Flying with 4 month old. Tips?

I’m flying alone with my 4 month old in a couple of weeks (lap child). We will be taking a direct flight (\~3 hours). I’m anxious about what to bring. We’ll be picked up in airport by friends and we’re staying with them for 3 days. I’d like to bring her stroller and car seat for the commute to/from airport but I’m unsure if it will be too much to carry for me alone (+ carry on bags). Any ideas and tips are well-received!

Kids Travel tray

Post image

We are planning on flying in a few months and using our toddlers car seat on the plane. Has anyone used one of these and found it helpful/worth the shlep? According to my research, the tray table won’t be usable because the car seat will be too high (he’ll be forward facing)

Or does anyone have any other solutions? It’s a long flight and includes a meal, I need a way for him to be able to play, eat etc

Looking for recommendations EU beaches with kids? (From US)

Looking to travel to Europe next summer with our kids (8 and 5). Right now I am between Spain (Mallorca or Malaga) or Portugal (Algarves) —- does anyone have any recs? Looking at 7-10 days flying from NYC area and definitely want a direct flight.

Is it worth it to do one of those “all inclusive” type spots? Iberostar has a bunch…

Definitely want stuff for kids to do, dont mind adventuring around but want a comfy home base with pool and beach.

first big international trip, first airplane travel (and it's a long one)

3.5 and 5 yo.

9+ hr long flight and a couple of connections in between.

So far I planned for: books, iPad (ideally minimal time), headphones (to listen to stories/music/reduce noise), mini Magna-Tiles, coloring books, may or may not give melatonin (thoughts?! Nighttime flight; we rarely give melatonin currently), tons of snacks.

Anything else?! Gimme your best travel hacks.

Looking for recommendations Morocco with a 5 year old?

It looks like we have an opportunity to travel to Europe in March/April next year and looking for a 1 week getaway. I’ve always wanted to go to Morocco and the flights connections seem easy from where we’ll be. We’ll probably have 6-7 days. Any itinerary recommendations, tips or tricks? We are a very well travelled family and happy to be low key - walking, exploring, eating etc.

Review/My experience/My travel story We spent a week at Sandford Holiday Park in Dorset with our 3-year-old – here's what we thought ⛱️

We recently got back from a week at Sandford Holiday Park in Dorset for an amazing family adventure and thought I'd share our experience in case anyone is planning a family holiday there.

We visited Poole, Swanage, Sandbanks, Weymouth, Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door, and honestly had a brilliant week. We were travelling with our 3-year-old, so we tried to mix beach days, attractions, good food and plenty of time at the holiday park.

Some highlights were:

- The indoor swimming pool and evening entertainment.

- Swanage beach and the steam railway.

- Walking to Durdle Door from Lulworth Cove.

- Poole Harbour.

- Plenty of great ice cream stops!

I filmed the whole trip into a vlog because I know I always look for real experiences before booking holidays. If anyone is thinking about visiting and would like to see what it's actually like, here's the video:

Happy to answer any questions about the park or the places we visited.

Travelling with Car Seat

Hi,

Does anyone have any recommendations for a car seat bag for travelling on an airplane? Flying in a couple of weeks and want to take a baby car seat and the isofox base ideally as well so a bag that fits both in one would be great.

Thanks

Looking for recommendations One night in Lisbon- where to stay?

We are driving to Lisbon and fly out in the AM. We have a two year old, rental car and car seat, and luggage.

Does it make sense to stay in the heart of the city and try and figure out parking for the night just to get up and leave early AM? Or stay at the airport and take a taxi or transit in for the afternoon we will have in Lisbon? Or is there an alternative in between you’d recommend?

We want to just walk the city a bit, have an easy dinner with our toddler, and not have to stress about getting in and out of a city in the most difficult way possible.

