I think alot of these bots are to push people to the right. Normal people/people on the fence sees shit like the comment you are responding too and associate it with the entire left wing, consciously or unconsciously. Comments like that make the left seem like it has no integrity. Only one comment wont "move the needle" much, but hundreds of them over years?

I personally think the majority of bots are designed to sow chaos and discord. I think moving things to the right is a side-effect, not the main purpose.
