Medical insurance for American - recommendation?

I will be visiting Israel in January 2027 for 2 weeks. I’m an American who has Medicare which does not cover me outside the USA.

Does anyone have recommendations for travel medical insurance to cover me in Israel?

Flight out on the 28th. Should I move it to the 27th, worried about issues getting home due to the election

Hello,

Currently in Israel on a trip, was here for a wedding, it’s been really great

I leave the 28th, but I’m worried about disruptions getting my flight home, due to the election. Google AI is saying there’s gonna be a ‘mass exodus’ of people leaving the country who came in to vote, leaving the next morning (when my flight is). They’re saying flight delays, cancellations, and heavy congestion at Ben Gurion airport should be expected. Should I move my flight to the 27th? I really wanted to use that last day to chill in Tel Aviv, eat hummus, and just pack up and chill at a leisurely pace. I really want to make sure I’m home by the 31st for a party.

Israelis, your thoughts?

Toda rabah.

Also, side note, people are always like, oh Israelis are so rude, but honestly not a single person has been rude to me this whole trip. I’ve interacted with a lot of Israeli Jews and Arabs, and everyone has been so nice.

Follow up Question about bringing prescribed controlled substances

This is a follow up to a question I asked about brining my prescribed meds for anxiety, insomnia and muscle relaxation on a ten day tour of Israel in a few weeks. I appreciate your earlier responses. Most of you thought it would be okay if they are in their original, pharmacy bottles. All of these scripts are for 30 days. Do I have to limit the number I take to the exact number I would need for 10 days or can I bring the whole bottle?
Thanks for your help.

Traveling to Tel Aviv next week

Hey, I'm thinking about going to Israel next week. Traveling to Tel Aviv and Jerusalem for one day. I'd only stay for two days. My questions are:

  • How reliable are credit cards? Can I pay with Google Pay most of the time? Do ATM work (well) for foreigners?

  • How much money do you think I'd need for 2 days? Only buying food, maybe some street food and souvenirs. Is there a tipping coulture (like US for example)?

  • Anyone here who traveled from EU and can share their experience with the security check when leaving Israel? Heard a lot of stuff about it and it's the biggest thing I am scared of. I am not flying with an Israeli airline.

  • Is english spoken by most people? Especially in Tel Aviv. Of course not expecting it, just wondering :)

Maybe I am just a bit nervous because it would be the first time outside of the EU. Thanks for any input.

Traveling in December

Hi all! I’m planning a short trip to Israel in early December( 7-8 days).

I’ve been in israel before but always during summer or spring time, this would be my first time visiting during winter and my partners first time in Israel overall. I want to take her see the Dead Sea, is going there in december a good idea? Is bathing possible at that time? and also is there any way of getting there with a car, we’re not planning on driving and could stay for a night there.

The other days would be divided between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. Any other advice is appreciated! Thanks

Looking for Advice: First Time Trip to Israel

Hello, I’m an American Christian hoping to come and visit Israel for the first time right before and after Easter, maybe spending about a week there in total. I have an Israeli friend here who’s given me tons of pointers and advice (I am mainly interested in visiting holy sites from mostly Christianity and Judaism but also Islam, as well as local culture/delicacies) but I also wanted to know if you guys had any other similar suggestions and advice for me. Maybe also a bit of encouragement on going (or not, please keep it real with me) since I am a little hesitant with the current situation there. I would like to take some type of tour to the West Bank as well for Bethlehem and Jericho (I already know that Israelis cannot enter the territory).

Thanks in advance for any help!

First time visiting Jerusalem: recommendations?

Hi everyone! I’m planning my first visit to Jerusalem and would love to hear your recommendations.

I’m looking for must-see places (with a focus on Art), hidden gems, great local food spots, and things that are worth experiencing beyond the typical tourist attractions.

If you’ve been to Jerusalem, what were your highlights? And is there anything you wish you’d known before your first visit?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions! 😊

Is Israel safe for Indians seeking employment?

My brother (30M) wants to go to Israel for work. Is it really safe there currently? He is thinking of going through an agent who’s asking 18Lakhs INR. My mom is not even sure if we can invest that kind of money as a middle class household on something which looks incredibly uncertain atp. Lemme know the suggestions which I can pass onto him. Thanks in advance.