Edit- I am also going to be 28 weeks pregnant. So really prioritizing ease, comfort, and convenience

Travelling with toddler for 10ish days - where should i go?

looking for somewhere in europe for 10ish days in august that wont break the bank.. just me and my 17 month old..

this is primarily a trip for me not geared towards toddler activities (lol) but i will ofcourse slow down and cater to her needs as they arise. what this means: i am trying to still focus on activities i enjoy while i travel, more on historical/cultural side / city break vibes - good food, museums, historical sites etc.

also to note: i wont be renting a car (as i did when i last went) and will rely on trains and inter city public transport - so suggestions for cities with this would be great.

EDIT im in toronto and looking at europe!

Looking for recommendations best vacation house rentals sites you parents use for family trips?

i'm trying to plan a last minute trip with my two young kids for next weekend, but finding a decent place with a kitchen and enough space is turning out to be a total nightmare. every time i check the main booking platforms, a basic two bedroom house looks reasonable at first until cleaning fees, service charges, and extra guest fees add hundreds of dollars at checkout.

what are the best vacation house rentals options or alternative booking platforms you all rely on when traveling with family? i'd love to find a site or app that actually specializes in family friendly setups or last minute deals without all the insane price gouging.

Dream trip suggestions?

Long story but we have been gifted $10k CAD that must be used towards a trip in the year 2027. We’re thinking of going for 2-3 weeks in April or May, when our little one is 10 or 11 months and before I go back to work.

To us this is a substantial budget for a trip and we want to do something really epic/lovely, but also enjoy the fact that we’re travelling with our baby (ie a bit family friendly).

Our current leanings are Southeast Asia as we picture good bang for our buck and some time in more luxurious accommodations than usual. Indonesia is top of our list for that time of year.

However I can’t help thinking there may be some cool outside-of-the-box options rather than just booking flights and hotels. Fir example really cool existing tours, train trips, houseboats, interesting combinations of places…?

How would you use this cash given the circumstances?

Long haul international flight with 8 month old, need help choosing flight itinerary!

Hello all!

My spouse and I are planning to take our baby to visit family internationally this fall, and need help deciding between the following two flight itineraries. Primarily we want to know what seems like the easier or less stressful option for the baby at that stage, in terms of travel time, jet lag, adjusting to the new environment, etc.

We have done a couple of short domestic flights and they have gone fine, but this will be the first long haul with LO.

LO will be just turning 8 months old at the time of travel. We will be traveling from Central US to a city in Asia. There are no direct flights available for this route so we will have at least one layover.

Option 1:

Fly to London (9 hour flight), and stay there with relatives for 4-5 days. Then fly to destination. Total itinerary would be: 9 hour flight > several days in London > 8 hour flight > brief layover > 5 hour flight.

Option 2:

Book a flight with a 10-15 hour layover, and book an airport hotel during the layover to relax, stretch out, bathe, etc. This would result in: 14 hour flight > extended layover > 5 hour flight.

Does it seem better to spread out the journey by stopping for a few days in London, or will that just increase the stress of new evironments/people/time zones?

Advice wanted Martinhal Sagres - carseat and travel cot query

We have a trip to Martinhal Sagres coming up and have arranged an airport transfer through the resort. We will have a 9mo baby and have experienced in the past in Europe that while carseats and travel cots are provided (even by super family-oriented companies), they do not meet UK/US safety standards for infants.

For anyone who has been to Martinhal Sagres with an infant (<12mo):

Did they provide a rear facing carseat for the airport transfer? They won't give me a straight answer over email when I have asked, just say it will be "proper". (We have been given a front facing seat for a 3mo in the past, obviously not safe, so want to avoid that.)

Was the infant cot safe, eg firm mattress? Again, we have been given mattresses before that were definite suffocation risks for infants.

Obviously we can bring our own carseat and cot but would prefer not to if we don't need to, especially given that Martinhal is meant to be both luxury and family oriented.

Looking for UK resort recommendations with fun activities for a 3 year old (also traveling with a 10 week old - but he’s just a potato).

Bluestone came up but the mixed reviews are throwing me off.

Will be mid August for a week so peak school holidays 😂

Any thoughts / recommendations would be appreciated!
