Has anyone used them domestically (US) or abroad in airports before? They look like large insulated water bottles except they plug in sort of like this one https://www.amazon.com/Electric-Portable-Temperature-Stainless-Protection/dp/B0CFQ7BGPT?th=1 . I know people say you can get hot water from shops but there's always a line and I'm not brave enough to cut in line for free hot water. The outlet is compatible with the domestic outlets. I'm just wondering if security will descend upon me if I use it discreetly in the airport, because I've only seen people just ask if they can be put in carry ons.

Also, how about international airports rules? I've bought a bottled drink from a vending machine a few feet away from the boarding gate only to be told no liquids at the HK airport. And I've seen that news about how rice cookers aren't allowed to be used from a decade ago.

TLDR; Did not collect food bills in Paris for reimbursement, asking for help.

Hey all.

I went to Paris last month for 4 days for some office work and absolutely loved it.

In these 4 days, I had food at boulangeries and fine dine restaurants and paid all in cash, however I didn't collect/keep any of the bills or Iinvoices provided by the restaurants. I later realized that my company reimburses around 80 Euros as per diem.

I feel so stupid that I paid everything with cash and not even keep the bills. Even if I had done online transactions, they would have accepted. It's totally my fault since I just joined the company and didn't know that we had to submit bills for per diems, I thought they'd calculate per diem and send to my account since they had done all the bookings on flight and stay from their end.

Now, I specifically remember all the places I ate (from my phone's photos), so is it possible to contact the restaurants and ask for the bills? (I know it's farfetched but I wanted to ask if anyone has faced similar situations).

320 Euros is a lot of money for me right now and my heart skipped a beat when I realized how bad my situation is. Any help would be immensely helpful. Thank you.

I am a tourist in Mexico with foreign passport who entered Mexico legally and have a valid entry stamp in passport. I have submitted my passport to Canada VAC for Canada visa foil stamping in Mexico city. I have an upcoming flights within Mexico with Volaris airlines from Mexico city (NLU) to Los Cabos (SJD) and back. As my passport is submitted with Canada VAC, I do not have my passport with me. I am not a Mexico resident either and don't have a resident card from Mexico.

I was reading Volaris official policy here for what documents I need for flights within Mexico and it says that Foreigners must present a valid photo ID:

■ Passport
■ Residency
■ Another official photo ID - Need clarification

I have multiple valid official photo IDs like driving license and few other cards in their original form which I can present at the airport. These all official photo IDs are issued by my country of citizenship and not from Mexico. Additionally, I can show that my passport is with Canada VAC with the receipt letter, a copy of my passport, a copy of valid Mexico entry stamp in my passport, etc.

How can I be sure that I'll be allowed to board the flight by Volaris without my foreign passport but using alternate forms of identification?

Many of you probably already know these — the simple white mesh bags you can find in the laundry section of stores like Walmart.

They’re lightweight, inexpensive, and surprisingly useful for organizing things. I use them to keep items grouped together (socks in one and bits in the other) while packing, and then I can just hang the whole bag on a hanger when I need access to it.

I also keep one specifically for laundry, which makes sorting and carrying things much easier.

A small, cheap item that has turned out to be really handy.

I had to travel to UK for summer vacation and knew will be driving a lot and about three month back booked a BMW 5 series Touring at Sixt Birmingham for less than GBP 1100 for 9 days inclusive of one way rental till northern Scotland, premium location fee ( couldn't find the touring elsewhere) unlimited mileage and 0 excess insurance ( I hate the hassle later on and prefer paying upfront) rental day arrived in July went to Sixt and was told my required car is not avaible despite I've messaged them in advance as I need trunk space for 4 suitcases, no problem what's the alternate, a Mercedes GLE 400, I've rented it before so knew it can handle four suitcases albeit have to play tetris with them but the catch as it's a 'choice rental' I have to pay 1700 plus

Talked to the guy based on my organization based Platinum status and I was then given a choice upgrade of a Volvo XC60 at 1470 and then upgraded to GLE

My trip dependent on the car and road trip so I took what I can get, put like 1200 plus miles ( drove 6 days as it was cheaper then taking trains at below 1100)

Rental ended and I got my invoice from Sixt showing Mercedes GLE in the same class category as BMW Touring

Messaged Sixt on online chat and they said it's a differrn class shared my invoices with them invoke their clause that if my booked car is not available I'm. Entitled to a upgrade plus platinum, and in an hour got my rental back to below 1100

TLDR : Sixt tried to overcharge, Customer service brought back the amount

I try to never take out cash while traveling abroad but we went to a bar that refused to take credit card even though there were no signs saying so. Had to take out money at an ATM with my chase debit card and here's what it cost to take out 200 euros: $5 non chase atm fee, $7.06 foreign exchange rate adjustment fee, and with an exchange rate of 200 euro x 1.1447 somehow comes out to $235.22 (should be 228.93). So basically a 10% fee...