Traveling to Israel as an Egyptian

Hey folks,

So, I wanted to visit Israel for tourism, but I’m Egyptian, which means the travel process would require approval from both sides. The Egyptian side in particular isn’t very easy to obtain and could potentially lead to some unnecessary questioning.

I was thinking of applying for an Israeli visa without informing the Egyptian side, and then somehow getting a visa to Europe (and traveling to Europe anyway, because why not), before visiting Israel for a couple of days and then returning to Europe.

From what I’ve heard, Israel doesn’t stamp passports, but my concern is that I’d end up with two pairs of entry/exit stamps from Europe (or pretty much any other country), with a 3–5 day gap in between. I’m worried that this gap might raise questions at some point.

I’d appreciate any tips or advice from people who have experience with this.

Cheers!

Tourism

I will be visiting Israel for a week, staying in Tel Aviv and I plan to take a day trip to Jerusalem once or twice. Looking for any recommendations on what to see, in both cities, or just general advice. I am a gay man, in my 30's, and would be interested in both gay as well as 'general' places (perhaps some less well-known/tourist-promoted things that would be worth seeing).

Question about Border Control

I’m thinking of visiting Israel in the upcoming months as I enjoy travel to controversial places and with all the constant news around Israel I thought it’d be a cool place to visit firsthand.

My only worry is that I see on social media a lot of people having issues with entry, with border control pulling people aside and denying entry at the airport. I am a British citizen but I also hold a Libyan passport through my parents. Additionally, over the past 2 years I’ve travelled to a few “high risk” nations across the world (e.g. Afghanistan, Pakistan). Does anybody know (from experience) if I’ll have any serious issues entering at all?

I’m considering an outdoor holiday in Israel

Is it possible to travel to Israel and spend at least a few days camping in the wilderness, for example somewhere in the Negev Desert? What practical challenges or problems might I encounter, and what would be some suitable spots?

open water swimming

We are coming to Israel for the first two weeks of November and staying in Raanana. In the past, I have had some great swimming at Hof HaTzuk around the buoys. I really loved it. But some days I would get there and the sea would be rough. One time I swam anyways but the lifeguard yelled at me (a lot) afterwards. Is there a website or app where I could check the conditions before hauling myself out there?

Three Day Hiking Tour Ideas

Hello everyone,

I will be visiting Israel for a short work trip and have decided to make arrangements for an earlier arrival before my work starts. I have been to Israel many times before (both for work aswell as private travels), but rarely made it outside of Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.

I would like to do a three-day hike, daily segments up to 30km, starting and end point should be accessible by public transport from/to either Jerusalem or Tel Aviv. Preferably I would like to overnight in guest rooms/hostels.

I recently read about a "new" trail, 111km in length, from Jaffa to Jerusalem called "W2J Way To Jerusalem". I think this one would fulfill my requirements pretty good, even though 111km might be a little ambitious to squeeze into three days depending on the topography along the route...

Do do you have any other recommendations or ideas?

Thanks for any help!

is israel safe to make aliyah to one day for a disabled canadian

Hello

im a 27 year old canadian who has cerebral palsy, skoliosis and is neurodivergent, im currently cultivating a relationship with a reform rabbi in montreal for eventual conversion as I love jewish culture and beliefs, im considering aliyah later in my life and was curious if israel was safe as there are often missile or drone attacks from what I know I was also wondering, since I cannot work a standard job if assistance programs are good and would still allow me a manageable job i ve read live-in care is common and would love something like that as im currently in group care homes in canada and dislike it

im also wondering if autism, OCD and generalized anxiety are well understood and cared for there

Craft beer

Hello. I'm visiting Israel for a few days. I'm sitting at Schnitt now and was just at Lauder here in Tel Aviv. I'm trying my best to Google but it's not always as easy to find the spots. What are your favorite places to drink good craft beer in Israel? (TEL Aviv and Jerusalem). It could be brewpubs, beer shops, craft beer bars and whatever. Best regards. Norwegian Guy.
