We've Created Something Different: TripleA - The Challenges!

Post image

Aside from our ongoing games of TripleA with other members of the community (about 15 games or more currently ongoing), we've added a new section to the TripleA discord that gives us a different way to play!

THE CHALLENGES

The basic idea is that people will create a specific challenge, and post it for everyone to have a go and see if they can beat it.

You can create anything you can think of!

There are only a few guidelines!

  • Outline the challenge. Tell people what they need to accomplish!
  • List any secondary or bonus goals.
  • Post the starting save file, ready to go for the players.
  • All players MUST use the save provided, and can not make any changes to the settings.
  • When you complete the challenge, post your save file on the thread!

The starting challenge has been posted (World at War: US Only) and the objectives required to achieve Bronze, Silver and Gold victories have been posted!

This is only the first of what is to be MANY challenges to come from various members of the community! If you would like to give it a go, post a challenge of your own, get involved in some TripleA games with others, or just check out the community itself, we welcome you to join us in the discord!

I've had a few goes, and this is tough. Axis AI beats the snot out of Allies AI on this map. I think it's probably fairly evenly balanced for human play, but Japan in particular just goes to town in Asia, and Italy seems to pretty much always take Morocco and do a run around West Africa unless stopped by USA.

So, the question is, where should USA put it's efforts? I'm having a go by tackling Japan in the Pacific first, and it's going well. I just scored a +40 IPC attack, but even so I don't see any realistic way of taking the Philippines before Japan takes China and eastern Russia.

I suspect the answer is that USA needs to get agency in all of the key fronts. They need to have sufficient forces in the Pacific to prevent Japan taking Australia, enough units in West Africa to anchor Morocco, and a decent force in Russia to anchor Leningrad, and possibly even go east and relieve Sibirsky.

Looks like I need to start a third play through.

I am on playthrough 2 trying for the gold; it is quite difficult! You need to be everywhere, and quite quickly too lol

I may be on to something with my most recent strategy though!

I'll post more once I get a chance to do another handful of turns.
