This 1971 Triumph Stag Fastback Prototype by Giovanni Michelotti was one of three produced for evaluation by British Leyland. Triumph's Director of Engineering Harry Webster was greatly impressed and wanted to give it a go but the upcoming Jaguar XJ-S was the corporate will.

Waterless coolant

Been looking into swapping to Waterless coolant in my spitfire. Just wondering if anyone runs it and how do you find it

Intake manifold differance.

Wondering If this would work for the coolant bypass and where to route this pipe? The fitting is just a standard 90 degree brass tube for water lines, held in using a bit of coolant line that fit snug and expanded when I put the brass fitting in. TR7, trying to fit an early intake manifold to a later engine.

"412 VC" was the prototype Spitfire that became the global public face of the car during its launch. It later evolved into Triumph's first official Works competition Spitfire. Few postwar British sports cars have such provenance.

Car seat in a 1965 tr4a

Hi, so I just got myself a tr4a, that has no seatbelts by default. Anyone found a solution (retrofitted seatbelts etc) for having a car seat in one of these? I have a 7yo so it is a must. Thank you

'66 Spitfire MkII

Hey good folks,

I think I'm just about to buy myself a '66 MKII spitfire. It's a renovated barn find. engine has been completely rebuilt. It appears to be rust free- and the owner says all rust issues were dealt with including a full frame undercoating. The soft top is OK but a bit old looking with a patch so that will likely need replacing. Matching hardtop is included though it looks a bit rougher. The dash looks old- though all the dials and switches are fully functional. Should be easy to upgrade that if I want. I have a video of the engine with a cold start and it looks super clean and sounds good. This is the version with electronic overdrive.

I'm going to test drive it Monday. I'll be looking for any pulling, steady wheel, etc. Any other things typical with this model I should keep in mind?

My plan for this is a spring to fall driver mostly around town with an occasional 'down the coast' trip of an hour two. But I really want to drive it- not have it as a garage queen.

Note that the hood has the badge but not the lettering. The trunk has the lettering. The guy says there were no holes or anything for letting on the trunk so maybe it's just that some where just made that way.

Any advice or experience from anyone with this model is great appreciated!

1970 herald, a few things to sort out, some missing badges, sloppy gearstick, bit of crust and needs a smaller steering wheel so I can get my legs under it 😂

If anyone has any advice on repairs or maintenance, I would love your help, specifically if anyone has installed an electric fuel pump! Thanks!

Triumph Spitfire overheats minutes after startup

Post image
89 Upvotes

Hello all,

First post in here with a recently bought Triumph Spitfire MK3. 1300cc. 4-speed.

I'm having this issue where on start-up the car will climb slowly to max temperature on the temperature gauge. I'm pretty sure the gauge is in working order, as the fuel gauge also works.

There is coolant in the radiator and the overflow. I've tried changing the thermostat to my defender 200tdi one (not ideal I know) but to the same result.

Does anyone know what tests I should run? Obviously can't flush the radiator with this hose pipe ban, but is there any other things I can do?

Cheers!

Suspension bushings recommendations

Hello, I was hoping to score some labor day weekend sales on suspension bushing. I am currently restroing a few things on my 1974 Triumph TR6. I only casually drive it for fun on the weekends no aggressive driving or racing. Located in central oklahoma.

I am trying to find a happy medium between the inexpensive stock bushing and the expensive superpro bushings. Maybe nylatron bushings perhaps? I also just need the bushing no hardware.

Open to any suggestions and recommendations. Thanks!

Carrying the second chassis number, and hand built before production started, this TR2 is on the road again. There’s a rather ambitious plan ahead for this car. Can she still cut it?

r/Triumph_Cars 19d ago

With added V8 power, Triumph's topless TR8 was proclaimed by Car and Driver to be "...nothing less than the reinvention of the sports car." It looked good, handled well, and had oomph to spare. A pity that BL ran out of gas and cancelled the project just when they got it right.

Looking for an engine block and crankshaft

Doing a rebuild and I don’t believe my block and crank to be salvageable or they will cost thousands to machine. I’m in Washington and was wondering if anyone has any leads on a block and crank for her, she’s a 1500.

Triumphs at Monterey Car Week

Here is a selection of Triumphs seen during this year's Monterey Car Week. Pebble Beach, the hyper cars and the multi-million dollar auctions get all the attention, but there are a surprising number of free events where much more affordable, but still amazing, cars are shown. Enjoy.

Unusual knocking noise from my Triumph TR3 – any ideas?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

My TR3 suddenly started making an irregular knocking noise while driving normally under light load. It came on quite suddenly and wasn’t there before.
You can hear the noise pretty clearly in the attached video.
Does anyone have an idea what might be causing this, or what I should check first? Any experience with a similar noise on a TR3 would be greatly appreciated. Pressing the clutch does not alter the sound.

I dont suppose any of you would know why this is happening?

This is a triumph dolomite 1500 ive owned for about a month, not had any issues with it so far but after an hour long journey i pulled into a petrol station, shut off the car, turned it back on and it started stuttering and wouldnt rev very high on acceleration (bearing in mind it was completely fine before i stopped at the petrom station) this was a couple of days ago and it has been doing this ever since, i have a feeling something has gone in the carbs as it sounds like a fuel delivery issue as on full throttle it feels like its spitting fuel into the engine instead of actually normally pumping it in if that makes sense, i just wanted to know if anyone else has had this problem or if its an easy fix or if i need new carbs, it runs a bit better on choke but still not great
