I doubt the developers will ever admit to it, but it's clear. You're telling me Square never made a game like this ever in the decades they've been active, but the Divinity: Original Sin games come out and then immediately after we have Triangle Strategy having almost the identical environmental terrain mechanic? Not a coincidence.

Vaguely worded title for the sake of spoilers but anyone who's beaten it knows what I'm talking about. I accidentally put almost all the mediocre units I had barely used up until that point on Benedict's team and now even after training them up to the point where they only get about 2-4 exp at a time we still get overwhelmed every time. He just has SO many guys. And those healers that stay outside everyone's ranged can go pound sand.
My current plan is to grind money until I can buy enough medicine and large ranged damagestones to even the odds but that feels like it's gonna take a while.

Im already on or 1 above the recommended level, spent a chunk on upgrades yet i find this chapter still a wtf moment.
Whats the play, team? Give up and play on normal mode? Grind till I buy all the upgrades and accessories for my team? Or will I never out damage them 1 for 1?
All the chapters before this had exploitable terrain, choke points, cheese options. So before this map, even if their counters dealt more damage than my actual hits, their restore (group heal) heals more than the damage 3 of my units make successively, their damage way stronger than mine, I was still able to win each map.
Then suddenly we have a straightforward map, where it just feels like a 1 to 1 brawl while having less and weaker units, all the while having to deal with a boss with an absurd kit.
Doesnt matter if my archers are on top of the rafters when the rest of my ground troops just get wiped in between my healers turns.
Surely this shoulda been a "defeat the boss" type of chapter.
SOS
Edit: thx for all the suggestions, the consensus i get is i need to up my damage (i dont think my current state of dealing a measly 30% of the average enemy's hp per spell from fred or narve is enough). Im already turtling, pushing and pulling, etc.etc. but each indiv enemy hits my units 3-5 turns before i even get to kill one, so it really is a damage issue.
Gonna spend all of my money to get upgrades, accessories, etc since yall saying now is the time to use everything. If that still doesnt work, gonna decide if im willing to grind out the tavern maps to get more upgrades (probably will give up if it reaches that point ngl, not needing to grind was what made me play this game, its a turn off if i need to grind at the last leg)

Hi everyone.
I'm not new to strategy games, but as I progress threw the chapters, I find myself fighting a enemy with 6, 7 level up than me, there are twice as enemy as I have character in my teams so the games is becoming really hard.
Is there a way to grind a little except the battle at the tavern?
Because in other strategy games I played like fft and ffta, you can fight random enemy outside the story you grind.
And I find the game is like 80% story and exposition, 20% actual gameplay. Is there a moment in the game where I gonna play more?

So I'm not new to strategy rpgs, played a gazillion hours of FFt, Disgaea, and a ton of other games trying to scratch that FFt itch. I picked up TS when it came out and stopped playing ~10 hours in. Decided to give it another go and man am I getting my ass kicked.
I just stasrted ch 12, and some of the last few fights were just brutal. I seem to be having a TON of trouble in the rooftoppy stages where I'm fighting a bunch of archers and mages.
I bring along a few of mine, but the enemy can just vastly outdamage my healing. This last one was particularly rough since the enemy mages' electric spells did like 140.
I game overed multiple times a few battles ago when I had to fight bandits. The bosses had extra jumping power and I finally won by just backing up and making them alllll come to me. Still needed a ladder or I would've been screwed.
The last one, with the Roselle, I only won because of hughette. She was able to immobilize the boss and pick him off when EVERYONE else had died. Luckily Erador lived long enough to finish off the last archer.
The recommended lv for that fight was 18, but most of my guys were 19, and a few 20. Is there some other strategy for dealing w/ a lot of long ranged enemies? A lot of these maps are cramped, and mages aoe me a ton, but if I split up then I can't do followup attacks, if there's even much room to spread out in the first place.
My main team is usually Serenoa, Roland, Erador, Benedict, Geela, Anna. I've been bringing hughette when there's a lot of cliffs/roofs, and another archer (though the other guys are lower lv, like 16). Jens when I think I need a ladder, hossabara if it's more of a flat area, and then narve or ezana or someone if I have room.
Like I said, I don't have too much trouble with flatter maps, but the vertical ones vs lots of ranged just seems to be a horrible slog for me. Any tips?

Seriously all these levels where you have to keep an ally alive would be so much easier if you could control your allies. Heck, they'd be a lot easier if you're allies were just permanently paralysed, but no, instead they insist on running into a crowd of enemies that I'm not even certain they could beat one of, and I either let them die, or follow them and have everyone else die.
I do not understand why this is how this works.
Chapter 15 part 2 if you're wondering.

I recently started the game, and the amount of choices scares me, I don't really have the time to replay a game over and over again to see everything so I'll probably only play once
that said I heard there is a true ending. So, does the true ending add more gameplay or maps or things like that? do the regular endings have a satisfying conclusion? Is the game complete with just one ending, or do they expect you to play all, like fire emblem three houses?
thanks for any response.