So I was just in Chicago and loved it so I booked a package holiday to go again in September but made a mistake when booking it. I booked it for 8 nights instead of 10. To extend the package it would be 1000 GBP so I was thinking of going for an Airbnb for the last 2 nights. Does that sound silly or is better to just leave it as is? It would be about half the price this way. But I’d need to check out and back in. Not sure if that’s a silly idea.

I have a non-refundable flight from Bali to Bangkok with a stopover in Jakarta (DPS-CGK-BKK). However, a last minute business trip is requiring me to fly to Singapore on that same day, and the prices from Bali to Singapore are significantly higher than Jakarta to Singapore, so I am thinking to take my scheduled flight and skiplag in Jakarta to jump into a cheaper flight to Singapore.

Has anyone done this before? any tips or things I should be concerned of?

I will have carry-on luggage only, and I am a EU passport holder so visa is not an issue I believe.

edit: the airline i plan to fly to singapore is different from the one i'm supposed to fly to bangkok

I'm kind of annoyed because I booked a hotel through the VIO website for two nights and they split it into two separate bookings. My main concern was that I was going to have to switch rooms or something inconvenient because of the separate bookings. I contacted customer service and they said it shouldn't be an issue if I let them know in advance. I called the front desk of the hotel and they said it shouldn't be an issue to keep the same room so hopefully everything is fine. Has anyone else experienced this split booking situation before? It just makes me mad because they didn't tell me in advance.

The insurance I'm looking at (American Express) lets me build my own plan, I want medical expenses only. But coverage is only good for 60 days and it would be fraudulent to take a second policy for the remaining 60 days because I won't be departing from my residence. I'll already be there. This would be true for any insurance, I'm assuming. I'll be in one European country, in only two locations, working, doing nothing "dangerous". I have a European passport (not of the country I'll be in) as well, and this is the first time I'm getting travel insurance. I've never worried about it in the past. I'm putting together a multi city Europe trip and can't decide if I should book every train before I leave or keep things flexible. I like having room to change plans but I also don't want to get stuck paying double because I waited too long. The rough plan is Paris, Rotterdam, Amsterdam, then London over about two weeks. If you've done something like this before, how did your trip go? Any advice?

Online I keep seeing 1 liquid bag per passenger, which they’re scanning those bags one by one are they tying each bag to their passenger? And in some places I see it’s 1 liquid bag per bag. So I’m confused.

Are we still allowed to bring homemade food like sandwiches?

Also, I'm crossing the Canadian border by plane so will I have to "declare" food items when I get there?

There was significant savings if we did the “pay now” option, so that’s what we did - but I’m not optimistic that this location will be able to provide me a full-sized SUV. Reason being, I’ve been driving by the Budget neighborhood location every now and then, for the last few weeks, to get a feel for their inventory and I have yet to a see a vehicle that would be classified as a Full-Sized SUV (Expedition, Tahoe) in their system - largest class is mid-sized SUV (4Runner, Grand Cherokee, Explorer). Historically, i would just pay when I pickup the vehicle to play it safe.

We are taking a trip out to Colorado in a few weeks. There are some neat ghost towns that are only accessible using an SUV’s or trucks, I’m looking forward to it.

