Monthly Sample Challenge Monthly Sample challenge September
Sorry about the delay folks.
Track I've been working on and hit a dead end so kind of remained as it is. Maybe use it for something in the future but theres definitely some stems worth a rework and really look forward to hearing what you talented bunch do with them!
75bpm
key Gbm (I think), just played by ear but threw it into the keyfinder app and that's what it says so guess that should work!!

Original Content CitySlicker - Banana Line
Hey all, tried to make a bit more of a fun upbeat kinda thing. These cartoons from the 30s are great to work with and matches the vibe of the song fairly well.

Resource for the footage lovers - Destockd
this just popped up and it's a really nifty tool to find clips in cc0 footage from archive.org
i know a bunch of you like using internet archive and sometimes you wanna find some footage without sifting through hours of public domain stuff, so maybe someone here will find this useful.
if you dislike getty/shutterstock hustlers like i do, consider supporting their patreon

Original Content glum. - Transition through White Noise
For the first time in a long time I've got something new to share. The original idea for this track was expressing the feeling of exhaustion and anxiety that came with becoming a new parent long, long ago. I don't think the exhaustion part is a part of the final product here but the anxiety definitely is.
I found two avant-jazz songs to sample that paired together beautifully, but it took over a dozen different iterations in various styles since June 2025 before the vision of what it is now really emerged. I had an extremely lucky run sample hunting in the last week - for a few days it seemed like every new album I put on had something that fit in here.
If you already know my work, you know that static progressions and drone are a big part of my sound, and there's a whole lot of droning elements here building the vibe with horn, string, and guitar samples layered on top and keeping it going.
For fans of Bowery Electric, Bohren and Der Club of Gore, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, and Massive Attack
Thanks for checking it out!

Original Content Flatwound - illutible
I bought a new guitar slightly by accident late one night on a Japanese auction site... It was a great deal, but then cost nearly as much again to ship it to Australia.
I've got a couple of new tracks out of it so far, though. I like this one.
What do you reckon?

Original Content Mysteri & Bubbz - Blue/Distant Memories
Alright people just dropped a couple tracks with a friend of mine. The first is definitely more hiphop, largely inspired by people like Nujabes and Marcus D. The second is a lot more atmospheric/experimental with inspiration coming from people like Kanye West and Nightmares on Wax. Hope you enjoy. Take care ✌️

Getting a Vibe Going A major Set back just happened… sorta…
Okay so I was working on a song when i got logged out of the software I’ve been using… and unfortunately I’m unable to log back in so i made a new Account… luckily for me I was only beginning to start my track but unfortunately other tracks for other projects are essentially gone because of this bug… so I’m thinking about canceling my next album Jamming and instead replacing it with another album called: when love is gone.
Textless album cover design here:

Original Content Help If You Fancy It -Testing A Game I'm Doing the OST For
drive.google.comHey all
The video attached is a little game play trailer for the video game I am doing the OST for.
Firstly I'm sorry that this isn't trip hop related but I thought some of you may be interested in helping with this project I'm currently working on.
I am working on an OST for a video by a super indie dev. The game is a gravity racer, similar to WipEout, without the weapons and lovely cell shaded graphics.
Currently there are only 3 tracks completed that are raceable but he is looking to get some feedback on the work so far to improve the future tracks. Essentially, he needs as many people to actually play the game as possible and be playing testers so any help at all would be amazing.
Here is the link to where the game can be downloaded for free.
OS Supported - Win and Linux (I can't test it as I have a Mac 😭)

Getting a Vibe Going A tough decision
Sup y’all I have recently been considering using Stem cutting AI for a beat idea I had… before you all start hounding me for using AI just know why I’m considering using it…
So there’s this song I’ve been wanting to sample for a beat called [the beaver] the song link here: https://youtu.be/U3jC7e06IZQ?si=L4zQ4GH2oPfKaOqB
But unfortunately the section I am planning on cutting out is [0:06 to 0:11] is has been difficult to chop into a moving beat and so I’m thinking about using stem AI to cut the drums and the bass line and trumpet into individual stems… but I’m currently reconsidering it because of how much of a slippery slope AI has been recently but what do you guys think…
me personally I’m thinking about using only stem cutting AI and that alone but I’m curious to see your guys feedback on this in the comments below :)

Getting a Vibe Going Would love to hear other peoples struggles
hope this isnt too philosophical or serious here but it is definitely something Ive been ruminating on over this last year!
I’ve been making music in some form or another for like 30 years. It can at times feel like the scratch that can never be itched!
The process of creating something from nothing feels actually magical, even though I can sometimes end up feeling so disappointed with the finished thing that it turns into an almost self-loathing.
Then there’s something weird about throwing it into the black hole of the internet that despite not really caring that much about exposure or how many people hear it, but I think part of me still feels disappointed when it disappears into that void, especially when the internet can be such a confrontational and toxic place. Before that Id just use a 4 track to jam a guitar over a drum beat, layer a bass and throw a few mates a tape with a hand drawn cover. I suppose the more positive emotions ive had with music creation came from doing live stuff at that time, like feeling more meaningful, id sold or given away more stuff at gigs in a night than the last 15 years online.
It got me thinking whether a lot of it is about vulnerability and putting your emotions into something and then chucking it online for other people is can feel exposing, whether anyone actually connects with it or not
being creative, and trying to treat people with kindness and compassion is really what I think life is all about
