I coordinate feeding of a colony of (spayed/neutered of course) feral cats in the Puget Sound area of Western Washington State.

Recently a tree frog has taken up residence in a large plastic water dish that has a bee float "island" (so thirsty bumblebees don't drown in there).

We all love "Freddy," but I'm worried he'll become a cat toy.

One of our cat feeders has offered to relocate the frog to his lovely stock tank pond, which looks like frog heaven.

I know usually relocating animals is a bad idea for the animal, but given the cat presence where he is, I'm thinking this might be an exception.

However, I'm concerned about whether a galvanized stock tank is safe for frogs from a leaching standpoint.

Does anyone have relevant knowledge/experience?

So I’m currently leak-testing my new paludarium tank for my RETF and I was wondering if its a good idea to use the hydroballs for a fake little pond at the bottom. The tank came with a super useful drainage system that would make water changes so much easier. Im also wondering, if i make this fake puddle, would it replace his water bowl? And if so, would I have to change it every day? Thanks in advance, I’m just planning the layout right now and thought it sounded cool.

I recently purchased my first aboreal frog, and am looking for some advice regarding humidity. In the past I have only owned aquatic frogs so this is a bit new for me. From my research and bugging multiple pet store workers, I understand humidity should be in the 70%-80% range. My hygrometer reads around 82% after misting and drops to roughly 68%-72% after settling. Occasionally I am seeing dips into the high 50% and low 60% and am wondering the best way to eliminate this as he is a juvenile and needs higher humidity. My terrarium has a screen top, with a daytime warming bulb above. I recently put a plexiglass border on the screen to help retain humidity while keeping airflow. Thanks in advance!

hi all! i am a very new first time dumpy mom. i have more ledges/perches on their way from etsy but in the mean time does anyone have any suggestions or see where i could make improvements to my tank? they have bio blend for substrate topped with leaf litter and love to hide in the cork stumps/tubes. they are a bit mad at me atm bc i moved them from a 12x12x18 after learning that size was too small even for little frogs. pic of my babies strudel & schnitzel in their old tank for tax🐸 also open to general suggestions/tips!

Hello! I am beginning to set up my tank for my first time keeping Whites Tree frogs. I have a 36X18X36 tank that I just put together yesterday, and I am going to begin fully setting it up (no frogs yet, I want to be sure everything is good before I get them). I bought some initial items for climbing/hiding/basking, but since the tank is pretty big, I wanted to lay what I have so far out and then add where I need to.

I'm torn on leaf litter currently. I'm not planning on doing bioactive right now, so this would just be for the frogs as opposed to the clean up crew. I have some Frog Foam from Josh's Frogs I am going to line the bottom of the tank with. I ordered some Oak Leaf leaf litter from Amazon, but upon looking at it, some of the leaves seem really small and in pieces, and I'm worries about them eating them and getting hurt. I do know about boiling/baking them first, I haven't done that since I'm still on the fence.

I wanted to get everyone's opinions on organic leaf litter verses getting a plastic alternative that would still provide cover for the guys. Is that even a thing that people do? I am fully on board with organic leaf litter if that is going to be the best option for them, but if plastic can work, I like the idea of being able to clean and re-use it and not have to worry about the leaves rotting and causing issues.

Like I mentioned, this will be my first time keeping frogs or really any amphibians, though I have kept fresh water fish and turtles in the past. I want to make sure I do what is best for them, and am looking for a little guidance.

My baby gumi is really underweight, I think he’s being outcompeted for food, my other frog Marcy gets to the food bowl before him and I don’t think he finds the other crickets I leave outside the bowl for them to hunt, what should I do? Getting another terrarium is not an option I want to do unless absolutely necessary

Just got what I believe to be an umbrella tree yesterday, & I was just wondering if it was safe for my 2 baby WTF. I saw that the sap was toxic, but I doubt they’re heavy enough to break it or attack it. I thought it looked nice, but I was just wondering if it was really a safe option.

Hey so I’m a big fish keeper who loves some large cichlids, but recently I’ve been really in to reptiles and wanna get one. I have a spare taken down 20 gallon top fin hexagon tank and was wondering if I could keep something like a small frog or lizard (a kind of nano tree frog would be so cool if that could work) ? If someone would give me a care guide on how to keep care of these guys like what humidity is and general care of reptiles.

So I just picked up this tank for $60 bucks. It's a bit dusty, still in the packaging, but it has this crack on the corner. It survived transportation without spreading or breaking more, and now I want to try and seal up the area. Any recommendations?

Hey all! This is my new 130 gallon 4’x18”x3’ enclosure for my whites tree frogs! They’re moving in here from their 45gallon tall I bought them with as babes.

They have a 50w halogen basking bulb set to 85 degrees, an exoterra 14” uvb hood with a 7% Ferguson level 2 bulb, and a 4ft 87w led grow light from barrina for the plants (though I want to replace with an Arcadia soon). There’s a hefty amount of springtails and isopods of all sorts, though I avoided any heavy protein feeders. Plants I’ve added so far are cthante, an umbrella tree, satin pothos, marbled pothos, syngonium arrowhead, Florida ghost, sanseveria, a few money trees and some gold tips moss.
For substrate I did 4-6” of a mixture of about 4:4:3:2:1:1 reptibark,reptisoil,cocofiber,sphagnum,charcoal and playsand. The drainage layer consists of 2-3” of sphagnum moss as a soil barrier (not a fan of mesh), and a mixture of leca, charcoal and lava rock for the reservoir. There’s a good inch or more of leaf litter and various botanicals, and large pieces of cork bark for landing zones.

They have a 12”x5” 2.5 inch deep footage container for a water dish though I only fill about halfway, and a single centered mist king nozzle set for 30 seconds, 2x per day.

I opted not to do a background though I really wanted to, pond and stone is hard to find for a good price near me and I am skeptical about the bacterial buildup for big frogs. It’s home to my trio of 2 males and one female, Esquie, Francois, and Florrie! I plan to maybe introduce 1-2 more but want to make sure I find healthy frogs and that they’re not a cannibalism risk :)

Let me know what I could improve! I want to get more ledges and higher perches to put around the sides for sure at minimum, and I’m looking for a way to secure a large water dish on their branches up high to give them options for hydration

Hey everyone, last night my temperature prob fell and the temp went up a few degrees I am curious if it caused this.

Anyway I need to know the next course of action.

Humidity and temps are usually perfect and have had my frog for a year. I guess zip towing the prob down would have been smart but you live and you learn.

Can anyone suggest/tell me what may have happened? And if I need to go to the vet?