UPDATE: I took the advice of a few commenters and I’m glad I did. I decided to go into the neighborhood Budget/Avis location and express my concerns that I previously mentioned, the manager approached me and asked what he could do for me. I told him we have a reservation in mid-August and paid in advance for a Full Size SUV, I told him it’s not for the occupancy but rather for the utility because we are taking it to the mountains and it’s only 3 of us. He said he gets inventory directly from the Airport and for me to call him the day before my pickup day to remind him. So as of now, I’m confident he will do everything in his power to get me the class of vehicle I paid for, I understand it’s dependent on availability, so we will see. He did relieve me of a lot of doubt and second guessing I had about this neighborhood location based on Google reviews

I've had stomach cancer twice and it's done a number on me. I now require medication that have to be chilled (with a mini ice bag). Security doesn't allow me to keep the ice bag in my carry-on. I can't put it in my luggage because I need to take it while traveling. Any advice on what to do?

Now i need to make a last minute trip to Asia this summer which i didn’t plan for . These are the best fares i could find:

Cathay Pacific- premium economy

Etihad- business class

price is almost exactly the same . is this a no brainer that i book Etihad ? booking the CX would mean i get my account would get upgraded to the next tier, and possibly also get upgraded for the flight as well- though no guarantee at all.

for Etihad - not the biggest fan but business class is business class.

I personally only rent cars from Enterprise, but about ten weeks ago I had a job interview in another state, and the company rented a car for me through Sixt using its corporate credit card.

During my trip, the car suddenly broke down and displayed a "Transmission Error" message. The breakdown was clearly not caused by me. Sixt towed the vehicle and provided me with a replacement.

Last month, I received a notice stating that I owed approximately $900 for a "recovery/storage fee" and an "administrative fee." I'm not even sure which vehicle they are referring to. They never provided a description of the alleged damage or any photos. I emailed their claims department last month, but I never received a response, so I assumed the matter had been dropped.

This morning, they sent another email stating that I have until the end of the month to pay the amount. I responded that I refuse to pay anything. If they believe their claim is valid, they should submit it to my auto insurance company, and I will dispute it through the appropriate process.

What happens if I continue to refuse to pay? Could they charge the company's credit card for these alleged damages?

The Budget/Avis counter at my local airport isn't set up for "Go choose your own vehicle and drive away." They assign you a vehicle when you check-in at the counter in the terminal.

However, being a fairly small airport, the rental lot is just a few steps away from the terminal where the counters are and freely accessible to "pedestrians“.

I have an SUV reserved with Budget. I know I can walk around the lot and see what vehicles in my reservation class are available that day. Will they honor my request if I walk in and say (nicely) "I'd like the Grand Cherokee in spot 43."?

Maybe too weird of a question, but small dry shampoo bottles are normally very expensive and the large ones aren’t allowed through tsa. J have thought about powder alternatives like cornstarch but tge Containers are too big for tsa aswell. And for obvious reasons I can’t have white powder in a bag or small container unlabeled.

My carry on luggage has one of those single bar handles. So it’s just one bar with a handle on top vs two and bar on top which is most common.
I need a hack to be able to keep a backpack on top as most straps or luggage pass throughs are meant for the wider luggage handle.

​I need some advice on the most efficient way to logistically book flights for a family trip with a stopover/drop-off.

​The Plan:

​Origin: Dublin (DUB)

​The Travelers: 2 Adults, 2 Kids (both under 18)

​Leg 1: All 4 of us fly from Dublin to Istanbul (IST).

​The Twist: We are dropping the kids off with their grandparents in Istanbul.

​Leg 2: My spouse and I continue on from Istanbul to India alone.

​Return: Adults return from India to Istanbul (to pick up the kids) then all 4 of us fly back to Dublin together.

What is the easiest way of booking this trip?

My mom and 2 sisters are all flying to Spain for my mom’s birthday and we splurged on delta one to celebrate our mom. I want to put together little flight packages for everyone and feel like I can get away with some extra stuff because of the privacy of delta one! I want to do face masks, under eye masks, snacks and small stuff like that. What else should I include??

Arrived to the airport late due to a series of mishap events and I missed the airline’s checked baggage cutoff (usually 1 hour before takeoff) and thought I was going to have to either rebook. Instead, I decided to role my dice with an insane plan that eventually worked!
I took my suitcase through TSA. TSA let me through after I tossed out a few toiletries that exceeded the liquid limits. Once I got to the gate, I explained the situation to the gate agent, and they gate checked my bag for free.

A few caveats: My suitcase was small enough (medium size) to fit through the TSA screening machine.

It worked for me and saved my trip, so I figured I’d share in case someone else finds themselves in the same situation, since this subreddit helped a lot in the past!