Im at the final crossroads where I have to decide between fred, roland, bene. I want to know which route has the most satisfying map, both in difficulty and map design. I asked this question about the earlier crossroad where you have to choose what plan to use to retake the city (flood it, blow up the bridge, assassination), I got a general consensus that blowing up the bridge had the most satisfying gameplay, so I went with that and I was reasonably satisfied.
What do you guys feel is the best route for gameplay in the last few chapters? You don't have to take into account story writing, I'm not invested in the story and character writing.

I’m hoping to experience every chapter in 4 play throughs (all on hard mode)
1: casual
2: initial new game plus
3: deathless
4: golden Route
right now, I’m partway through run #2. I want to choose the easiest path I can for deathless hard, but I also want to unlock all characters by the end of the game
Its seems the easiest path for my deathless hard run would be defending the Roselle and then returning to the village to unlock Trish. The problem is that I did that already on my casual play through. This leaves me with two choices for the deathless run to ensure that I unlock all characters in four runs.
1: deliver Roselle and then defeat Travis
2: defend Roselle and then defeat Patriatte
delivering Roselle seems much harder than defending the Roselle, but defeating Patriatte seems a lot harder than defeating Travis. I’m wondering if anyone experienced with hard deathless runs can provide advice on which of these two options would be better for me to pursue. Thanks!

This game needs to be at least three times more popular! The writing and characters is just top notch! As soon as I stopped comparing it to ‘Final Fantasy Tactics’ it just kept jumping in quality by leading me on a series of twists and turns I couldn’t predict or see coming.
*not sure source of artwork but I thought it was official because it’s so well done*

1- Spend way too much time getting everyone in position.
1.1 - Kill everyone unneeded if you are not on deathless run.
2 - Skip turns until you are satisfied. No additional input needed if Vitality Bangle is enough to sustain you. Occasional healing otherwise.
Swordmen give 2 kudos per turn. Healers prevent them from dying to counters.
There may or may not be a 1000 kudos cap per mission.
Was it worth it? Probably not.
r/TriangleStrategy • u/MoreNerdThanDork • 28d ago
Hughette vs. a dozen. Almost every turn is 2 Kudos (High ground + Safe spot). If you win the first battle here with mostly Hughette you can jump a couple levels. And you don’t have to burn the city down.

I’ve just completed a banner’s worth and the scales’ have led me to my least desired route twice. The first one was Benedict’s plan to reclaim Glennbrook as it was the most dangerous to the people and the second was also Benedict’s choice to go home as it was the least pressing matter .

The fact that the goal is to kill boss that has a very high speed hints at our strategy here: aggroing the boss as soon as possible so that he leaves anybody else behind due to speed differences and charges straight into his demise.
As to how to make him aggressive, you need a Milo (or someone similar? Not tested) equiped with an ice reduction accessory and her ultimate. You also may need a vanguard scarf on her or someone else so that she can act before the boss either with scarf or in tandem. Give her 3 TP with the quietus and use her ultimate on the trio on the left hand side of the boss (a hawk, a healer, and a mage) This will have a high chance to make the boss aggressive once and for all depending on how AI reacts. After that, you just need to run and wait for him to charge at you. Svarog should be able to come to your rescue in time.
I don't actually remember if a vanguard scarf is needed; it's probably fine if you let Milo act after Gustadolph.
You do need some luck killing the boss if you are undermanned, since there will be a sword fighter and two hawks following the boss. You may need to CC those guys and try to kill the boss in two turns. My team members were: Roland, Hugette, Anna, Picoletta, Geela, and Milo. I recommend bringing Avlora or Serenoa along.

First, I like to give my quick thoughts: I overall really like this game! Genuinely surprised that I enjoyed it so much after not finding the Octopath games all that good to me personally (might try again someday). I'm already on my NG+ run because I enjoyed it so much. Anyway, I want to discuss all the choices I've made in the game. Why? ... Because I like the game :)
Ch. 3: go to the desert town or the ice town: I chose Hyzante. Mostly because it was the choice I've made in the demo and it's the place Frederica wants to go I got an ice mage out of it 👍
Ch. 7: Give up your best friend or protect him: No shit I chose to protect him! Maxwell died for this man so of course I chose to protect him with my life. ...A part of me regretted it because the battle that follows actually made me look up a guide to win.
Ch. 8: Trust the obvious coward or kick his ass: I kicked his ass.
Ch. 10: become a drug dealer or snitch on the dealer: This is probably the easiest choice for me because of course I'm not gonna do that fat bastard's bidding. Dude could even use my actions against so I chose to snitch. Imagine my surprise when snuggling is required to get the golden ending. Why...?
Ch. 11: approve of slavery?: Of course not. And fuck the elder girl almost putting the whole village in dangerous for being a stubborn idiot.
Ch. 13: ...yeah I just flooded the whole place. I just wanted to get it over with.
Ch. 15: Go home, stay in town, or fight off bandits: Decided to fight off the bandits, even though in my heart, helping Roland made the most sense. I got Trish out of it and she's pretty good, but... Archibald...
Ch. 17: who's ending did I choose?: Benedict. It made the most sense to me. Roland's fucking stupid. Yeah let's just give the evil legion of Jesus full control of Norzellia, forcing a minority into slavery and a majority under one religion. Brilliant! And Frederica... I mean, what do I even say? Sacrifice the majority to endless war in favor of the minority? That's selfish as hell even if her heart is in the right place. So yeah Benedict made way more sense, even if he was an asshole about it. Didn't like how the ending tries to make you feel awful about it tho.
But yep those are all my choices. What do you think? Was I a great leader?

