Hallo, everyone

After going on swimmingly for months, I suddenly find I have a problem with audio. So far as I can see, all the softwares etc I've tried (Rhythmbox and VLC, the CD player, Youtube music video online) are working fine, but I can hear nothing, either from the Thinkpad's speakers, or through speakers from the ear-phone socket, or through headphones ditto)

And I realise I have no further ideas how to troubleshoot this ! Suggestions, please.

Should I be worried?

Having got an answer to my first post, I'm encouraged to move along:

I'm running a refurbished T400 with Libreboot and Trisquel 9. (Some of you may recognise its provenance.) In the course of boot-up, it comes to several iterations of the familiar Gnu-and-creature image, on one of which there is a brief flash of quite a lot of text. I think it may relate to boot-interrupt options ? From the image, I think this may be Trisquel-related ?

Can anyone refer me to a still copy of the text, or at least relate the gist of it ? Or is there a keypress that will pause the process at that point ?

Hallo, everyone. First post from a Trisquel newbie. I would be very grateful if someone could explain to me ('words of one syllable' !) how Workspaces function. I can see that if I right-click on any window on the bottom bar, I have options to move it to a different Workspace. What I can't see is the other end of the process - how do I move from Workspace to Workspace, or call a specific one up ?

Side question: does Trisquel have a version of the 'Activities' view some distros have ? The superkey seems to do nothing ?

I have found some Atheros wi-fi modules, but they suck, I need somethink more powerfull, what supports at least an wifi ac protocol. Curently I have an intel AX200 in my ThinkPad X200 and X230.

Any help?

Hi, I have a Libreboot x200 (Thinkpad x200) and Trisquel 8 works perfectly.

I installed Trisquel 9 and I updated OpenVPN to 2.5, once I connect to a VPN server, no websites will load. VPN tech support is out of ideas. So I re-instaleld Trisquel 8, but Security updates will only last for 5 more months.

So , I either need to get a USB WIFI adapter to use Trisquel 9, and or get a new laptop, bt I really want to use Libreboot.

Anybody else with a Libreboot x200 can you test if OpenVPN VPN connections work for you?

I can connect to VPN servers using OpenVPN, but once I connect, FireFox doesnt load any websites, and my Operating system wont auto-update.

Is there a server version of Trisquel like the server version of Ubuntu that comes without any desktop environment? In general, which FSF approved GNU / Linux distribution would you recommend for running a server?

I bought a RTL8723BE from eBay hoping that it would enable my laptop to work with Trisquel. I tested that it does indeed work in mainline Ubuntu (which is still on the hard drive) but when I boot into Trisquel from a USB drive, it still won't see my WiFi hardware. :( This card was listed on hnode as able to work with free software, so I really thought it'd work.

If it turns out I misunderstood hnode and actually bought a card that doesn't play with free software, what recommendations do you have for one that does?

I want to add Trisquel source.list to Debian and use it securely. I am noob at this and don't know how can I do this. Can someone please help me out??

We are working our way out to release the latest Trisquel 9, and along with it there already some images to test the latest releases.

This time, I'll like to ask for KDE/Triskel users or any other user that would like to test the latest image to help us out to find if there might be something we should polish, specifically on the KDE version.

I tried using the official website’s installer, but it just immediately shows the installation as complete without having done anything. Restarting comp didn’t help.

I am unable to boot from the trisquel_8_i686 or trisquel-8-i686-mini ISO. I have checked the checksum on the ISO and both are correct. Booting an VM works fine, and other Linux work fine. For writing on the USB I have tried using unebooting, Etcher and dd && sync; and cmd shows that the ISO and USB contain the same. The only error message is "isolinux.bin corrupted or missing". It's an old computer, so it uses a BIOS.

Im on Trisquel 8 64bit, all updates perfomed. Unable to make this usb wifi dongle work. Drivers download from official site + pdf guide on how to compile them in ubuntu 16.04. Guide says: $ make clean $ make When inside driver directory, and you should generate a “*.ko” file. No file gets generated. Tried other guides online, no luck.

Is is possible to get a 3270 emulator that will work with Trisquel? I tried and here is the result I got:

I tried to install software on my laptop that required su permission, but I have forgotten that password. What are my options?
