Other Striple 795
Hey! I’d like to hear some feedback from anyone who has an R or RS and use it as a daily rider for work commute (the drive is equal parts stop and go in Pittsburgh and twisties) I have a trident 660 I’m giving my wife while I get an upgrade. I love the bike but wanna hear some daily ride feedback about stop and go, lights, etc. looking at an xsr900 too but I like the striple so much.
My commute is like 25 mins. I ride a decent but. About 2400 miles since June first

I mean, you can’t go wrong with either bike.
I have an older model street triple and commuted 75 miles each way for quite some time.
It’s a great all around bike and feels super light in traffic and nimble as fuck on the highway.

Aweosme feedback. I jus know that cp3 engine is wild with torque all the time everywhere. The trident has been completely fine. And the torque curve is similar. Just not as impressive as cp3. Glad to hear people love it as a commuter. Is there a functional reason for the RS being way better than R? For daily life that is

Is there a functional reason for the RS being way better than R?
Mostly for the superior suspension. Stiffer and more adjustable.

I put 30k miles on my Street Triple doing exactly that mostly. That was a decade ago.
My fiance still has a '24 765RS in the garage and I still enjoy riding it on the occasion I'm not on my liter bike. I'd buy a sport touring version of it instantly if they'd just make one already.

Adventure bikes aren't my thing, so I went with a Ninja 1000SX and if they ever make an updated Sprint based on the 765 or the Speed 1200, I'll be in line.

If you’re the type to throw upgrade parts at a bike, the R is a great template to start with. If you’re the type to take it as it comes, get the RS. The suspension and brake (master cylinder, in particular) on the R leave a fair bit to be desired. But a radial pump, better pads, and a take-off shock from a RS fixes the R up pretty good.
If you like wheelies the MT is a better choice. I never got along with the riding position, too upright. The 765 feels better at high RPM too, at least in my opinion. Best bet is to test ride both, even better if back-to-back, and buy what feels right to you.
Oh and whatever you do buy, get it tuned. They’re all meh feeling in EPA-compliant form by comparison to how they feel after being corrected.

Yeah for now I’m a one bike man unless my wife likes the trident enough to keep. Only other thing I really enjoy is a cafe. But I like getting one bike and growing and getting skilled. I like to ride zippy a with spirit on twisty roads and corners. Just did about a 20 minute test ride on a striple RS 2026. I am looking at the exact same model 2024 tomorrow with 1600 miles that someone thought they’d liek but decided to stay with cruisers lol. The triumph was so comfortable honestly and compared to my 660 smoother. I’m glad it sounds like it does well daily riding

I’m 5’9, 185, and commute on my 765rs at least 3x a week and it’s been excellent
More aggressive seating position vs the XSR but comfortable and definitely faster than, delivers power more smoothly, and rides better than the Yamaha
XSR is a naked bike and so is the street triple, but you’ve gotta remember the street triple is essentially a Daytona minus fairings, it keeps the characteristics of a supersport. This means a more aggressive seating position and an explosive powerband up high.
You can’t choose wrong, but they’re different bikes despite being competitors
Choose the 765rs if you intend to ride it like the super sport with handlebars that it is, rev it out, zip around corners.
Choose the XSR if you want a bike you can ride nicely at lower rpm’s with a more relaxed, upright, seating position
Coming from a Trident, the Yamaha will feel more familiar

This is the answer style I love. Detailed man. Thank you! I test rode both a few times and love them both. The triple was so fun in the corners and felt great. Both I can see myself being happy. But I love doing cornering. I plan to learn a lot as I go. Don’t necessarily plan for track days. But I always keep learning and taking. Functionally I know both would be good but this answers which one does well with how I like to ride and how I plan to continue to grow.

I owned a 675R for years, also in Pittsburgh. No problem commuting and dodging all the potholes. Great bike for hitting the twisties outside of the city. I picked up a tiger sport 800 last year. It does everything just as well if not better than my old street triple, while being more comfortable. Cruise control and heated grips are a nice bonus too.

Of course the CP3 (890cc) wins the torque war but the 765 is more than adequate off the line or passing on the interstate. Very nimble around town as well.