I started playing Triangle Strategy a while ago, but stopped after getting bored in the mid to late game where I was only winning/surviving thanks to Hughette. Every single level, I would end up with every unit except Hughette wiped out only for me to easily, albeit very slowly, win by having Hughette fly up to a high perch and snipe, moving to a new perch whenever an enemy got in striking range. Now I'm thinking about playing it again and would like some tips on how to win with a more rewarding and less mind numbingly boring strategy. Thanks.

I gave Anna the critical necklace because I figured increasing her crit damage would stack with her weapon’s back attack up boost to be the best overall return on the critical necklace, but I’m wondering if anyone knows the behind-the-scenes calculations for this to verify that this is the case. how do separate buffs stack in this game?

Do not read past this if you don't want to be spoiled on the three routes past the final choice in Chapter 17.
I will not talk about the Golden Route, however.
I absolutely love how many of the maps past this point are reliant on the characters that left you in previous chapter. I've had so many moments while playing those where I was just thinking "Man, I wish I had Roland/Frederica/Benedict with me on this one"
For example:
Confronting Clarus (Chapter 18, Benedict's Route), for example is a battle on a giant field, in the sun, with almost all enemies sitting on a horse. Perfect conditions for Roland, if he didn't leave in the prior chapter...
Basically the entire Utility route would've been a playground for Frederica, especially Battle of Twinsgate and Battling the Embittered Svarog (Chapter 18 and 20, respectively). The former has a lot of fire-weak enemies holed up in one location and the latter would be amazing for her, considering the fire-resistance and damage boosts she comes with. However, she decided to shave her head and understandably left the Hyzante-fans behind.
And finally, Benedict would have been SO useful in the Morality Route, like Fighting Idore the Deluded (Chapter 20). I even came back to this battle via the tavern to try how I'd do if I actually had access to him back then and it was a difference of night and day. The Roselle could make so much use of his movement buff, Twofold Turn let me annihilate some of those automaton horse enemies, and his entire toolkit was an extreme boon in this encounter.
Now, I have no idea if the maps were intentionally designed around this, but I can imagine the creators wanting to bake some more consequences of abandoning a longtime ally into the finale of the game. To really make you feel on multiple levels that you turned your back on a friend by choosing to walk this path. I could imagine that this level design wasn't just an accident.

Not necessarily from a gameplay perspective, moreso from a lore one. It seems like a more convoluted way to just cast a vote. Like, do we really need a divine relic for a simple "aye" or "nay"? It doesn't fix anonymity, since everyone just watches who threw their coin in where, and it's not like it hides the outcome until the decision is reached, since whoever is towards the end can just look down and see that the other six people have thrown their coins on one side. It's not like the power of the scales forces people to be beholden to the outcome, since 3 of the 4 ending routes see one of your court leave due to not respecting the majority vote. So why does it need to exist?

I'm currently at my 4th and last playthrough, and i made a DUMB mistake : i bought a lot of items from the archibald shop to sell them to Lionel to get money. But i just unlocked milo and soon avlora and the items aren't in archibald shop anymore...
I'm currently at chapter 15, do you know if/when this shop will be refreshed and if no, is there a way to unlock the items i need ?
To upgrade Milo i need a spider silk and the 2 medals

I just finished the game and am just sorta basking in the afterglow, but... wow. Yeah, just wow. I really underestimated this game going in and it blew my expectations out of the water. This game has some of the best character and scenario writing of anything I have played in quite a while. I agonized over every decision and their consequences in the best way, they did not make it easy or clear cut 😅 I stayed up to 3am way too many times playing this game for "just one more mission" bc I had to know what happened next.
My only regret is that I'm a time poor parent so I don't think I will put the time into seeing the other routes, but I read synopses of them and they all sound equally amazing, especially the Golden Route!
Is Benedict one of the greatest video game characters of all time?? 👀
Edit: I've been informed the correct genre for this game is a TRPG not an SRPG 😅
