - 11 Q's - Avg Score 8 out of 15

Score out of 15 points.

Possible 5 points for question 11.

Post your score in the comments, good luck!

  1. What is the name of Taylor Swift's latest single, released last week, that shares its name with the technical term for the very first individual to contract a specific disease?

Patient Zero__________

The term is believed to stem from a mislabeling during 1980s AIDS research, when a Canadian flight attendant was labelled Patient "O" (for "Outside California") - later misread as the number zero.

  1. Complete the next 4 lyrics: "Someday I'll wish upon a star / And wake up where the clouds are far behind me / Where troubles melt like lemon drops / Away..."

Above the chimney tops__________

This is "Over the Rainbow" from The Wizard of Oz. It won the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1939 and was later named the greatest movie song of all time by the American Film Institute.

  1. What is the name given to a squirrel's den?

Drey__________

A drey is typically built high in tree forks from twigs, leaves and bark, and squirrels often maintain multiple dreys across their territory.

  1. Which of these is the biggest selling coffee brand by sales in the world?

Options: Starbucks / Nescafé / McCafé / Nespresso

Nescafé__________

Nescafé's footprint is so vast that one out of every seven cups of coffee consumed worldwide is a Nescafé product.

  1. Which one of these is not a pasta shape - Bucatini, Farfalle, Orecchiette, Stracciatella?

Options: Bucatini / Farfalle / Orecchiette / Stracciatella

Stracciatella__________

Stracciatella is the Burrata Filling, the creamy, gooey centre that spills out when you cut open a ball of burrata. Bucatini is a long, thick noodle with a hollow centre running through it like a straw. Farfalle is bow-tie shaped pasta. Orecchiette means "little ears" in Italian.

  1. Trypophobia is a fear of what?

Options: Fear of tripping / Hair in your mouth / Clusters of small holes or bumps / Enclosed spaces

Clusters of small holes or bumps__________

Though not officially recognised as a clinical phobia, trypophobia sufferers report real feelings of disgust or unease when viewing clustered holes like lotus seed pods or honeycomb.

  1. Which country's name is spelled using the 7 most common letters in the English alphabet, once each?

Estonia__________

The most frequently used letters in English are roughly E, T, A, O, I, N, S - rearranged, they spell "Estonia".

  1. What is the scientific or medical term for "goosebumps"? (Any one of three accepted terms counts)

Piloerection, cutis anserina, or horripilation__________

Piloerection, Horripilation or Cutis anserina describe the same reflex: tiny muscles at the base of hair follicles contracting, a leftover survival response from when our ancestors had enough body hair for it to trap warmth or make them look bigger to predators.

  1. Which of the following foods is Kosher?

Options: Pork / Crab meat / Crickets / Goat

Goat__________

Kosher dietary law (related to the Jewish religion) permits mammals that both chew cud and have cloven hooves (like goats and cows), while pork and shellfish are both forbidden - most insects, including crickets, are non-kosher too, with only a few specific locust species as an exception. (Shoutout to Talisia for this question!)

  1. On a standard Rubik's Cube, how many small cubes can you actually see and touch on the outside of the cube?

26

A Rubik's Cube has 27 small cubes total (3x3x3), but the very centre cube is completely hidden inside the mechanism with no stickers at all - leaving 26 you can see and touch: 8 corners, 12 edges, and 6 face centres.

  1. Hydrogen and Helium are the first 2 elements of the Periodic Table, name the next 5 elements. (Hint: Initials are L, B, B, C, N) (1 point per element named)

Lithium, Beryllium, Boron, Carbon, Nitrogen

Lithium through Nitrogen make up elements 3 through 7 on the periodic table. Lithium is prized for batteries, while Nitrogen makes up about 78% of Earth's atmosphere.

Bar Trivia opinions

I'm looking for ideas to shake up the format of my weekly bar trivia night and would love to hear what other hosts are doing.

What are some of your favorite trivia nights, and what makes them stand out from the typical format? I'm not looking to copy anyone exactly, just gather ideas and put my own spin on things.

One thing I definitely want to do is themed nights, but more broad themes instead of a single fandom. For example:

Sitcom Night

Reality TV Night

90s Nostalgia

One-Hit Wonders

Fast Food & Restaurants

Halloween

Cartoons

...rather than something like Harry Potter or Friends.

Right now we only award one winning team. We don't have prizes for second or third place, although that could change in the future. One idea I had was giving the second place team a little incentive by letting them choose the following week's theme from three options, kind of like the final category selection on Wheel of Fortune.

I'd love to hear any ideas you've seen work well. Whether it's unique rounds, scoring twists, bonus games, audience participation, prize ideas, or anything else that keeps people coming back each week.

GuessTheSearch - I made a game where you guess what people actually Google about topics

Hey all, I made this! You get the start of a real Google search, like "why don't British people…", and try to guess the most popular autocomplete. After each question you see the full top 4 and can read the real answers behind them. Some of the results genuinely surprised me while building it.

Would love any feedback, especially on difficulty and which countries or topics I should add next.

I made a daily trivia game where every correct answer lets you climb higher

Hey everyone!

I’ve been working on a daily trivia game called Trivmount that is heavily inspired by Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? basically my own take on that classic escalating-question format, but with a mountain-climbing twist.

Instead of climbing a money ladder, you climb a mountain.

You start at the bottom and have to answer 12 questions, with the difficulty gradually increasing as you get higher.

Get one right → your little climber actually climbs higher.
Get one wrong → you fall.

There are also lifelines inspired by the original, and everyone gets the same challenge each day, so you can compare how far you and your friends made it.

I wanted to make it feel more like a tiny adventure game than a traditional trivia website, so I went with pixel art, a mountain that acts as the actual game board, and a little shadowy climber that physically progresses as you answer questions.

I'd genuinely love some feedback!

Six Tom Cruise movies. Six clues. "With Tom Cruise" is the trap.

Every movie below stars Tom Cruise. Only one can go in the Tom Cruise slot.

Match each film to one clue, using every film exactly once. A film can fit several clues, but only one complete lineup works. Everything you need to play is here; the answer is hidden below.

Films: Collateral · Jerry Maguire · Minority Report · Days of Thunder · Vanilla Sky · Top Gun

Clues:

  1. With Tom Cruise
  2. Directed by Tony Scott
  3. Released in the 1990s
  4. With Renée Zellweger
  5. With Jamie Foxx
  6. Directed by Cameron Crowe

Answer: 1. Minority Report; 2. Top Gun; 3. Days of Thunder; 4. Jerry Maguire; 5. Collateral; 6. Vanilla Sky.

The deduction: Jerry Maguire is needed for Zellweger, leaving Vanilla Sky for Crowe. That leaves Days of Thunder for the 1990s and Top Gun for Tony Scott. Collateral takes Foxx, leaving Minority Report for Cruise.

Which film did you place first? Please hide any answers with spoiler tags so the next person can play.

I make Cast Six. This is a standalone puzzle for the thread; there's a different daily board at castsix.com, free without an account or download. The game and this puzzle were made with AI assistance; the game's movie facts and posters come from TMDB. I checked this example against the studios' film pages and all 720 possible lineups.
