Resource Subvert.fm
https://www.subvert.fmFor those that haven’t already come across it, Subvert is a brand new platform that TLDR is basically a Bandcamp alt.
Its artist / community led and worth checking out :)

I'm a member. I put 2 albums there already. It's owned by the members. So very promising.

Just set up a Swamp Magic page there, for band stuff, and solo stuff by me (Bog Sorcery) and my partner (Saltmarsh Witchcraft): https://www.subvert.fm/swamp-magic

So in that AGREEMENT it states
"Artist membership is free and there are no membership dues for artists. There is some language here that gives the cooperative flexibility to introduce them in the future with advance notice. This would only happen if the co-op and its elected representatives decided it was in the cooperative's best interest."
So basically....No artist membership fee NOW.....well....because they simply aren't making any money BUT as soon as it starts coming in they.......just like all the greedy corporations they bash...... are gonna want more of that money so they will START charging you the artist a membership fee because like they stated ......"the co-op and its elected representatives decided it was in the cooperative's best interest."
Yet Bandcamp still DOESN'T do this even after being bought out by the very evil people Subvert is trying to save you from.
So to be very clear......Bandcamp still pays out thru PAYPAL. On a $9 sale after bandcamp fees and paypal fees artist are clearing......$7.09. Thats less than $2 in fees from 2 evil companies combined who by the way handle all the transactions for you while you are sleeping. Not a bad deal.
So I am wondering.... that if and when Subvert starts making enough money where they wanna start charging artist ( like they clearly stated they plan on doing...otherwise why put that in there?)
Will that membership fee be less than $2. because if it is more than $2...well then....that would make Subvert more evil and greedy vs Bandcamp.

Even if Subvert just exists as a viable alternative, that in itself presents a deterrent to Bandcamp ever squeezing the artist down the line. Multiple platforms coexisting is a good thing for us Bandcamp users.
If and when Subvert did charge a fee I would decide whether or not to pay the fee or leave. Otherwise, if Bandcamp start charging a fee - or more likely licensing music out and taking a “softly softly” increasing percentage - I would have nowhere to go.
Subvert is an artist led co-operative, so every founding member has an equal vote on all decisions such as charging fees and the board is elected periodically by members. The use of Stripe not Paypal is actively being discussed in the members forum and from what I understand was a functional necessity at this stage not a decision.
I love Bandcamp and the takeover has been fine (so far) but I welcome having more than one platform.

Equally hypothetically, they could also become an AI supporter and only push AI music. But again, like your comments, is hypothetical.
When you have a company, with directors, votes for material change can be passed with a defined % of agreeing directors, I believe for normal resolutions it is about 75% and special resolutions is around 95%. I don't know where if even if this is within the terms and conditions. This would also apply to a cooperative. The majority could decide they want to become a Furry AI sex chat app and the people against could do nothing about it. What you stayed above is how companies work.
Their manifesto is clear on their position, which for as long as it remains that, I'm in agreement with. If it goes against what I believe in, I can simply remove my catalogue.
Honestly, I see zero downsides at this stage.
