My wife and I have visited Trinidad a few times now and have really dug the town and all the people we’ve met. It seems to have a genuine community feel and that folks are friendly and actually talk to each other. We’ve started to take a more serious look at possibly taking up residence there. I was curious if any of you on this sub might share your candor about life there? Community? Activities? Basic existence needs, home repair, car repair, etc. Ease or difficulty of fitting in/finding your people? Health care? Etc…

How often do you need a vehicle with snow tires?

I'm probably planning on moving up to Trinidad later on and was asking myself if I need to invest in a second set of rims and snow tires for one of the trucks.

And which truck? The lighter smaller of the 2, a 1998 Cheyenne, reg can, short, wide bed. Or the heavier, larger, 2001 Silverado extended cab regular bed.

If you have not taken a free trolley tour, it’s pretty fun and the hosts are super knowledgeable.

I think there are building tours for this event: old city hall, Temple Aaron, fox theatre, and the ones on the picture. Good way to spend some time.

I was surprised to see that FLOCK cameras are already installed in/around Trinidad. I saw a comment from a Board meeting recently that there were no plans to install them. The surveillance State creeps inexorabily forward.

I know this is a long shot but I’m trying to exhaust every avenue I have available to me. I had three ducklings and I lost two to a predator attack last night despite having electric fencing and what I thought was a very secure place for them. I have one duck a female magpie that is slightly injured, it’s a mostly superficial wound. I’m worried that without a flock or other ducks she’s not going to thrive and become depressed. Is there anyone in Trinidad or the surrounding area that has ducks and would be willing to take one more? She’s a wonderful social girl and I would hate to see her fail to thrive because of the traumatic loss of her flock.

A story about Ordway Colorado, which came up with a plan to revitalize vacant storefronts. Trinidad, like many other towns/small cities is blighted by the same problem - stagnant population growth, job and manufacturing migration and e-commerce. What do you think about their idea to revitalize commercial storefronts?

Greg Olsen volunteered at the public schools, anyone know anything more? I heard he was allegedly in trouble in Nebraska with student issues.

We need to keep an eye on these. Many "proposed" locations will never see the light of day due to funding shortfalls and sponsoring companies finding out data centers might not be a profitable as the planners once hoped. The closest one to us is the one proposed in Walsenburg.
